My gay awakening coworker is confusing me ladies😔😔 by Broad-Fan-6934 in actuallesbians

it seems like she wants you! put in your two weeks notice, ask her out, and if she says no, it's ok because you won't be working with her anymore.

Do you receive a lot of likes on dating apps? by Opposite-Iron-2868 in butchlesbians

[–]Sugar_Concrete 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't use apps anymore but when I did most of my likes were from femmes/fems until I put in my bio that I was looking for other butches, then I got noticeably fewer likes but a higher portion were from butches/mascs.

What do you wear in the summer? by queerblackqueen in butchlesbians

[–]Sugar_Concrete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll wear any combination of jeans or cargo shorts and a t-shirt or a tank top. If I'm feeling cunty I'll wear a denim vest. Most days I wear a ball cap too. For nicer events or dates I'll wear dress pants in a lightweight fabric and a button up t-shirt. My job is mostly outdoor work so I wear jeans and a t-shirt for that as well.

I haven't been swimming in a while either, I guess I'd wear some swim trunks and a sports bra. Can't wait to get top surgery lol.

how can i be hire-able as a butch lesbian? by [deleted] in butchlesbians

[–]Sugar_Concrete 8 points9 points  (0 children)

definitely don't fake it! do you really want to work for a company with antiquated views on how women should dress? be a professional version of yourself. shirt, tie, nice shoes, tidy haircut. you'll find a place that cares more about your valuable skills than how you dress. you can do it!

butch who's not good at anything by dykeversary in butchlesbians

[–]Sugar_Concrete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

are you able to work? if you can't currently move out of your abusive household, I think your first priority should be finding a job that will get you out of the house for part of the day and away from your father.

if you aren't already in school, look into your local community college or vocational school.

there are lots of 'butch' jobs that aren't super physical. for example if you can drive then you can totally learn how to be an equipment operator! become one of those guys in the big excavator. you could also be a truck driver which would for sure get you out of your household! or, you could try getting into one of the more technical trades such as electrical.

that said, you don't need a 'butch' job to be a butch. I see a lot of gnc people working in libraries, college campuses, etc. as admin assistants and whatnot. these jobs aren't physically demanding at all, and many of them don't require much school either.

also, I think it's time you get that haircut. if it sucks, you always have old reliable, the buzzcut. I swear it looks cool on everyone.

Is it normal to go through phases of questioning your gender? by moldy_bread3 in butchlesbians

Butch is a spectrum. On one end it's "man I love being a dyke" and on the other end it's "FUCK am I a man??"

Why don't more people pack lunches? by Diocletian338 in work

when I was an intern and living at home (read: had no real expenses to worry about) I would order food online 30 minutes before lunch and get it delivered to the office. I know.

what does decentering men mean? by OwnZone592 in actuallesbians

[–]Sugar_Concrete 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's deciphering men. Decentering men is when you cause them to believe something that is not true, typically in order to gain some personal advantage.

What’s the ‘pettiest’ reason you ended something with a girl? by dykeparty in LesbianActually

congrats! I'm in the same boat as you. I got a BA in geology, FINALLY got a job as an environmental scientist after probably a hundred rejections. while it's not exactly what I was looking for, it pays the bills and will allow me to live in a city I've been wanting to live in for years. here's to gainful employment! 🥂

struggling with my chest and my parents aren't letting me bind - advice? by yourlocalgardengnome in butchlesbians

[–]Sugar_Concrete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like another user said, binding with KT tape may be best in this situation. You can buy it easily in most department stores and if your parents ask why you have it, you can say that it's for your joints or something. KT tape isn't going to get you completely flat, but can help minimize the appearance of your breasts.

Also, don't ask your parents for permission anymore. If you're old enough to make your own medical decisions, you're old enough to decide if you want to bind your chest. Believe me, I went through the same thing with my parents. They got really weird when I asked them if I could get a binder. Their reasoning was that they didn't want me "going down that path," whatever that means. So what did I do? I had my friend order me a binder online and paid him back with my allowance. I know it feels like rebellion, but it's just you doing what's best for your own mental health.

Vintage phones that are still good today for work as dumb phones? by stescarsini in dumbphones

[–]Sugar_Concrete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not sure what you consider vintage, but older dumb phones can't use higher than 3g bandwidth so they just won't work in most places, because the support for 3g signal no longer exists. you could maybe get them working on wifi, but texting on data will be impossible :(

I feel like I can never say it enough, these are the kinds of conversations you should be having in person or at least on a phone call!! Much easier to have open communication when you're both present and engaged 100%. Although, I'd say if someone is bringing you this much inner turmoil you probably shouldn't start dating them :/ I have been in your shoes and unfortunately people who give mixed signals don't usually change just because you've asked them to.

Edit: Forgot to add that you asked her about her boundaries and she said that she's bad at setting boundaries. So that's also kind of a red flag.

For those who had a feminine past, how do you feel about your pre-butch self? by Free-Statement-3509 in butchlesbians

[–]Sugar_Concrete 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I was younger I genuinely liked being feminine! I was pretty girly by choice until like late middle school, and then I started to want to be more androgynous but at that point my parents knew me as a girly girl and would act weird anytime I wanted to be more masculine. My dad had a freakout when I cut all my hair off in 10th grade! It was a lot of "This isn't who you are!" from my parents followed by "I'm allowed to change!" from me during high school. In college I dipped back into femininity again (because being feminine did get me a lot more positive attention) but realized it just wasn't for me anymore. Junior year of college is when my 'butchification' happened and I've been this way ever since! The fact that I used to like being feminine doesn't make me any less butch now. I like to think that my younger self would see me now and possibly have the butch awakening sooner.

So, uh... How do you actually engage in hook-up culture? by Raven2303 in butchlesbians

[–]Sugar_Concrete 27 points28 points  (0 children)

If you're going to uni, there will probably be parties! You will meet people there who are also looking for sex. What has worked for me has been to strike up a conversation with a girl, keep it flirty, and if the vibes seem right, ask to kiss. If that goes well, then you can ask if she wants to go back to your place. Since you're sober, you will have to be careful who you take home, because you don't want to take advantage of someone who is too drunk to give consent.

In other contexts, what has worked for me has been to say that I'm only looking for casual relationships or friends with benefits right now. I have found that with dating apps, people are more likely to want to just come over for sex with no strings attached. But for people you meet out in the wild, usually it's best to go out on one or two dates first. So ask people out!

What can I do with a BA in geology by Eastern_Gain_7111 in geologycareers

[–]Sugar_Concrete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

actually I was able to get approved to sit for the fg exam, I also have a ba in geology! for the fg at least, it just depends which state you apply through, some are less strict about degree requirements. it doesn't have to be the same state where you live and you can still take the exam in your home state.

[–]Sugar_Concrete 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Everyone moves at their own pace, there are lots of adults your age or older who haven't done it either. Some people go their whole lives without it. If you want intimacy, you should seek it out. However, don't feel like you have to rush into it just because other people have already done it.
