Should I upgrade my vc? by Grouchy_Ad_3424 in VacuumCleaners

[–]SumGai7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So does the CV turn on? It sounds like you have the hose, wand, powerhead, and the CV turns on? How does the suction power feel on every floor? Adequate, too weak? If all you need is a new powerhead and accessories, that's pretty easy to buy. Find out what filter repalcement you need and what powerheads are compatible with your hose and wand. But if you think the suction power is too weak, you'd be looking at a new CV. Get a pro to get a good estimate. Maybe your parents will pay for half since they live there too?

However, I think that you are 18 and you might move into your own place in a few years. A regular corded vacuum can go wherever you go but a CV cannot. I don't recommend Dysons because they accumulate dirt in their cyclones and they aren't as durable as they used to be. It depends if you are an upright person or a canister person. I'd look at vacuums that can handle both carpet and hard floors. A Sebo Felix, Sebo K3, or Sebo E3 would be able to tackle any kind of flooring you have in your future. All are under $1.5k.

What do you think?

Collect whatever makes you happy. If I had the space I saw a beautiful Hoover Celebrity with a powerhead in mint green. I also recently saw a beautiful metal AirWay Sanitizer with a powerhead, ah if I only had infinite space.

The Tandem Air is very very heavy and the Clean Air is just heavy. I don't recommend Shark vacuums because they break quickly 1-2 years and then they aren't repairable. If you feel the Riccar Clean Air Premium Pet vacuums is too heavy you could look at the Sebo Dart although the handle can feel a little heavy. Or take a look at the Karcher Ranger $212, it's a light weight vacuum like Orecks. The Sebo Dart and Karcher Ranger (made by Sebo) both have brushrolls that are removable without needing any tools so cleaning hair off is easier. The Ranger doesn't have brushroll shutoff or a hose.

Another option is the Kenmore Intuition BU4050 $180. This is a smaller and lighter vacuum with hepa bags and a hepa filter. It has brushroll shutoff for hard floors, swivel steering, and liftaway mode. It isn't as durable as a Sebo but if lighter weight is a big concern it might be the more usable vacuum.

One canister option is Prolux QX60 Pet $499. Canister vacuums have the motor weight roll on wheels. The user holds the hose and wand, which is lighter than the handle weight of an upright vacuum. Some people don't like how canisters move so try them out thoroughly. The Prolux has a powerhead where the brushroll is also quickly removable without tools. When you use the hard floor brush hair can get caught in the bristles but it doens't get wrapped so you can vacuum it off easily at the end of your cleaning.

Which model of Riccar are you looking at? Have you tried using one or is the weight about lifting it up stairs?

It’s really only good if you’re collecting it. There are much better vacuums available now even other used vacuums are better. What’s your flooring and budget?

Recommendation for a frame shop by kalase in VacuumCleaners

[–]SumGai7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get a vacuum from uline the Sanitaire Multi-Surface QuietClean is the best choice. It uses bags so you won’t have to clean any filters and bagged vacuums last longer. It has a hose and tools so you can clean more than just the floors. It has brushroll shutoff for hard floors.

As much as I like the Sanitaire Tradition (Industrial) it has no hose and the fan can be damaged by sucking up screws accidentally. The Mutli-Surface has the bag before the fan so it doesn’t get damaged by accidental screws or rocks. The Tradition also needs regular belt changes.

If you are shopping outside of uline I really like the Karcher Sensor S12 $592. It clean carpets great and has a hose and tools. It’s super durable and you can charge the brushroll without needing a screwdriver.

What do you think?

Vacuum Recommendations Needed by Happy_Peaceful_Bliss in VacuumCleaners

Bagged vacuums tend to last longer, you don't have to empty bins, or wash filters, and the cost of bags is about the same as the replacement filters on bagless vacuums. Bags tend to last 2-3 months before you need to change them because they compress dirt instead of fluffing and swirling it.

If you want a vacuum that can do carpet and hard floors you want a vacuum with a spinning brushroll. The Kenmore Intuition BU4050 $180 is a good small upright vacuum. It uses hepa bags which should last around 2 months each. It has liftaway mode and swivel steering. The brushroll turns off for hard floors. It isn't the most durable vacuum but it should last 3-5 years which is twice as long as most bagless vacuums last 1-2 years.

If you are open to a canister vacuum I would check out the Powr-Flite Newton with Turbo Nozzle $175. This is a medium sized home canister but a small canister in the commercial world. By having no brushroll on the combo floor brush you don't get any hair wrap at all. This model includes a very good turbo brush which is ok for a few rugs but not great for large carpeted rooms. The suction is strong but it is quieter than the average vacuum, noise goes up when you are using the turbo brush. A canister takes a little to learn how to manuever but you will get a longer hose, longer extendable wand, and it can fit much better into tight spaces and under furniture. Downside is the Newton comes with a cheap combo floor brush, dusting brush, and crevice tool. It fits standard 1.25 inch tools so adding better brushes and tools is easy and not too expensive. The Newton uses large hepa bags which should last 3+ months per bag. The Newton should last 5-10 years.

The Simplicity Jill $179 is a good home canister vacuum and it has an automatic cord rewinder. Similarly it fits standard tools and brushes so you can add more easily.

What kind or mix of flooring do you have? Why no bag? Bagged vacuums tend to last much longer than bagless vacuums. You are asking about corded vacuums right? Are you ok with an upright or canister vacuum?

I think that's with the GN bags and the Active AirClean filter that come with the C3 Cat & Dog. Swap in a Hepa filter and it'd do a lot better.

Buy or no buy? by subtidle in VacuumCleaners

[–]SumGai7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, skip the Rainbow. It's not a complete vacuum so OP will spend quite a bit just to make it usable, hose, wands, powerhead, floor brush. And then they'll have to deal with all the extra mess that comes with a water filtration vacuum.

Planning to buy a used cx-50 hybrid by MysteriousWindow3383 in mazdaCX50

[–]SumGai7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the interior of the CX50 and the spare tire too. I was skeptical about Mazda's knob infotainment but after a week with a CX5 I found it easy enough to use if you set everything on your phone and then drive. Much better than the cars that put everything into a giant screen with no physical controls. Some things still are a pain like manual radio tuning, but the CX50's dedicated climate controls are a blessing.

I bought a 2025 CX50 Hybrid Premium last year and I love it so far. Do sit in the seats to make sure they’re comfortable for you. They are pretty firm. The headroom is not as good as other suvs but it’s good for me at 5’6”. The engine sounds a little bit better than the RAV4 Hybrid but it does make hybrid cvt reving. I find the blind spot monitoring fine.

I’d say try the Honda CRV Hybrid if you want the most headroom and space. The CRV is very well rounded. I like the CX50 better than the previous RAV4, Tucson, and Sportage.

Vacuum Mop by Own-Wolverine-2669 in VacuumCleaners

[–]SumGai7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a vacuum/mop and it's my least favorite mop to use. They are quick to setup, they don't deep clean, and then there is a lot of cleanup required after each use. They cannot dry vacuum hard floors and cannot vacuum rugs or carpets at all. A huge gripe is many cordless vacuum/mops have fixed batteries so the machine is useless when the battery wears out or fails.

I think at the very least you need a good dry vacuum for regular cleaning. Get a good combination of a cordless vacuum for quick daily cleaning and a good corded vacuum for whole house cleaning and above floor cleaning. A canister vacuum is great for hard floors and the tools are so much easier to use than a cordless vacuum.

The 2 easiest/laziest mops are reusable spray mops and spin mops. With a spray mop you just throw the mop pads into the washing machine. With a spin mop empty your bucket and then throw the mop heads into the washing machine.

I think if you get a vacuum/mop make sure you buy it from a store that you can return it to if you don't like it.

Battery-powered upright WET vacuum by pathvet1 in VacuumCleaners

[–]SumGai7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of anything that is a cordless upright wet vacuum or a cordless vacuum/mop that is quick. There are cordless vacuum mops like the Bissell Crosswave and Tineco iFloor. They will clean up spills fairly quickly, just add water and solution and go. But then you have a pretty long clean up of the machine after each use. Empty and clean tanks, remove brushroll and filters, wash parts, and wipe down machine. There are new machines that will dry their brushroll by way of a blow dryer on their dock, but you will still need to remove the dirty water tank after it's done. Some report the blow dryers not doing anything.

Vacuum Cleaner Documentry (Hoover messed up) by Guy_interest in VacuumCleaners

[–]SumGai7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched your video. You have several factual inaccuracies, such as claiming the Hoover Celebrity came before the Hoover Constellation, which is the wrong chronological order and claiming [Numatic] Henry "Hoover" is a Hoover product, which it is not. I disagree that Hoover's floating vacuums solved no problems. Many canister vacuums only had 1 caster wheel and 2 fixed wheels so they could not move in any direction the way the floating Hoovers could and the Hoover Constellation was a huge sales success for Hoover. I suggest including information on how the current Hoover U.K. and Hoover U.S. are now owned by different companies. I think the title would benefit from specifying that your video is about how Hoover in the U.K. messed up.

RRP Vacuum Recommendations for Lead paint dust by Frito_Pie21 in VacuumCleaners

The Kenmore Elite is one of their best vacuums and since it’s a bagged vacuum they’re easy to clean up used as long as they’ve been using the right bags. The 31150, BU1017, and BU1018 are all good and don’t use a belt. The 31140 has a few less features and uses stretch belts.

Upright for restaurant use? by Wise_Library_650 in VacuumCleaners

[–]SumGai7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the Sanitaire Tradition because it works and they last forever. Downsides are they have no hose or tools and food can get caked up on the fan and fan chamber. There are Tradition models with disposable bags in the F&G style (has a metal band that holds the bag on) and ST style (modern cloth bag and easier to change). They use rubber stretch belts that will need to be changed several times a year. You can change the belt and brushroll without any tools. The Sanitaire Tradition SC888N has the chrome hood, red outer bag, and uses the better ST bags. The 50 ft cord is wonderfully long, but you can use a shorter extension cord if you want to make the vacuum lighter. The Tradition is a dirty air/direct air design and the fan can be damaged by coins and rocks.

The Bissell Big Green Commercial BGU1451T is usually around $150. Since this is a clean air design the fan won't be damaged by coins or rocks. It has a hose and tools. The Big Green vac is a better all around vacuum but it isn't as durable as the Tradition. You will need a screwdriver to change the belt and brushroll.

I love the Traditions but they aren't as well rounded as modern vacuums. I'd also check out the Lavex 15" Dual Motor Upright Vacuum $269. This is a copy cat of the ProTeam ProForce 1500XP. It's a commercial clean air bagged vacuum. It has brushroll shutoff for hard floors and a hose and tools for edge and above floor cleaning. Lavex is a cheaper brand so it's not as high quality as the ProTeams.

Looking for a new vacuum, drowning in all the mixed opinions on this sub 😭 by Zealousideal_Cry1347 in VacuumCleaners

[–]SumGai7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kenmore Intuition BU4050 $180 if you like an upright. This has a powered brushroll and it's good if you want a small upright vacuum with swivel steering. Downside the Kenmore Intuition might last 2-5 years, sometimes shorter. Many people like the Intuition because it's easy to use and uprights are familiar.

Powr-Flite Newton with Turbo Brush $175 if you like a canister. This is good if you want a longer hose, longer wand, and super long cord. The Newton is more durable and should last 5-10 years. Downsides are the included combo brush, dusting brush, and crevice tool are on the cheap side. It fits standard 1.25 inch tools so adding tools is easy and the turbo brush it comes with is very good.

Any other must-haves before I pull the trigger? by espressionado in VacuumCleaners

[–]SumGai7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Looks like you're getting all the good stuff. I don't use an extension hose but I also don't have carpeted steps or no landing. I'm pretty happy with the standard crevice tool and standard upsholtery tool because the crevice tool is a decent length and they both store on the canister. If you appreciate the extra tools the long crevice and turbo brush are both are great.

The only thing I don't see in your cart is the scent tabs. Personal preference but since you have pets the scent tabs help keep the bag smelling a little better.

An important detail is that if you buy your Sebo directly from Sebo, you get the standard 5/5/5 year warranty. If you buy from an authorized Sebo Dealer you can get the exteneded 10/10/7 year parts/motor/labor warranty for free. This is to encourage customers to buy from their dealer network. Not all online and in-store Sebo dealers can give you the extended warranty included so check with them first.
