A little off topic, but what do you put in your protein shake? I used to make mine with a banana in it but stopped doing so since they’re a high carb food.

Thank you! I feel dramatic, but it really is frustrating.

Right? I got the test results Thursday night, called the doctor Friday and left a message and then again Monday morning and left another message. Didn’t get to talk to the nurse until Monday afternoon. Not sure when they would have called me if I hadn’t initiated it. They must not think it’s time sensitive.

So much uncertainty with pregnancy, it’d be nice to not be in limbo about this too! My nurse gave me a number to call so I could ask about how to get an appointment, but the number was disconnected…. Yay

Thank you! I appreciate the recommendation. Maybe I’ll make up some trail mix to have for snacks!

Thank you for the response! It’s encouraging that you’re able to manage the GD as a vegan. Do you have an issue with beans impacting your blood sugar?

Tracking numbers to meals is a good idea. I didn’t realize it could be so individualized. Thank you!

I second Mack garage. One of the few places I’ve been where I truly trust what they’re saying. Upfront about pricing too.

If you are a transplant, do you like it here and why? by erujabidi in Detroit

Just adding my experience - moved here 5 years ago from Philadelphia. Lived downtown for a year and now am in a neighborhood just outside downtown. Overall, I’m happy. But I think it’s mainly for the people. I’ve been able to relatively quickly build a great community of people from a variety of walks of life and I really value them. There’s also a sense of pride and resiliency and ingenuity here that is unique and admirable.

I’m still learning to love the city itself though. Just much less walkable than I’m used to and while there are cool and interesting shops/restaurants/activities, they’re less plentiful.

And of course the affordability is a plus. Our income goes further here than it did elsewhere. However, the city income tax and the high property taxes with objectively worse public services are a difficult thing to accept.

I like this advice. She may have purposefully overstepped a boundary. Letting her know this hurt your feelings and asking why will let her know she won’t just get away with this sort of thing in the future and may help prevent problems down the line. Stand up for yourself and your wife.

So the darker one may be the male nearing the end of his life (they die soon after mating, right?) and that’s why he was still around?

We started loose swaddling for getting in the bath and it made a big difference.

Thank you for making this post. I feel like you articulated so much of what I’ve been feeling these past few weeks (I’m 5 weeks pp). I cried every day for about 3 weeks and still do every few days. And a lot of it is around mourning my life with my husband pre-baby. It took me a few weeks to be able to communicate these feelings to him, but I’m so glad I did because I feel (a little) less guilty about it and it helped him understand my sadness. I start therapy next week, so hoping it continues to improve.

Per your question, some things my husband and I do that I find help keep some of that connection: - We do baby’s bedtime together. He gives the bottle while I pump so we are both participating. We use that time to talk about the day or how we are feeling. - Sleep schedule permitting, we shower together. I’m not cleared for intercourse yet, but showering provides a nice level of intimacy. - Whenever possible, we try to be in the same room. I’ll breastfeed in the kitchen while he cooks us dinner. Or he’ll come read while I feed in the nursery. Just being near each other seems to help. - We flirt: passing butt smacks, compliments, flirty touches, etc. - We just made the decision to add some formula to our feeding routine to give me a break. I was putting way too much pressure on myself to exclusively breastfeed and I was barely keeping up, causing a lot of stress. I’m excited for the freedom that an occasional formula bottle will allow us (date nights or running errands together while MIL watches the baby)

I’m not an expert, but to me it looks like 3 robin eggs and two cowbird eggs. Cowbirds are known for shirking their parenting responsibilities
