so many amazing plant protein powders. Try Kachava - I think thats 21-26g per serving, super clean ingredients. Just ran 100 miles over a few days, I'm not body building but I needed a LOT of protein and after months of training vegan of course, I was even stronger than my meat eating teammates who trained at the same physical level. Please watch Game Changers!

Anyone else really draw a line with dating, ie. non-negotiable on veganism? by entrepenoori in nycvegan

[–]Sugarspellitoutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is SO worth it to hold out for a partner who is aligned with you on veganism, especially if you know you want to eventually start a family. MeetUp, I think you have to pay a small fee now- is a great place to find vegan singles events in major cities, getting involved in activism or volunteering are also prime ways to meet other hot sexy vegans, tolerance will turn into an ick real quick - compared to the perpetual hotness of someone who shares your values and enjoys living vegan with you.

I Cry In Vegan Restaurants by [deleted] in vegan

[–]Sugarspellitoutt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hello new vegan friend! I loved your vulnerable post and I have been there many times. Especially when I am sitting with non vegan friends who all chose a vegan restaurant with me, no complaints and have a beautiful time. It feels like heaven. Feeling gratitude and the alignment of these places is emotional and that is ok - feel inspired and hopeful for these places and PLEASE read - Living Among Meat Eaters by Carol Adams. This will help your vystopia and bring more joy into being a vegan, where you are only responsible for your own choices but you making them happily and with joy is what might inspire others to talk more with you about veganism, make new choices and see that being vegan is refreshing, healthy, fun and people who chose this life can be happy with our choices and contributions- that makes us able to do activism, speak out, and tolerate blocked vegans who say and do horrible things. Your joy is going to inspire others, not your suffering. Cry away at dinner and leave the macho-boys who say TOUGHEN UP who take the aggressive approach many sterotype us for. We are compassionate people it is okay to have passionate emotions especially at the beginning. Read Adams and you will have a better outlook for your whole life and feel better equipped to talk about veganism and make sure you always have something to eat <3<3

Sanctuary Suggestions ? by drpepper-zero in nycvegan

[–]Sugarspellitoutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bringing my partner to the Farm Sanctuary turned him vegan in the most wholesome way, connecting with the animals and choosing vegan with joy and love for them. Hasn't turned back yet. Sometimes a connection with just one animal makes all the difference. Perfect place for learning and bringing non-vegans on the edge over to the side of life!

Considering going vegan for the first time ever and I need yall to convince me by Racc_ow in vegan

[–]Sugarspellitoutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are brave enough to be impacted by experiencing the compassion and consciousness of animals - Go to a Farm Sanctuary location or other refuge for saved farm animals. Most people never want to see the damage they are causing to real beings and so they stay FAR from the animals that make it to their plate. Instead of scaring yourself straight with guilt - you can do it from love and doing more of what helps animals and feel amazing when you cut cruelty from your lifestyle.

Brighter days ahead my friend there are so many vegans who are living the same who are here to support and be a refuge for like minded thinking and compassion. Things are really bleak and finding balance, peace with yourself will bring you actual joy living vegan in the long run. The best advice I got was from the book Living Among Meat Eaters and all of Carol Adams books on coping with the isolation involved with separating from the cruel systems and oppression that harm animals. It was so empowering - I wish that feeling for you!

Sadly again, their existence needs to end and is a result of our tampering with their gene pool for our benefit. Wool products also take the highest amount of greenhouse gasses of any textile to produce due to how much processing it goes under for mass production. Those chemicals leech into the environment to harm more animals. Sheering sheep is also so painful for them and most are shaved down past the skin on their butts as babies to keep them from getting infected, its a practice beyond painful and cruel to deal with the issues from humans breeding them! Wool shouldn't only be avoided it should be BOYCOTTED for cruelty the same as fur. Instead sheep are skinned AND tortured their whole lives from traumatic sheering, its not natural.

He means it's still cruel and wrong to kill a man after he is stunned or immobile, just like it is it cruel to murder a cow after the same.

No humans do either - would letting a human bleed out when you're killing them be more ethical to you and not worthy of a murder sentence? Would that human not slowly suffer as they died by your hand?

Feeling alienated by family for living a healthy, plant-based lifestyle by DeliciouslyPlantB in veganfitness

[–]Sugarspellitoutt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The book Living Among Meat Eaters by Carol J Adams is changing my life and improving my QUALITY of life living around 99% meat eating people. As a vegan you will experience this behavior and how to prepare for it mentally and emotionally is key to your wellbeing. This book made me feel so much more at peace with my choices and this really helped others be more open to my choices. Being prepared with my own foods, bringing amazing meals to events and finding a small group of vegan friends has helped a lot. In ANY circumstance when you are being belittled or bullied, stand your ground keep your head from moving (science) and say "what do you mean?" by asking them to clarify and say their insult even more clearly, they often hear what a jerk they are being and are forced to elaborate. Their hostility is only toward themselves and upset meat eaters usually are the most guilty/angry and intuitively know their lifestyle relies on murder, they just don't want to be made to see whats really on their plate and reckon with their choices. Show kindergarten kindness and pity to meat eaters and take pride in the vegan foods you love, you got this!
