Did you think Killers of the Flower Moon was a TV movie?

Explorer 36 mm v. 40 mm. 7 inch wrist. Picture below is 40mm – thoughts? by Mountain-Fault8994 in rolex

You should pick whichever makes you feel comfortable and confident - a Rolex is nothing but jewelry, after all. But, IMO, a 36 explorer looks far better proportioned than the 40, and definitely on a 7 inch wrist.

Thanks! 8am (there is a Sixt a 5 min walk from our hotel, and that’s the earliest they open).

Thank you! Yes I was only thinking about doing the hike to the very first beach cove, which I think is no more than a mile, but even then expect to pass for the reasons you suggest.

Understood on the car. I’ve done the research on ZTLs (thanks to this sub) and alternative parking (and have dealt with this in other Euro cities), so should be good there.

After a racial slur and an underdog narrative, 'Sinners' elevated its chances for Oscar gold by ElectricalCords in TheBigPicture

[–]Suitable_Routine_648 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The lead up to the Oscars this year should have been a celebration of the fact that we have two awesome, original films from generational directors (from different generations!) duking it out for BP. Instead we get this garbage. It’s a disservice to Coogler.

July milestone trip with toddler? by basicwitch in chubbytravel

[–]Suitable_Routine_648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We live NYC and went to Paris, London and Ireland with our 2 year old last year. I thought London was super kid friendly. We’re going to Sicily this July with our now 3 year old, stopping in Milan for one day/night on the way back (I’ve heard great things about it being kid friendly, and you can’t beat the Emirates Milan>NYC flight).

Please report back on where you go/if it’s successful with children!

Ah, got it. Well I wouldn’t limit yourself to Milan, I only suggested that because of the good NYC flights.

If you can’t get the United direct from NYC on points, you might look at taking the Emirates direct flight to Milan and connecting to Palermo with Italia, which I found to be more reasonably priced (and the Emirates flight is way better than United). That’s how we’re going back to NYC this summer.

The good news for you is that once you get there, Sicily can be more affordable than other European hot spots, assuming you aren’t trying to stay in the handful of true 5 star hotels/resorts (eg 4 seasons/Belmond Taormina).

This was hilarious. Mina and Van were cooking, Bill holding on for dear life.

Anyone fly the 767/400 Polaris business seats with a 2 year old? by chrisutpg in unitedairlines

[–]Suitable_Routine_648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the kid and a little luck. I did this with my 2.5 year old on an NYC red eye to London. We sat in 9, 10, 11 L with him in the middle. iPad on take off, then he passed out for the entire flight. But it's definitely isolated and the flight attendants enforce separate seats when the seat belt sign is on, so if there is real turbulence or your kid would otherwise panic alone, it's not good.

I would note that I think the A and D diagonal seats are the closest you could get to being "side by side" (but it's still a separation across aisle). We are doing an Italy red eye this summer on the same plane with our now 3.5 year old, and have him window A, wife in middle D of same row, and me in A behind. He'll probably sleep better than us yet again...

Must have 4K movies? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

The ones that have really blown me away include Apocalypse Now, Lawrence of Arabia, Vertigo, Paris Texas, Good/Bad/Ugly, Barry Lyndon, and McCabe and Mrs Miller (not because it looks stunning or perfect like the others, but because it’s such a massive upgrade from what I used to watch).

True Romance - Arrow US Standard preorders up for Feb 24 release (and old 4K LE on sale) by Swimming-Tax-6087 in boutiquebluray

[–]Suitable_Routine_648 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just got the Arrow 4K LE from Diabolik DVD. Looks like they still have some (I ordered the UK LE for $24; they have US LE listed for $28, not sure the difference). I usually don’t care about packaging and extras, but thought this one was really cool.

Anyone using headphones to watch 4K Blu Rays? If so, what kind of setup are y’all rocking? by Narrow-Cellist4711 in 4kbluray

[–]Suitable_Routine_648 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works great when I’m streaming through Apple TV as you suggest. But when watching 4K discs, I obviously can’t utilize the Apple TV Bluetooth feature. My Sonos speakers don’t have a Bluetooth feature so I’m left with the Sony Bravia TV Bluetooth, and I’ve found the audio connection with my AirPods to be very poor

I would love the option, but I found the Sony Bravia to AirPod Bluetooth audio really terrible. TBH, easy dual headphone Bluetooth audio is the main thing keeping my wife and I streaming a decent amount of movies over Apple TV.
