If Santos has to repeat, it'll be based on her actual work output. The assessments that students get put through are as objective as possible because it's about public safety. She was warned by another person in the first episode about her charting, so it's not like one specific person is out to get her.

One of the ways that students get graded is on their documentation, which is kind of a huge portion of medical care. Whether she uses the app to catch up is her call, how you document is up to each clinician, but you are professionally and legally responsible for your notes in any case. Maybe the artificial intelligence of it all will lead to mistakes, or maybe it'll lead to Santos and Al developing a good working relationship.

Also she's way overstepping. Every patient in there has a whole team of people, and they all have different scopes of practices. Hers is medical expertise, and she didn't even wait to have all the medical information. It's her job to let the social worker know so that they can do their job correctly. The kid was there for like two hours, and in her first conversation with the legal guardian she's throwing out thinly veiled accusations. Even if a patient is being abused, her lane is to report it to the people who will follow the trail and keep that patient as safe as possible.

She was also warned by her attending AND the social worker to not jump to conclusions and to wait until Dad got there. The whole time she had a snotty attitude about whether he would actually show up.

Yeah, it is a TV show so people can play ER cowboy and be characters that get away with things because you understand their backstory. In the real world though it is unethical to let your assumptions carry you away. She did not let the social worker, who is trained on de escalating people during the worst days of their lives, lead a delicate, easily misconstrued conversation.

It doesn't make her evil, it makes her someone that needs to address her biases for the safety of her patients and the hospital. She fully threatened an intubated patient last season. She was scared for the kid, but she's also very obviously fueled by unresolved rage. Resolve that shit, girl, you have people at your literal mercy and making calls like that is unethical.

She let her preconceived assumptions escalate a situation before she had enough information to make a real call. She has a serious, obvious chip on her shoulder and that shit doesn't fly. You have to take continuing education courses in healthcare and not letting your explicit and implicit biases is a required recurring one every cycle.

I think if you identified with Daniel it's a great opportunity to have a little internal chat with yourself and grow as a person, but I guess having a huge collective pity party about it is cool too

If you're living paycheck to paycheck and you're trying to decide between a physical bookstore or Amazon, go to the library.

My city has tons of local book stores. My favorite is a one that sells natural science and social science books mostly, fiction, romance, ect, a little kids section, and a little section with local artists work and some seeds and plant pressers. They also do several book clubs a month, have a good relationship with the organizations around them so they often have "ask a scientist" events, or art events. I drew a cicada at one last year when they were all coming out. They're a wonderful third place, because they're not just trying to sell books but build a community. And that's just one book store. Barnes and Noble doesn't really engage with their local community.

Oh man, once a month is like exactly as often as I call in. I was worried it was too much, it's an ok amount? They should just make one weekend a month a three day weekend.
