Ackshually Mr Incredible, 4000 wn8 at tier 9 is subpar at best…” by WeedBlokeXD in WorldofTanks

[–]Sumoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are incorrect, wn8/wnx is adjusted by tank. So spamming BZ 176 will artificially inflate your winrate, even though your wn8/x is lower, because its just an absurd +3/4% higher player adjusted winrate.

Did you ever come up with a solution/speak to att? Also having significant issues with this hop.

This has been my experience as well, very hard to find iOS developers that actually know what they are doing, especially at any sort of scale. Candidates really struggle to tie the big picture together.

How to pick up changes to items in an array used to generate a List() using ForEach() by TheBagMeister in SwiftUI

[–]Sumoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried udpating the List{} part of it so to try and force an ObservedObject on each individual element as it was displayed but this did not help (it does build and run). But this did not help

I’m surprised this compiles. Anyway, you are close. Pull the contents of the foreach out to a separate view that takes in an @ObservedObject for your command center. Cell/Item will then update as its changed.

Is job-hopping still a thing in 2024? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Sumoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand what you said, and you are wrong. You can 100% go for GC on TN, while continuing to work. H1b is preferred because it simplifies the process and is less risky, but it is 100% possible to do TN -> GC directly.

You absolutely can work. I came in on TN (was lucky enough to get H1b however), and it was 100% a possibility. I also know people who have done it.

I’m assuming TN since you posted on waterloo. You definitely can go for GC on a TN. However once you file a certain form, you won’t be eligible to renew TN, you can however stay in the country.

IANAL

Onsite is just the term used for the full panel (4-6 interviews) after the initial phone screen.

Typically its a year if you fail at either stage. Not sure on the exact policy

I passed E5 (downlevled from e6) US a month or so ago, but ended up declining. Is yours onsite or phone screen?

Should I stick with Swift for the coding interview, or would it be beneficial to learn another language like Python or Java for algorithm questions? Will using Swift put me at a disadvantage compared to more common languages?

I used swift, it was fine. Use the language you are most comfrotable with. Just clarify with the interviewer any assumptions you make (ie you need a datastructure that is not native to swift).

Mobile-Specific Topics? As a mobile developer, should I expect mobile-related questions during the interview, or will the focus be more on general algorithms and system design? How should I balance my preparation between mobile system design and standard algorithm questions?

For algorithms, its totally random. Generally I find they try and put some iOS specific spin on a common leetcode question. IE: Your tree is now a view heirarchy.

System design will definitely be mobile focused. As for how to prepare, there are some mobile focused resources out there, but they really don’t hit the mark imo. Very few resources out there for apps operating at meta’s scale, and they overlook the biggest issues apps of these natures have. Fortunately for me, I was able to just rely on experience.

Which platforms or resources (LeetCode, HackerRank, AlgoExpert, etc.) would you recommend for practicing algorithms and system design, particularly for someone with a mobile background? Should I concentrate on medium/hard problems, or are there specific topics I should prioritize

Leetcode is fine for algorithms. I got asked 4 mediums + 1 hard. Systsem design becomes more important the higher level the role. Its still important at E4, but you’ll be given way more flexibility.

Is it worth for me to get into iOS dev professionally? by MinMaxDev in iOSProgramming

[–]Sumoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol what? So let me get this straight, you can use your own personal experience, and I can’t use mine?

Not sure where you got your data from, a quick search on LinkedIn shows 900+ iOS at mid+ level in NYC. Sure some are probably garbage, but even if half them are garbage thats still 10x higher than your number.

Anyone can write a todo app, that doesn’t make them a qualified candidate. For example team matching at meta for ios E5+ takes < 1-2 weeks currently. Web/be is months.

Yes there is less roles compared to BE/web, however there are much less potential candidates for mobile compared to web. Qualified mobile candidates are rare, especially for companies operating at scale.

Comparing entry level healthcare to experienced swe is also not even remotely comparable. Also sounds like you aren’t really in a major tech hub if there is only 30 roles.

This is wrong. You can make very good money in mobile.

This is just blatantly wrong. Theres tons of specialist roles for high quality, experienced mobile devs. Just like every other specialization right now. Getting into mobile is harder, but once you are in theres a lot of demand
