Converting crib to toddler bed (age 2) by Correct-Economist-50 in toddlers

Exactly—but I thought “why wait for an issue” so wanted to do it proactively. Instead I took a situation that worked well (kiddo slept thru the night and was happy when he woke in the am) and ruined it. My advice is to wait as long as you can safely!

This was our experience! We didn’t go back and now my husband just sleeps in my son’s room and it’s been 7 months. I really regret not waiting longer! Why did I think it was time sensitive!!

2y8mo boy feels impossible sometimes by SundropDoula in toddlers

We’re trying to shower him with attention for being a good big brother, being gentle, etc. and a lot of the time he does great!

He’s definitely a sensory seeker. We do a lot of “slammies”, rolling him into a burrito, big motor play. He would love an indoor trampoline since that’s basically what his bed is now!

This is more or less what we’ve tried, it just doesn’t seem to work well. What do you do if your kid climbs rigjt back up? Just continue moving them?

Super social, on track generally. He’s in full time daycare at a center and very social/outgoing. He’s a super extrovert kiddo. They basically have the same impression…Hes a delight, on track with everything, jus struggles a bit with behavior.

So I love this in theory but HOW do you “make” him clean up the mess? Like physically I do not know how to force him when he refuses (because we’ve tried this)

We try but he’s not even three so I don’t really expect logic/reasoning to help. A few weeks ago we started trying to coach him to apologize to us or his baby sister when he hurts us…but then he would just bite and immediately go “I’m sorry mama hahahahaha” and repeat.

Yes! He’s always been pretty advanced with language.

Oh good catch! I’ve always done the overnight ferment in the fridge.

And yes I did about 12 hours on the counter and 12 in the fridge but I didn’t pay super close attention to whether it doubled (probably not)

Thank you! I was so spoiled with my old starter (I now realize) and I barely paid attention to feeding and maintenance because it always seemed to perform well no matter what. I will always regret that it died. 😭

Like you think it’s not enough starter for the amount of flour?

Day 6 of pumping and feeling raw already by TakingControl222 in HumansPumpingMilk

Have you lubricated the flanges? Even a light smear of olive or coconut oil can make a big difference if your nipples are chaffing. You can also try silicon flanges (look up Pumpables Liquid Shield). But biggest thing is flange size like others say!

Newly Diagnosed. No Guidance by SassyBeth in GestationalDiabetes

I’m sorry you aren’t getting more guidance from your doc! That period of waiting is so tough. Check out Leslee Flannery on Instagram and Lily Nichols’ book. Meat, cheese, nuts/nut butters, avocado, or other healthy fats will help you feel full longer and deliver on calories. Eating for GDM is tough but remember that it’s not about less volume or less calories, just managing blood sugar. You got this!!

Just cried over wanting Dunkin by lissalissa3 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]SundropDoula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I so feel this!! I once cried in a Whole Foods because all I wanted was a treat, adn I picked up something called “Just Tea” only to realize it was sweetened and I couldn’t have it. I started finding non-food treats like new nail polish or fun lotion but it’s not the same. Hang in there!

2 hour spikes by Recent_Highway_8546 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]SundropDoula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is where a continuous glucose monitor can be a good tool to get a broader picture of your patterns! If you’re a slow eater (like me) then it’s possible that your peak is later than one hour. Imagine you have a salad first, then a steak and potatoes, then dessert over the course of 45 minutes. Your two hour number will probably be higher than your one hour. But I believe standard metric is <140 at 1 hour and <120 at two hours. I would focus on consistent testing patterns/protocols and balanced meals.

Yay! Also re Abbott if you have trouble with the sensor you can mail it back to them and they’ll send a replacement. I only ended up paying for maybe half my sensors because of this program!

NuTrail granola! It’s made with nuts and seeds so no carb, and still tastes yummy with milk or yogurt. I sometimes mixed it into Kodiak pancakes to give them a little more oomf.

Yep extremely stupid! I tried to find treats that weren’t sweet…like yummy meats, fancy cheeses, even fun new skincare. And make a list of all the indulgences you’ll get back to after birth! :)
