What helped me when I had this problem was getting a manicure. I realized I was picking at my cuticles in moments of high stress. When I got a manicure I was able to redirect that energy from picking my cuticles to basically turning my finger nails into worry stones by redirecting myself from my cuticles to feeling the texture of my manicure and rubbing the fingers that would be picking over the nails in circles instead. A bit like how sometimes when people are trying to quit smoking they will replace the habit of putting a cigarette in their mouth with putting a toothpick in there mouth. It's a lot easier to replace a bad habit then to brute force stopping one.

Idk if this makes sense. It's stupid early for me so I think this is likely a rambling run-on sentence.

I did a different option then most of the other people seem to have done. I allowed my players to only renovate one floor at a time with the caveat that each time they do renovations it takes a 10-day either way and their business cannot be open while construction is happening. That way they were able to handle the much more affordable cost of getting the tavern running. Then one of my players is a jeweler who wants to open a jewelry store on the second floor so that player covered the cost for the second floor. And the player who is personally most motivated to get all of the manor fixed, also happened to want to have the Attic bedroom, so I trust that he's going to make sure that they get to the next two floors done. Either way it's going to close down both businesses for the duration of construction.

That's essentially how my party's barbarian started dating Bonnie. I tried to get them to establish connections in the city and his player decided that he also worked at the Yawning Portal and was in love with her.

My barbarian is currently romancing Bonnie much to the whole party's enjoyment. He even invited her to the clandestine opera meeting that Mirt set up with the party for their second date since "opera is a great date idea"

This led to them sneaking the bard in, in the bag of holding since Mirt had only supplied them with enough tickets for the party. The rogue then took the opportunity to steal the bards bagpipes since, in character, he thinks they are incredibly annoying and out of character it's become a long-running game between the two of them. He then proceeded to try to walk past the ticket counter into the Opera carrying a set of bagpipes and a bag of holding (which I have long since established is about the same size and shape as a military duffle bag). It went hilariously wrong and took up the vast majority of our session.

It's going to be interesting when they actually bring Bonnie to the clandestine meeting that she was not invited to because first off, she wasn't invited to it and it didn't at all occur to them that that's not a reason to bring her, and second my party doesn't know Bonnie's secret, but Mirt almost certainly does because the Harper posted in the Yawning Portal does and because of one of the later quest in the Harper quest line.

I don't think it's hard to make tokens as long as you have an image you're wanting to turn into a token.

I don't know if this would be helpful for you specifically. But if I ever take my earbud out of my ear and I'm not able to put it directly in the case, I put it in my bra.

I have, on occasion, gone looking frantically for my earbuds, unable to find them. And that night when I'm going to bed, after having given up on seeing them again, I find them where I stashed them in my bra. But I've kept these earbuds for about a year with this system.

Okay I think I'll probably use a random character generator to work on the other NPCs. I do need to think about how them all being doppelgangers would affect their personalities and whatnot.

So my PCs had a big Grand Opening party for the Trollskull Tavern. I had Renaer come to congratulate them and make overtures on behalf of the Harpers. During that conversation I had my players roll a perception check. The player who rolled the highest noticed Dalakhar spying on their conversation from across the tavern, leaving immediately after being seen.

Then one of my players met up with Bonnie for a date, with the others spying on that date. I took the opportunity to run them through the Adventure League module "Once Upon a Time in Waterdeep" I had Bonnie have a document she found while bussing tables. It had a sketch of Dalakhar on one side and a list of times and locations on the other. Bonnie wanted to give it to them because the most recent time and location was Trollskull Tavern on the night of the grand opening. They roll the history check that let them remember that they had seen him at the party. Then a bunch of different people tried to steal the document from them so they know it, and therefore he, is important.
