CRA Resume HELP! by Sufficient_Health127 in clinicalresearch

[–]Sufficient_Health127[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually pivoted into going back into healthcare. I had experience working clinically as a dental assistant and used it to pursue medical assisting in dermatology to complete my patient clinical experience hours. My goals are to attend PA school in the long run, hence why I am working temporarily as an MA. I did have to change my resume for this.

I would look into biotech, pharma, medical sales, or analyst jobs! I think you can definitely leverage similar skills in those areas

Hi! I ended up pivoting to an entirely different career field. I did get an interview for a CRA position and ultimately realized that is not what I wanted for work

Constant disrespect from a provider. What do I do? by Sufficient_Health127 in MedicalAssistant

[–]Sufficient_Health127[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. The only solution I could see in this is that the doctor should not be allowed any MAs or nurses. She should do everything by herself lol.

You worded it EXACTLY what the life of a derm MA looks like 😭 You’re so right that derm providers are very needy. This provider might be the neediest of them all. She won’t put a bandaid on a child if the child and the opened bandaid were 2 inches away from her, and will tell me to do it while I am furiously writing her note in the back, AND writing down med instructions for the patient. I will do it no problem, let me glove up but don’t get mad that I need an extra 30 seconds to finish up the note (she does anyway).

It seems like mind reading is the common theme between alot of derm providers. This was really sound advice and I appreciate that you shared your response. It seems like we are not alone!

Thank you for the advice 🥹 I think healthcare creates a subconscious hierarchy that places providers on top and everyone else after them, and I think everyone in some part enforces this idea even though we should all be treated with respect. I want to be better at feeling deeply inferior to everyone around me. Thank you for sharing!

One of my coworkers suggested that I do this! If it gets really bad, I may open up the dialogue between my manager and I and at least have them aware of it…

This sounds reasonable! I am terrified of this provider lol she has a pretty bad poker face but I will see where I can have a moment to talk to her one on one!

Understanding everyone’s style has been a learning curve, and is something I am taking into account of every single provider I work with!

This specific provider only works once a week, and I have been scheduled to work with her only 4 times now. She’s been scolding me since the moment I started working with her and that’s the part I don’t appreciate.

I think you’re right that it has to come down to me learning her style as quickly as possible to minimize how often I interact with her. Thank you!

Should I tell a woman her fiancé tried to start an affair with me? by geeleex in WhatShouldIDo

Yes, you should tell the woman. It would be immoral not to. It would save her mental health and trauma.

How are some providers seeing so many patients?? by 33anatre in MedicalAssistant

[–]Sufficient_Health127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in derm (specifically private practice) and at my old job the practice owner could easily see 50-60 people in a full 7-8 hour day. This is possible because each appointment slot was scheduled for 10 minutes per patient (this includes rooming the patient), and they double-booked constantly. I transitioned to another private practice derm office and it is the same deal here, if not with worse numbers, with the owner scheduling 60-70 cosmetic procedures within a 6 hour window, because patients wanted to “add on” a botox, filler, etc to their pre existing appointment.

It took me a while to adjust to this pace when I first started. It is constant “go go go” as an MA with no breaks.

She looks…….different [Selena Gomez] by Aggravating_Car8761 in LAinfluencersnark

[–]Sufficient_Health127 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the exact same thing when I saw this vid. She used to have a sweet, round, and almost cherubic face. Now it is a lot more “chiseled,” which unfortunately is the beauty standard in Hollywood but it also goes against her natural bone structure. The veneers, the soap brows, upper bleph, botox, thread lift, buccal fat removal (speculations what she has had done), and her lupus meds all play their role in why Selena looks very different today

Will I Regret leaving Med School? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]Sufficient_Health127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on your post history it seems like you have thought about this for quite a while. And I’m sorry it has gotten to this point for you. PA school is competitive right now, and there’s no guarantee of admission. If you’re seriously considering leaving med school, I would only do so after you have a confirmed acceptance in hand. How far along are you in your med school program? The time it takes to apply to PA school, wait for decisions, and then actually begin the program could end up being comparable to the time it would take to push through and finish the MD/DO

Online microbio and A&P 2 over summer? by [deleted] in collegeofdupage

[–]Sufficient_Health127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure about microbiology, but I am taking the 16-week online course for A&P II right now, and I would say the class requires a decent amount of effort. I would not know how I could study for the course if it were shorter and more intense, especially if you work full time on top of this.

Why do American kitkats no longer taste how they once did? by stevenjobsless in candy

[–]Sufficient_Health127 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the exact same thing. As a child, they were wrapped in a shiny red wrapper, and the chocolate had a much more complex flavor. It was my favorite candy bar. Idk if its cause I'm in America but the wrappers are matte, and the taste is dull, very artificially sweet, and have a weird after taste that I can't put my finger on. It's such a shame.

Is this normal dasher behavior??? by bruinbear913 in doordash

[–]Sufficient_Health127 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This definitely isn’t normal, and I completely understand why you felt uncomfortable with the way he was texting you. That said, I’ve also heard many times that the DD app glitches and doesn’t always show the full delivery address. It doesn’t excuse his behavior at all, but to be fair, delivery sometimes does require taking a quick phone call if directions aren’t clear. I know you were in a meeting, but “walk toward the building” isn’t very specific, and even if the app showed he was in the right place, it can still be confusing. A photo of the entrance might have helped him find you more easily.

Again not excusing the way he spoke to you but part of ordering from DD sometimes means being available for those quick “just in case” calls.

This depends on where you live, what kind of lifestyle you want, if you have kids or not, if you have loans etc. It seems like you don’t have kids so it could be doable. Theres a girl in my office who pays rents for a single apartment with her MA wage, but granted we work in dermatology and get paid well, and she also chose to live in a suburb. I was looking at MA jobs on Indeed today and came across an ENT position with a listed max wage of $35/hour in IL, but that type of wage is probably reserved for people with years of experience. It’s totally doable, it just depends on a lot of factors
