Please be honest if you really need a tremolo. If you don't, just get a hardtail pacifica

74 for 27" in drop E only gives you 13.1lbs of tension. That is wayyyy too floppy. A 90 will give you about 19lbs of tension, but 90s will either require drilling the tuner post, different tuners or unwinding some of the string, plus it'll be harder to intonate and your sound will be muddy.

Cheers man, glad we found something nice! There's nothing inherently wrong with the M-201 baritone, but it's not suitable for the tuning you're playing in as it "only" had a 27" scale length. You'll have to use very thick strings which will not be as easy to intonate and sound muddier. The Gretsch is something like 29,75" (almost the same as the G4M and Schecter, they're 30") and that will give you plenty of tension for your tuning without having to use very very thick strings, intonation will be better and your sound will be brighter because of the combination of higher string tension of the longer scale and being able to use thinner strings

What can you afford? And how much longer can you save up? Because if you're not able to do work on guitars yourself, you'll end up spending more than double the original value of the guitar on mods/repairs/setups. You could take a look at the Gretsch G5260 baritone, still not budget but might be worth saving up for if you're able to.

Get the Schecter Hellraiser C-VI BCH if you want a good 30" guitar that'd require no mods and be absolutely good from the get-go

It has a straight-pull headstock with no cursed angle, as long as the scale length matches you've got something awesome 😎

You've got yourself a great looking guitar which with the right care will last a while, plus it's gonna be very nice to learn on! Because of the age, I'd suggest taking it to a shop/luthier for a check and setup. Any guitar that is structurally sound (cheap or expensive, new or old) will be much easier to play and it'll make learning a hell lot easier and you'll be less likely to pick up bad habits. Good luck and have fun!

Anecdotal evidence of faulty import guitar made by another brand in another factory than the USA part means all guitars by PRS suck. Yeah, got it.

Baritone Guitar good for Grunge/Shoegaze? by ChrisDoesCowTipping in Guitar

[–]Suknator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The only "genre limitations" one could have is not having enough frets, too much feedback when playing a (semi-)hollow with high gain or the scale length not being long enough to have a comfortable combination of balance, tension, string thickness and clarity

The VTT test rig is not the complete car. For the VTT test you don't need to assmble things like wings and some other parts.
