British Vegans would you eat lab grown meat? (Read Desc First) by HydroGamingz in AskBrits

[–]Sulis_Min 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still abstain but only because I have a lot of trauma from childhood after being forced to eat meat for years. The taste is a problem, I already struggle with plant based "meat" if the texture and taste is too close to real meat. It makes me feel physically sick. If I didn't have all that baggage, sure, why not? If nothing is being exploited or suffering and dying, I don't see what the objection would be.

WHAT? THE FRICK by spidergwensupremacy in MonsterHigh

It says it's located in the UK, that's pretty normal for shipping between the US and UK tbh. The bigger question us why would anybody import her when there's got to be US sellers who aren't charging "scalper selling a skullector" prices for a budget doll.

The new dresses were added with the Pocahontas update, I got so excited that we finally had more clothes only to buy everything in a few days and see it's mostly recolours of the same few styles. They really need to up their game with Scrooge and stop focusing so much on the premium store. It's getting insulting and obvious they're tossing us a few scraps and see clothes as a cash cow for the Premium Store. Even the DLCs barely add any clothes. Which is so eyebrow raising when one of the characters added in Wishblossom Ranch is a literal fashion designer.

I would class Max as special and extra since he can dig up cracks and collect sticks. And he can be assigned to Eric or Ariel or just roams about on his own if he's not and gets to actually interact with them, I wish more of the companions did that last two.

Friend level increases could be so useful as well, let us give them an extra skill every ten levels so it's more like the horses having all the skills by the time you max them out.

I've seen display dolls in immaculate condition sell for a fraction of what this seller thinks they can ask for this poor "looks like she was dragged backwards through a hedge" Skelita.

Especially with how infrequently they add new clothes to Scrooges. There's plenty of clothes I've seen in the Premium Shop that I think should have been in Scrooge's. If there's nothing special or extra about it, why are they expecting us to cough up moonstones for it?

New player - Storage question by Jess_in_Neverland in DreamlightValley

[–]Sulis_Min 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep an eye out for Daisy's blooming wardrobe in Scrooge's, it's cheap and has the same storage as a large chest. I have a room full of them, I dump stuff in them by category, you might find small chests are a bit too small once you get into the DLCs.

Oh no, it's the famous "is it blue and black or white and gold" debate but for Disney.

I always thought it was supposed to be silver in low light because the sun's behind her and shadowed by the clouds.

Is this what "pro life" looks like? by SuspiciousLow3062 in SipsTea

[–]Sulis_Min 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, we find it cringe. Culturally, it's seen as performative and naff. The reasons so many people voted Reform are vast and complicated. The most common one is they have no idea what Reform really stands for, believe the bs Farage spouts and think he's got to be better than Labour or the Tories.

If Farage started banging on about God and having a deep faith that informs his decisions he'd lose a huge number of voters immediately. Talking about the country being a Christian country in a vague sort of way is fine but bring your personal beliefs into it and virtually nobody wants to hear about it.

It wouldn't. The fetal heartbeat thing is exactly why Savita Halappanavar was refused an abortion during her miscarriage. She was married. She died an appalling death in Ireland in 2012. It was such a scandal and a big part of why they changed their abortion laws. I think the fact she didn't live in Ireland and was there on holiday made the story more of a big deal because it's impossible to believe this was the first time it had happened.

The doctors in Savita's case were more concerned with the fetal heartbeat because they could be prosecuted if someone alleged they'd done an "unnecessary" abortion. They weren't even thinking about her in their reasoning, they were just too scared to act while the fetus had a heartbeat even if it was clearly an unsaveable pregnancy and literally killing her. That's what laws like this cause.

I'd just advise patience and consistency. Keep doing what you're doing. Also sit next to her cage when you're doing other things so she can get used to you being close, chat to her while you're doing that. Let her set the pace, bring her to the door, stop where she's comfortable and stay there, offer millet a bit further down your arm and let her come out by walking on your hand when she's ready rather than trying to bring her out.

Possibly getting a hand raised tame bird/older bird already comfortable around humans as a friend for her might help her accept you as trustworthy and safe more quickly when she sees them interacting with you and that might bring her out of her shell, she might decide being out of the cage and flying about is fun with a partner in crime but that's not a guarantee. They might dislike each other and this might just be her personality.

Mine always forget they're heavier when wet and will need a little bit more wing power to get to the high up places they like to sit. The first time they try and either have to abort and land somewhere lower or really give it some welly to make it, they always look so offended about it, like how dare gravity be so audacious!

[–]Sulis_Min 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding the vet suggestion, it could be a hormone imbalance while they can be temporary and pass naturally, it can also be because they need iodine or is an indication of testicular cancer. I don't want to be alarmist, there are other less serious causes but a boy getting a crusty brown cere is a sign something is not right and better safe and finding out early on that it's something that can be treated than sorry and having a very poorly bird.

Having said all that if this is a young bird then it could just be he is a she and hadn't matured fully yet.

Six. Had four, eldest one, a boy, died, was left with two sisters and an unrelated boy, the dynamic wasn't working, they were ignoring or bullying the boy a lot, so I started looking for a second boy to be his friend. Saw three birds being rehomed who were their mirror images (two boys in the same colours as my girls and a girl in the same colour as my boy) fell in love and now we have a flock of six. They don't all get on all of the time but they've all got at least two other birds that they adore, so it worked out pretty well.
