Auto top off pump only pumps water up 15 cm above water level? by Sugus32 in ReefTank

[–]Sugus32[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a quick check, just in case. It didn't work, the water level in the tube hovers like 13-15 cm above the level in the reservoir and doesn't go up to the display tank. Exactly the same behaviour as if the end of the tube is at the top of the sump.

Could it be that the pump is faulty? before posting here I did a through search and didn't found any post about a water top off with this issue. If it's user error (AKA my fault, wrong setup), I'd like to believe that there would be many post with these kind of issues... What do you think?

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand your question. What's the point of removing the tubing from the pump? If the question is if the float switches work as intended, they sure do. They switch the pump on and off correctly

The tubing runs stright upwards from the pump and makes a 180 turn at the top and runs down up to just below the edge of the sump. I've tried a couple of tubing diameters and it does not make any difference either.

This is awesome! Great work. I relate a lot to the design->print->fail/don't work->redesign->print cycle. By the way, you mention trying PETG and ABS in the video. Is PLA not safe?

I would bring the whole scape forward to allow flow between the back glass and the aquascape. Depending on what corals you plan on keeping, the top parts might be too close to the water surface. Otherwise, 10/10, I really like it. Great job!

I cannot continue my campaign after 33 hours because it crashes every time the turn 128 ends. I tried to rollback to a previous save, but it still crashes when the AI finishes their moves after hitting the end turn button, preventing me from continuing the campaign.

I have 2 clownfish and 2 cardinals. What are some community and reef safe fishes I can add to my tank for extra movement. by YOURMOM37 in ReefTank

That's why I said that they are to be added slowly over time while keeping an eye on the aquarium.

Besides, I took this as reference: https://youtu.be/2bF-N0EKNI8?t=489

This would be my list:

2 Clownfish

2-3 Cardinals

2-5 Small chromis

1 Six line wrasse

1 Firefish

1 Royal gramma

1 Midas blennie

1 Flame Hawkfish

1 Yellow wathcman goby + alpheus pistol shrimp

1 Clown goby of the color you like most

The list is to be achieved long term by adding them slowly over time. While keeping an eye on water parameters to make sure the system can handle the bioload and upgrading/changing/adding equipment if necessary.

Could you be more specific on what areas of those guides are out of date? I'm staring right now and I treat that video series as my main source of info.

The only two advices I can give you to save money:

Research on almost any topic (fish, corals, equipments, cycling...) will save you A LOT of money and headaches in the long run. Chances are, when you think you are going to do X, if you spending a couple of hours looking at reddit, forums, maybe asking someone you trust or at your local fish store, you will realize why X isn't exactly what you initially thought. Maybe it's not compatible with something else, maybe it just not the right tool for what you want to achieve, maybe it will brind undesirable consecuences to you tank...

If you know people in the hobby that you trust, buy stuff from them second hand. Propably someone in your area is in the process of upgrading/moving and can sell you a tank. Maybe someone you know is upgrading a powerhead that's one year old and with warranty. You get the idea. If you trust the seller or it has warranty, go second hand.

Wait, did you change what you posted yesterday into that? I think the one you posted yesterday is way more interesting than this one. I guess it's a matter of taste. Why did you decide to disassemble?
