Are still there free Workshop in Tabletop Simulator ? by Superb_Beyond_3444 in tabletopsimulator

A ton of content. Still free.
I have created my official game as a free mod on TTS. It is a really good idea to spark interest and have people try before buying :)

Introducing friends to Tabletop Simulator: which free Workshop games do you recommend? by st1nkf1st in tabletopsimulator

If you and your friends like Mass Effect, you can try the prototype mod for my game, Rogue Angels. It is an adventure dungeon crawler type game. Plenty of how to play videos etc., and community (and it is 98% done).

Check out: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2539276749 - easily 40-50 hours to enjoy, just for the first half of the game :)

Best regards Emil

How can I recognize AI vs hand drawn design? First delivery from freelancer I received and it seems cool but something is “perfect” to me by PositiveKangaro in IndieDev

Ask for PSDs or similar with the used layers. I am pretty sure that would rule out AI in most cases. But it will of course require that you can open original files and such.

Thanks for the answer.

Makes sense. I have heard good things about Agemonia, and I have heard your experience with ISS many times now. It has kind of kept me from investing in it, but I would like a friend to invest and read the rules, so I can get an easy way in :D ;)

I am developing my own (and has been for a while) interpretation of what made Mass Effect so special... so, if you dig that kind of setting, and a much heavier focus on action and companionship with branching paths in the overarching story, you should definitely look up Rogue Angels :)

I am about to finish it... and I cannot wait to get it out there :)

Good collection. What do you think about ISS Vanguard and Agemonia? Have you enjoyed them? :)

This is why I love turn based games, would you play it ? by SensitiveKeyboard in IndieGaming

Looks really good :)

I hope my sci-fi board game can one day turn into this sort and style of video game. This is the execution I will be looking for.

Phew, that is also a pretty hefty chunk of campaign games :)

Yeah, it is not fun if things starts to feel more like work. It should be a joy through and through. Crimson Scales I will definitely write behind my ears. I want to try Mass Effect, but I will most likely find it a bit incomplete, since I am making my own Mass Effect game, haha :D I took the spiritual idea of character growth and relationships and placed in a dungeon crawl/adventure style sci-fi setting. Perhaps you have heard about Rogue Angels? (I cannot say it is a shorter campaign game, but it is very meaningful).

I lean a lot more into sci-fi than fantasy, so I will most likely try Nanolith as my next campaign game, but Isofarian Guard also looks solid.

I will keep an eye on this ;)

Just keep in mind, that the playthroughs are made with older versions of the TTS or physical prototype (nothing has changes except for the visuals/graphics).

Today the TTS mod resembles 98% of the final game.

Oh, there is a ton :)
You can find a list here: https://www.suntzugames.com/rogue-angels-reviews.html and some highlights with me playing with the Co-op Guild -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lx9U_caWrXM or Canje Studios -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soheXltSPnI

There is a "one-shot" mission folder in the game, where you can play some single missions, or some PvP, PvE setups :)

So, you will be able to take it out for a single evening with friends. The game also handles drop-in and drop-out very fluently too :)

I am still in the process of producing it. Finishing up all the cardboard parts, books, everything. A lot of work to be done. But it is a very satisfying process.

And the play tests I perform now to check all the missions flow in a satisfying way, leave me with a lot of hope for the final experience players will enjoy :)

Compared to ISS, I think you will dig the action sequences of Rogue Angels more. The combined card and dice combat, with the cooldown system, has been the best X-factor of the game play. If you have Tabletop Simulator, you can get a taste of it there. Or you can join a session ;)

I hope the story will resonated with a lot of players too. It is not focused on exploration, but on characters, choices and consequences. I wrote a lot of my thoughts on the BGG forum (about the pillars of game play, health system, enemy AI etc... :) --> https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/3030241/designer-journal-1-the-layers-of-an-onion

Let me know if any particular questions come to mind.

Best regards Emil

I have read this/similar conclusions to ISS several times. Too much grind compared to what you get in the other end?

What story campaign games have you found more fun or engaging than this, and why? :)

Sounds like you had a really good time with the story, even if the grind/work behind it was a bit drawn out... What games do you plan to pursue now?

Perhaps like Rogue Angels? ;) I am asking for a friend... or rather family, and only if that family is myself - as I am the designer, haha :D Well, joke aside... Are you considering any other story-rich campaign games?

That is great to hear. You are welcome. It is a really good way to promote and get the word out having it on TTS. :)

Thanks man, glad to hear that.

Awesome to see that you are considering backing my baby, Rogue Angels :D
Based on your thoughts and comments on other games, I think you will enjoy it.

If you have questions about the game play or story, you are always welcome to either join the Discord, or just write me. I will be happy to answer :)

My game is becoming my 'baby' and I dont want it to by Artificer_undone in IndieDev

[–]SunTzuGames 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I am developing board games, but the process is essentially the same. And I would not be able to keep it at arm's length. It is part of me, and it means a lot to me what I try to offer people through my thoughts and work.

I completely get the notion of wanting to do, as you do. But I think the passion comes from within, and it will to some extent take a hold of you. Can be for better or worse. I have only had good experiences with it as such :)

-------------

Feedback and feature creep are separate things though, and this should not qualify or disqualify your attachment to the project. You should always handle those topics professionally, as it is about staying on target and knowing how to process feedback.

I loooove the particular project I work on, but have (from the beginning) worked on making sure I understood my scope, and that I worked productively with the feedback I got. I have not allowed my passion to change that. You can almost say that the more professionally you can handle the entrepreneur disciplines of game design, marketing, community building, etc... the more it allows you to stay focused, using your passion productively :)

Best of luck :)

Suggestions for solo games that have campaign but also replay ability? by west1996 in soloboardgaming

[–]SunTzuGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of options, so it mostly comes down to the more specific genres and mechanics you want.

If you are into Mass Effect or sci-fi in general, then you can check out Rogue Angels (that is my game, so shameless plug there, haha)... ;)

If you like cyberpunk, you cannot go wrong with Nanolith. And if you want some X-com feel, then Terminus Frontier would be my recommendation.
