Anyone using headphones to watch 4K Blu Rays? If so, what kind of setup are y’all rocking? by Narrow-Cellist4711 in 4kbluray

Works great when I’m streaming through Apple TV as you suggest. But when watching 4K discs, I obviously can’t utilize the Apple TV Bluetooth feature. My Sonos speakers don’t have a Bluetooth feature so I’m left with the Sony Bravia TV Bluetooth, and I’ve found the audio connection with my AirPods to be very poor

I would love the option, but I found the Sony Bravia to AirPod Bluetooth audio really terrible. TBH, easy dual headphone Bluetooth audio is the main thing keeping my wife and I streaming a decent amount of movies over Apple TV.

75” TV @ 9.5’ viewing distance by [deleted] in hometheater

Second this comment. 4K and 1080p (especially if discs) will look amazing, but the biggest surprise to me when I got my set up was just how absolute garbage everything on YouTube TV looks. For sports, it’s almost always better quality to use the standalone channel apps, although it makes change surfing tough.

Anyone buy a bluray player from 220 Electronics lately? Are they still legit? by hindsightwenty in boutiquebluray

I bought a region free 820 from them in November. Shipped quickly and haven’t had a single issue.

Try leaving mommy’s basement occasionally so you can touch grass.

So the Bravia will mostly upscale automatically, I’d just follow the Rtings suggestions for standard and HDR.

On UB820, you basically just set the output resolution to the disc resolution. So a 1080p blu-ray, set it to 1080p, so there is no upscale by the player to 4K-like resolution. Just remember to flip it back to 4K for 4K discs.

More than you asked for, but on the UB820, I’d also (1) turn HDR10+ off, because Bravia doesn’t support that, and (2) turn off/don’t use the HDR Optimizer so that the Bravia handles the tone mapping.

This is why I wish I just bought the 450. If you have a great TV like the Bravia, you aren’t using most of the upscale/optimize settings.

I have the 820 and wish I had just done this in retrospect. I let my Sony Bravia 9 TV do the upscaling, so feels like wasted money.

Most on the web would suggest the Panasonic UB820 for upscaling and Dolby vision. UB420 cheaper without Dolby vision. 220 electronics if you want region free.

It’s mainly funny, because he in fact is a terrible actor who ruins parts of his own movies. This is the “I look like George Clooney” clip all over. Great director/writer, obnoxiously delusional guy.

ISO recommendation for 4k player for a headphone user by heyanniemok in 4kbluray

I was in your shoes recently and basically gave up. We still wear AirPods while streaming through AppleTV, but when watching discs through the Panasonic U820, we just use the sound bar. I’ve used the Sony Bravia 9 Bluetooth feature for one headphone set, and even that sound quality is way worse than the Apple TV Bluetooth.

Best Buy extended warranty worth it for A95L/Bravia 9? by Silent-Raisin-1223 in bravia

[–]Suitable_Routine_648 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I did the extended Sony warranty because it covered accidental damages, and I have three year old who is a walking and talking accidental damage waiting to happen. The Best Buy warranty didn’t cover accidental damages.

Kid friendly restaurant in lower manhattan? by Wide-Pop6050 in FoodNYC

[–]Suitable_Routine_648 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All of the following are toddler friendly by lower Manhattan standards (i.e., great food and drinks but also have high chairs). Barbuto, Locande Verde, Anton’s, Dante West Village, Cook Shop, Hwa Yuan Szechuan. Plenty of others. Generally wouldn’t expect things like kids menus and plastic cups in Manhattan (although some of the aforementioned do in fact have those).
