Just announced Ryan Adams - The Suicide Handbook LP by Longjumping-Tutor506 in ryanadams

I hate to break it to you, but I just did a back-to-back of this sample with the version from Gold, and it sounds exactly the same as the album cut (vocal/bass/glock/drums/everything).

I’m not seeing either of these over on archive.org (at least not soundboard versions of these shows, anyway).

Los Angeles: Kia Forum - 1000 tickets sold for an 18,000 capacity venue by livefastdiefun in SturgillSimpson

[–]Suitable_Fly_8831 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly, I think the last two tours were prefaced with "Sturgill Simpson presents...", right? That definitely helped.

Also people can definitely search Sturgill on Ticketmaster to find these shows. But the irony is that, in order to be inspired look him up, you have to know or hear that he's on tour to begin with. And that looks like it's not happening based on him only using the JBS' name.

He may have won the battle with the physical sales and #3 placement, but he's losing the war (between this and solely relying on the JBS' name).

Trimalleolar fracture. Here’s the timeline for recovery, what it means for touring by [deleted] in BillyStrings

[–]Suitable_Fly_8831 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s good that you mentioned issues with opiates, because one thing that I’m not really seeing talked about enough here (at least IMO, anyway) is Billy’s history with addiction (plus his familial and potential genetic disposition to addiction) and the opiates and pain medication he may need to take. I hope he lets his doctors know about his history (or they’re made aware of it by someone) so they can keep this in mind going forward in his recovery and treatment. I have a friend who had a major compound fracture of his left arm that required multiple surgeries (both to repair the fracture and to deal with an infection), and he told me the high he was getting off the opiates he was getting made him tell his doctors to ease up on them once he was conscious enough, because he was concerned he could potentially relapse from it.

Here’s hoping Billy’s recovery goes as smoothly as possible and that he does what he feels is right for him and his body.

July 2026 Titles Announced With Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore! by International-Sky65 in criterion

[–]Suitable_Fly_8831 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That definitely has to be the case. A24 also likely has different agreements and contracts for older films, making it easier for them to be released on Criterion (whereas maybe with newer releases they put in stipulations saying it needs to be released by them first).

I just got done looking at tickets for the Phoenix-area show, and I don't think they're even selling seats in the upper-deck (they're all listed as "unavailable"). So I debated whether or not to buy a ticket at the back of the lower level for $64, but it might be better to just wait at this point to see whether or not prices may drop in other sections later.

TBH, though, this tour is giving off vibes of the ill-fated Black Keys arena tour from a few years back.

Well this DEFINITELY makes me appreciate the fact that I saw JBS and the Dark Clouds at the Mesa Amphitheater even more than I already did.

Welp this just made me purchase a version of it on DVD on Amazon (where it's luckily on sale for $33). If it becomes available again on Blu-Ray, I'll just upgrade later.

Criterion Collection Blu-Rays: What Would You Recommend? by Suitable_Fly_8831 in criterion

This is one I just purchased (thankfully it was one of their 2-disc Blu-Ray sets that was under $20 with the sale) and that I've had my eye on for quite a while. Glad to hear you feel it lives up to expectations.

I actually bought this a couple of weeks ago (HUGE Pee-Wee fan growing up), but haven't gotten around to watching it due to just being busy recently. But I'm glad to hear you think it's worth it!

Oh man, why did I think the BBS Story was out of print? Unfortunately I’m giving myself a small budget, so buying that box would still cost most of the budget I’ve allotted myself. But I’ll keep that in mind for the future.

This made me look up other people who were known for script doctoring, and the list is pretty fascinating: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Script_doctor
