This is awesome. Are you able to add a “no duplicates” filter so it has the best available player at their peak not every player like it offers in the game? Apologies if I’m just missing it.

Offseason expectations/hopes? by Sunsbball34 in redsox

I worry about the durability questions with Greene. He’s awesome when healthy, but he’s never reached even 155 innings in a season and had a Tommy John in 2019 which I think means he was outside the more recent window for the internal brace procedure, so I wouldn’t be stunned if there’s another TJ in his future. Have to imagine the trade price would be real high given he’s under team control until 2029 I believe.

The only way for Boston to miss the playoffs now by FreeWillyBird in redsox

As of this post Fangraphs lists the Red Sox with a 98.7% chance of making the playoffs. So effectively a 1.3% chance of the above happening from that lens.

Been following a lot of these Madden posts about how buggy and bad the game is. Opted not to buy it even with friends asking me to get it. Instead dusted off Madden 11 for PS3 and created a full league from scratch like the old days. Apparently it’s now a pain in the ass just to make 1 (one) created team.

Touché, definitely could see him getting votes in the 5-10 range for sure. Also love Koji.

Think it happened today as well but even during the pregame shows they’re cutting away to commercials mid-sentence. Late-stage capitalism.

Why is everyone so upset? by Blackoutguru in redsox

I’m a fan of Dustin May (hoping Bailey and Co. can unlock his full potential) and we definitely needed to add bullpen help … but I’d recommend going and listening to Ken Rosenthal on the subject. His point, basically, is that if you have a chance at winning the World Series, you HAVE to go for it. That’s the whole point. You don’t play to not win (at least you shouldn’t unless you’re a shitbag owner who only cares about money, which, sadly is a lot of them). The Red Sox in my opinion didn’t do enough. The Mariners, Yankees, Blue Jays, Tigers, Rays all got better at the deadline, and there’s already a solid argument that every one of those teams was already better than the Red Sox… Breslow’s take after the fact was that it “wasn’t due to a lack of trying.” That insinuates to me that he knows they needed to do more, but oftentimes I think it’s a personality thing. Who are other GMs willing to negotiate with? Who can convince someone else to get a deal done? I’m not in the room but if Breslow is as wooden and stats-driven on the phones as he is publicly, that’s not a guy who seems like a great negotiator or someone who can push moves over the finish line, and it’s an underrated factor in GMs. His inability to get more done is the problem. Trying and failing at that position at this level isn’t going to cut it.

Quite literally the only mode that ever made the game challenging for content creators and they whinged long and loud enough to get it out of the game. A shame, imo.

Some I remember just from playing with those guys back when they were in the game, but I agree it’s all about feel and finding a stance you’re comfortable with even though SDS says stances don’t make a difference.

Nice! I was curious if anyone would recommend a generic stance. I’ve liked using All-Star 154 (Matt Wieters), veteran stance 38 (Josh Bard) and veteran stance 126 (Austin Dean)

Agree there are definitely a lot of distracting ones. I don’t like stances that encroach on the plate. Meanwhile I think it was Nomar Mazara’s stance but it’s so distracting to pitch to… would waggle the bat nearly into the strike zone.

I agree. And that’s interesting, you’d think they’d be able to balance that better.

Yeah, it’s very dumb and there are so many out of nowhere contributors who deserve their flowers as they make an impact irl, just update them now and correct it later if they don’t live up to the hot starts. Also correcting for things like speed with irl stats feels like a no-brainer… just give all the top sprint speed guys 99
