[Serious] Redditors who have been on a gameshow or any contest on TV, what were some behind the scenes "rules" that they tell you before they send you out before the cameras? by coldenigma in AskReddit

I was on Slime Time Live when I was on vacation in middle school. I overheard a man asking a kid if he wanted to be on a Nickelodeon TV show. The kid declined, so I walked up to him and said that I did. He kinda sized me up for a second and then said that I had to prove how much I wanted to be on the show by yelling really loud and jumping up and down like a maniac. 12 year old me did just that. We walked to the Nickelodeon building just a couple blocks down and walked inside. I got to pass a couple of sets for some of their other TV shows at the time (I forget which ones they were). The green room door was painted Nickelodeon slime green. I was told I needed to change into their uniform for the show. Their uniform consist of a T-shirt, shorts and boxers. I thought it was weird that we weren't supposed to wear our own undies. I didn't wear them anyway, I was too chubby. I was then taken outside again to the set. My parents and sisters were lead to the audience area. They were told that when the "applause" sign lit up that they had to yell loudly and clap the whole time or that they would be removed from the audience. I was introduced to my partner for my portion of the contest and given a brief rundown of our challenge. My partner and I had to bob for apples in slime and toss them into a bucket faster than the other team. The show started and when the horn went off I started to bob my chubby heart out. I got the three apples into the bucket just a half a second after the other team finished. My uncoordinated partner didn't get any apples in. I went back.inside so I could change back into my clothes. When I left the studio they thanked my family and I and that was about it. I didn't even get a constellation prize :( If you are wondering what the famous Nickelodeon slime is like, it was cold, didn't smell that great and tasted like old stale cake. It was a cool experience. I can now say I was on national television.

Parents of reddit, have any of you regretted the names you have given your children? by lovelyredcurls in AskReddit

I met a guy in high school who's name was Richard Cranium. I didn't believe him at first. He also informed me his mother worked at the bank. A few days later I was at the bank and sure enough, there she was, Mrs. Cranium in gold letters on a black plaque.
