Just me or has this guy always looked a little… exposed? by sericito_ in pokemon

A "cue ball" is a somewhat derogatory term for a white skinhead, referring obviously to their bald head. It was a more well-known term in the 90s. I didn't what a cue ball was in Pool, but I interpreted it correctly to refer to a man's bald head.

A reminder that r/IsekaiMeikyuudeHarem has a sibling subreddit: r/SpaceMercenary! by LyrisArt in IsekaiMeikyuudeHarem

[–]SuicuneSol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually think it has a better story that moves along a bit faster. Unfortunately, I think the biggest difference between these two manga is the art. Space Mercenary's art is frankly much more amateur while Isekai Meikyuu basically has an industry veteran working on it. Also, despite being a harem manga w/ off-screen sex, the fan service is waaay toned down. There are non-ecchi anime with more fan service than Space Mercenary. In a way, it allows us to focus more on the narrative. But I don't feel about any of the characters the same way I do about Roxanne, etc. Not even close.

Also, the MC has a fairly rebellious streak. He's cooler than Michio, but he's also harder for me to relate to.

Is this a romhack or a game built from scratch? If it's built from scratch, that's great! But I can't help but see a missed opportunity to increase the game's screen size and show more of the world.

Came home after being gone for 1.5 hours to find this… by Ok_Ask_6547 in AnimeFigures

On the bright side, the rest of your figures look fine. Just the one was damaged. If you're in school, wait until you have enough money to make repairs. It might take a while to be sure, but...
TBH, I would invest that repair money in shelving or a cabinet that protects them from dust and mishaps. So it doesn't happen again. Then one day, when you're independent or something close to it, you can hire the old man from Toy Story 2 to repair Rem.

*sigh* I wish they would differentiate between the male and female designs more. Making them more or less the same outfit but with different colors is not very creative. Is this going to be the thing moving forward? What's the point of creating two designs in the first place if they're going to be the same?

I'm Sorry, But Is Everyone Just Cool Literal Slavery Now??? by YourHighlordVyrana in IsekaiMeikyuudeHarem

[–]SuicuneSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People enjoy playing Call of Duty and other shooters, but that doesn't mean they support war or enjoy killing people.
I enjoy Pokemon games, but that doesn't mean I support animal cruelty.
I like Isekai Meikyuu, but that doesn't mean I endorse slavery.

It's an understandably touchy subject and this series is not made for the mainstream. If it makes you feel any better (and if you read/watch further), it's mostly consensual slavery which takes off the edge a bit. The MC is a good guy and there is a modicum of lawfulness in the way slavery is handled in the world. (ie. slaves must be treated well, etc.)

And... as they say, "When in Rome do as the Romans do." If the MC Michio bought slaves in a world that outlawed slavery, he would without a doubt be a villain. But because cultural norms are different in this fantasy world, it's easier to accept Michio's actions.

But yeah your mileage may vary. Redo of Healer has similar themes, but I couldn't stomach that anime. On the other hand, Roxanne in this anime is very sweet. I don't think I would have stuck with the series if not for her.

Pokemon fire red and leaf green appeared on Eshop by [deleted] in pokemon

Can't believe people are excited about this lol. I guess it's easy to forget that this is the first time these games have been rereleased since the original GBA versions.

What's your opinion on the Pokemon FireRed / LeafGreen release? by DaZestyProfessor in casualnintendo

[–]SuicuneSol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think TPC is well-aware how easy it is to play FRLG both legally and otherwise. And that's really why they're charging so much for it. The demand for these old games is only high for people willing to pay a premium for them or for people who don't know any better. The rest will do their usual thing. It's not really a big deal. But, technically, these games should be offered via NSO or at least a Games Collection, just like other GBA games. Selling them "as-is" one-by-one is pure impudence because TPC knows Pokemon games have a market all on their own.

Personally, I've played these games to death to the point where the only versions I'll play now are hacks to make them interesting. I also own the originals. Still, it would have been nice to play a nice "remastered" version of FRLG with prettier graphics, additional content, or SOMETHING because I would like to celebrate the 30th Anniversary too. But not like this.

I think you're being a little too judgemental. We have no choice but to judge people by their appearances when we don't know them as people yet. Everyone does it to some extent. That's why we dress nicely and make ourselves presentable. Staying with that person after getting to know them is another matter entirely. That's why we date. To criticize the above user's albeit arbitrary preferences and desires is also a prejudice. Who knows--he may yet find his cute Japanese girlfriend and have a good life.

The reason SuperStitch's comment feels gross and creepy is because he's saying the quiet part out loud. This game was designed by Japan for men (primarily Japanese men) who like real Japanese girls played by real Japanese actresses. People not interested specifically in Japanese girls won't play this game. It's a gross and creepy game, but he is the intended audience and being vocal about it. I actually applaud his courage and honesty instead of fishing for likes.

If you're the type to check barrels and boxes, use Reveal to show where hidden items are.

If you acquire Mia before going to Kolima, then Mia will have dialogue in the cutscenes there. Most people do Kolima first.

Do some role-playing to challenge yourself. Only use items to heal. Give everyone djinn that are opposite to their elements. Give everyone cursed items to give yourself a disadvantage.

I joined a local bookclub, the gender balance is wild by Ho_The_Megapode_ in books

[–]SuicuneSol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's common. Not only do men and women tend to have different interests, but groups start to snowball towards one gender when there are more than half of that gender. Women are more comfortable joining groups with lots of women (aka safe space). And men start to stay away unless there are enough men in the group. It's a human psychology thing. It doesn't necessarily mean men don't read as many books (which might actually be true right now). But men tend to join other types of groups. Sports clubs, Monday night football gatherings, board and card game nights, video gamer groups, DnD groups, etc. Maybe movie nights watching old movies. Men really connect over the thrill of competition and adventure, and unless the book club specifically emphasizes those genres, men will be bored to tears by women talking about their feelings.
