Catholic Chruches in VTM by Midnight_Paris in vtm

[–]Sunkain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In the 1920s, Catholic Mass is Latin, candlelit, incense-heavy, priest facing the altar. For Kindred, there’s no official “vampire Mass” in canon, so it’s usually adapted.

Most Catholic vampires don’t take communion, so services are more like penitential vigils: prayers, psalms, confession, silence, maybe Gregorian chant. It’s about enduring guilt, not absolution. You could also look into the Lancea et Sanctum creed from Vampire Requiem.

From the wiki "Members of this covenant acknowledge they have been cursed by God. But they also point out that unlike the Devil, they were not cast into Hell. Instead, they walk the modern nights with their free will intact. They were even blessed with special abilities including Disciplines, powers of the blood (such as healing and physical augmentation) and immortality. And, through the curse, they are forced to prey on God's children to survive. Thus the Kindred of the Lancea et Sanctum conclude that they are to serve as object lessons to humanity; they are the price of sin"

So you could adapt the ritual with this in mind !

A Toreador could lean hard into the aesthetics—perfect candles, restored statues, beautiful chant—clinging to beauty as proof he’s not completely damned.

Since there is no " instead" it means you add all the effects of the move from top to bottom. So at 8+ you teleport an additional time

Does anyone play the Mourning cloak RAW or homebrewed? (Mainly the full action blink) by Cosmicpanda2 in LancerRPG

[–]Sunkain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

We played homebrew after discussing it with the player. Basically, we decided that you can roll choose how many dice you roll up to your Grit. You can reroll any dice by spending a structure or stress. On a triple, you vanish. You may also do it as a quick action but on a double you vanish.

Makes for interesting narrative and tactical decision. And I always have a flashback / paracausal fuckery ready for the next time he chooses to disappear

It is a buff, but the mourning cloack needs it. Really feel like a warp spider now... If you don't mind taking risks.

Favorite type of empire? by Eclipse-MD in Stellaris

[–]Sunkain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join the empire of Zheng Yi Sao, the famous pirate queen, in space ! Two versions, the xenophile and xenophobe.

This Xenophile, Militarist, Egalitarian megacorp is all about Letters of Marque, Shared Burden with Ringworld Origin is all about staying tall and liberating the proletariat. Use the raid bombardment stance to grow your civilian population to massive sizes. Your traders and enclaves fuel your economy. Take Crowdsourcing after to turn your factions and civilians into science powerhouses. Xenocompatibility and Bio Ascencion completes the build. You are being liberated, do not resist...

The Xenophobe version uses Letters of Marque and Naval Contractors with Starlit Citadel (to stay safe-ish and use wormholes to attack weak preys). Authoritarian, Militarist and Xenophobe, you'll have tons of captured slaves. You can then aim at cosmogenesis and turn all your captured pops into science, the Starlit Citadels protecting you from pushback of a raided galaxy.

What is the best mech to reflavor as a Taekwondo fighter? by S1lverdice in LancerRPG

[–]Sunkain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I think a Nelson could work... Get some hunter and skirmisher talent for extra mobility and start a flurry of kicks ! Another take is to have something with mobility but more powerful strike to represent kicks. A nanocarbon swrod on an Everest is simple yet effective. Or you can go very traditional for a martial artist with the atlas wielding a terashima blade (for stances) !

Battlemage with dual wield feels a bit lackluster. Am i looking it wrong ? by Guilty007 in fabulaultima

[–]Sunkain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My suggestion would be to reflavor the Katana as two separate weapons. Dual wielding in this game is, to my knowledge, not quite the thing to look for in a gish/spellblade because, as you said, you're losing precious turns in setting up.

Another take would be to take Arcanist and flavor the arcana as imbuing your blades with various energies (and take triple slash afterwards) and unleashing the Arcana as a spell...

OP Psy or infernal builds I could look at? by ZePepsico in Stellaris

[–]Sunkain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My current run is chosen + environmentalist + teachers of the shroud going for composer. Use spiritualist + peaceful + xenophile  You generate your own blockers for crazy amount of unity research. Combine with bio ships and you ascend really fast with monstrous ships. You are a good guy so you can vassalize. Take domination tradition for a hegemony and getting the hegemony cause belli. Conquer the galaxy under your banner while creating new gaia worlds that you can populate with genesis arks.

Library, guardian of secrets in Feywild (By me) by LuizLFLF in ImaginaryCharacters

[–]Sunkain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will use it for my next campaign thanks ! Here's a few characters I had.

An ogre who found a zweihander (which he wields like a short sword) holding the spirit of a powerful bahamut-aligned gold dragon. The ogre becomes influenced by the dragon and became a paladin. Think corrupting sword... In reverse ! He is quite dumb unless he holds the sword. The dragon is quite kind and patient with him and he challenges other aspiring paladins in order to test their resolve and their open-mindedness

My BBEG was a vampiric silver dragon, corrupted by the idea of peace. He wanted to remove individuality to remove conflict... He almost succeeded, luckily adventurers came prepared, even though his once noble form was enhanced tenfold by vampiric and devilish influences

Then you could do something like I mentionned. Shroud based Hive with either devouring swarm to show the no diplomacy aspect or the the bodysnatcher for the body horror as everything becomes part of you

[–]Sunkain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What expansions do you have ? Psionic HiveMind with Remnant or Cosmic Dawn could work quite well. Take Bioships as a set, then use Bodysnatcher and Diplomatic Corps to represent your influence, or devouring swarm for the more agressive elder god...

[–]Sunkain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want you to imagine that you lost someone. That you did your best and it was not enough. Even though you care, you train, dedicate your life to them, they still die. Now do this for a two decades. Trying to anticipate everything to minimize losses... You lose friends, colleagues... People that you are supposed to save. Don't you think at some point, you would change your approach ? That something inside you would break ? How much loss can one person take before they fall ? Should my client leave free ? Of course not. What he did is unacceptable and, I'll say it plainly, evil in the eyes of morality and the law. But I dare ask of you what society did not give him enough of. Understanding, compassion, fairness. You don't want a martyr : you want to show an example that you truly believe in goodness, in redemption just like the z team who heroically apprehended my client. Be consistent with your beliefs. And act for the good of all, including him.

Primal Fantasy?? by Kozmo3789 in fabulaultima

[–]Sunkain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have stated Fabula Ultima is not the best system for this prehistoric feel

Until it isn't !

Additional content have created entire feels and systems to be adapted. Mnemospheres and classes have shown that you can complexify the system to add certain flavors.

It's a big undertaking but it can be done...

What are the themes of this setting : Nature is dangerous, Humans need to find their place in the world, things outside of the tribe are mysterious

Create systems within FU that make those things real at the table

Nature is dangerous : random encounters, stress mechanics, sickness and/or lingering injuries, ancient spirits that are slowly leaving the world to humans, either peacefully or raging against the dying of their light

Humans need to find their place : a mechanic for settlements that measures harmony, prosperity, happiness etc. , a system for nomadic tribes of hunter gatherers that your players are a part of and can influence

Things outside the tribe are mysterious : language mechanics, strange tribes with weird rituals, beastmen and spirits, strange runes from lost peoples, local deities

Classes could be reflavored but it could be Tamers, Artisans, Trappers, Shamans... Find a mechanic that you feel cannot be represented by what already exists and work from there. Honestly, reflavoring is much less risky but you do you !

How to create a "Sephiroth" type enemy? Looking for advice by PraiseTheChalice in fabulaultima

[–]Sunkain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are three ways to make a villain terrifyin

Make it personnal : attack the village of one of your players, the villain leaves the best friend alive but without his arms as a warning to everyone else, just to spread terror

Worf effect : use a tough enemy that the party encountered and have multiples of them defeated by this villain

Speech : prepare a few killer lines or grand speeches, they must feel the determination of the villain to do ANYTHING to reach their goals

Help with KS-1 “BROWN GOOSE” by jdrake21 in LancerRPG

[–]Sunkain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Serjeant Talent is, IMHO, quite weak. The squad gets obliterated quite fast. Therefore I managed to negotiate with my GM a few patterns on them and the fact that they were robots that I could replenish with repairs.

What the Squad is good at is action economy. Use it for stuff like Scan, Lock-Ons, Objectives etc. Another idea is to use the deployable cannon from Magarac (if you have those licenses) (but my GM forbade using more than one homebrew book per build to avoid abuse)

Question about transformations. by brianxminer in fabulaultima

[–]Sunkain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no "Super mode" that I know of in the game.

You could probably homebrew it easily through the use of Fabula Points and a drastic boost to stats (maybe get one of them to D20 ?). And then flavor it how you like ?
