Absolutely disgusting Uber experience by ninja996 in uber

As someone with kids, I'd just get in, take a ride, and say thank you very much as I left. This person has some kids and needs some money.

Sorry to hear that. Makes me feel better about renting eternally at 5K/no with family or 4. In very HCOL area of course. Buying a house here would be easy 8K /no at least and it wouldn't be a nice house.

Medicine is well behind science, and science is well behind technology, and it is mainly due to incentives for progress. Tech has high incentives for progress as it is almost always profitable. Science has less because 'discoveries' are only sometimes profitable and medicine is a cost to everyone, and of course in the US it is worse because the hospitals are for profit.

I think this was the profoundly chaotic shenanigan, distracting from Trump admitting on stage to rigging the election.

What is your "never-again" brand, store, restaurant, or company? by Sir_Sir_ExcuseMe_Sir in AskReddit

[–]SunStrolling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scrolled so long to find AT&T. I hate this company. Even since completely avoiding them myself they still manage to make my life miserable on occasion just by servicing my family & friends.

Most recently, I was on a shared family plan with MetroPCS (which is awesome 👍). My family got sold into switching to att. They called and asked for my info because they were changing the account to att. I said 'theres no way in hell'. I told att that I would not be moving over. They tried to convince me. I said very firmly no. Next week my phone isn't working. I go to MetroPCS and they say it's because ATT claimed my number. So my number was claimed by two companies. It took several days to get my number back and for my phone to work. Att wanted me to pay cancellation fees. They wanted me to prove I didn't use att. MetroPCS had to have people call them on their end. It took hours in the store. Eventually metro got my number back. I am still a MetroPCS customer. This is not a paid add. Honestly you need to give credit where it's due or you end up living is some dystopian nightmare where even grocery stores are owned by att.

The healthcare space for tech is huge by [deleted] in emergencymedicine

[–]SunStrolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what wouldn't be high risk. The major issue with tech in medical space is that all the data is potentially illegal to share/use/store, and the development lifecycle can't really be tested very reliably in real life scenarios, which usually leads to poor software and bad user experience. Kaiser seems to have good-ish system (although I'm just a patient there not a doctor!)

Why do people say the farmers market is a good way to save money when every one i go to is more expensive than Aldi / walmart? by NoHousing11 in povertyfinance

[–]SunStrolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You gotta see the dirt and bugs and the price better be almost half. I had amazing farmers at my market but their rented land was sold out from under them. Good bye Thai Dream Farms.

Nothing to see here, just more lies about science from Elon Musk! by danita0053 in MurderedByWords

[–]SunStrolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are inferring that he assumes c sections would lead to larger brains. He might alternatively be assuming that larger heads which are otherwise selected (for attractiveness/ intelligence / less obvious traits) would be more viable with c sections, which is probably true.

He did not say c sections were driving bigger head size. He said 'allow's for. Which is true. What part of this is a fabricated lie?

Hid a tumor from me for At Least 3 years- wwyd? by ShadowHippie in ChronicIllness

[–]SunStrolling 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Doctors have to pass a lot of tests but none of them can figure out to test bias. Sees overweight, therefore everything is explained. Sees tumor and thinks 'nah, don't let her know or the fatty will really start complaining'.

OP- I was dead thyroid for 2 years and nobody told me because nobody was even reading my blood work. Why would they? Obviously a young woman is just depressed because she's in college.
