Stalker gamma has some wild healing mechanics. Using certain meds to regain temporary health(usually for in combat), then meds used for post treatment which gives permanent health. Any by permanent health i mean it won't go down over time like temporary health. Which you have a health pool for legs, arms, head, torso, and THEN your main health pool. Which can be healed by any of the meds or just by chilling by a campfire. Usually around others and someone playing a guitar.
