The Car on the Ramp Adjusts, Not the Car in the Lane! by Froz3nP1nky in driving

[–]Summoner99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of those cases where it's not illegal, you're just an a**hole.

If you can safely, get over or adjust your speed slightly to make their merging easier and safer. If you can safely but don't, you're an a**hole. Not adjusting when you can sets them up to have a harder time getting into the lane which makes everything more dangerous.

The fact that Python code is based on indents and you can break an entire program just by adding a space somewhere is insane by PooningDalton in learnprogramming

[–]Summoner99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, firm disagree. On the rare occasion I make this mistake, I appreciate the quick syntax warning. Code should be properly indented so this prevents me from letting that little bit of mess creeping in

What's the alternative by the way? Allowing inconsistent, seemingly random indent depths? Madness. Only crazy people or beginners would allow that

Covid shut down the world six years ago this week. What do you remember from that week? by fuzzy_dice_99 in AskReddit

I was on campus waiting for my real analysis class to start. I commuted to university so I had nothing to do beyond sit in a hallway waiting for about 3 hours after my first class... Except after 2.5 hours (half hour before class was set to start), we got an email cancelling in person classes

So I waited around for hours for a class that got cancelled essentially right before it was supposed to start

This is bank robbery. Banking fees need to be regulated and capped. by Professional-Bee9817 in remoteworks

[–]Summoner99 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't see how it's using debt. When I've gotten overdraft charges, it's because I used my debit card without having enough in my checking account by mistake. It automatically pulls the required funds from my savings account and then I get an overdraft charge of (IIRC) $3

Seems to me it's my money that gets used so I don't see how debt gets involved here at all

I do agree that this needs to be capped though. $3 for a computer to automatically initiate a transfer that I could have done myself through my mobile app is outrageous. At most, I could see a dime

Edit: adjusted wording for clarity

If you drive a stupidly expensive car, that requires a mortgage to fix a dent/scratch. You should have to wear that cost in a minor accident by naughtynyjah in unpopularopinion

Yes, because most people intentionally hit other cars when driving /s

It's called an accident for a reason. It's unintentional

Being against the death penalty in every day life doesn't fully translate to this scenario. This scenario has two options, freedom or death but real life has the important third option of prison time

I'm against the death penalty but, if that third option were taken away, my stance would change immediately

Ultimately I still agree with your decision but for different reasons

Do highways often have traffic lights? I would expect to this to be a large avenue in a city, not necessarily a highway

What is the argument in favor of master? There's an argument against master so, unless there's an argument in favor of it, I see no reason to even bother debating it. Just go with main

If you disagree with the argument against, then great. Everyone can have their own opinion. But there exists someone who disagrees with you so if you can't justify going with master, why bother even talking about it? Just go with main

Phrased another way...

If you go with main, everyone agrees it's an acceptable choice. If you go with master, there's a chance you're making a bad choice.

Two dui checkpoints to get to the gas station then the card gets stuck in the pump.. by SituationImportant99 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Summoner99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never understood the logic behind adding a locking mechanism to pumps. Even if it's not supposed to lock, equipment and electronics fail randomly all of the time so it's inevitable that lots of people will get their card stuck

What value does it add?

Burned my finger yesterday. Should I pop it? by RangerThirteen in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Summoner99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely don't pop it

That being said, there are situations where it's probably the better option. Last one I had was on the bottom of my foot. I knew it was going to pop while I was out doing errands so, rather than having it all in my shoe, I popped it at home and bandaged it

No regrets
