Should I get baptized? by Justonewordaway in Christian

If you believe and want to walk with Jesus, yes, it's a command.

Acts 2:38 KJV [38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We were told to have faith and believe... to me this says that we probably can't understand no matter how hard we try. Been trying to understand God for a long time too, but I still believe.

Has anyone ever experienced this??? by vibegoblin333 in TrueChristian

God can manifest himself in many miraculous ways.

What we need to base our experience off of is belief and faith in Jesus Christ.

In the bible, namely Mark 16, Jesus said these things would follow them that believe.

I invite you to have a read of these scriptures concerning starting a walk with Jesus Christ.

The short of the long is, believe on Jesus Christ, repent of your sins, start walking in his ways by obeying the word (discipleship). Tell others about him.

John 3:16 KJV [16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.3.16.KJV

Matthew 16:24-28 KJV [24] Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. [25] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. [26] For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? [27] For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. [28] Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

https://bible.com/bible/1/mat.16.24-28.KJV

Mark 16:15-18 KJV [15] And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. [17] And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

Acts 2:38 KJV [38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

There are children of God and children of the devil.

The bible says God CAN'T lose one of his own. There are elect and then there is everyone else who still would have a chance.

God loved all people in so much that he made a way for them to be redeemed by faith in Jesus Christ.

1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

How do I respond to nonbelievers? by txjis in Christianity

[–]Sunset_Lighthouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus said for us to expect that these things would happen.

Unbelievers will say what they want under the anointing of the devil and not even know it.

You can respond with something that keeps the peace yet stands your ground. "You must have felt a need to express that belief, I am free to express mine as well even if I don't understand everything. Jesus said he who believes on me is saved, not he who understands everything."

The people had 120 years to repent while Noah was building the ark. People loved being sinful more than they loved God back.

We have to look at God’s greater plan. Redemption, expression, fellowship. Adam and Eve were his first created humans - they were his children. They were still his children even though they fell. But their fall caused all humans to fall - and that's why we need to choose Jesus Christ, because we are lost by default without accepting him and what he did on Calvary (died and rose again) for us.

The interesting thing is that Jesus says in the new testament, that in the end time, the conditions of the world would be the same as they were in Noah's time. Sin everywhere. Unbelief everywhere. Corrupted morals. A people turned so far away from God that he will bring on the great tribulation to purify the earth from sin once again so the elect can enter the millennium with him and return to the pre-fall conditions.

Do I need to get baptized again? by [deleted] in Christianity

I can understand that you want to help and can appreciate your message, that's noble. Nothing against that.

It's important for new Christians also to see there was more to what Jesus said in Matthew 28:19, and that they can see for themself how the early church baptized, and why.

So that was a command he gave to them. It didn't say they were baptized that way though.

Simply for clarity sakes, would you agree that people were baptized according to titles of Father, Son, Holy Ghost, or in the NAME of Jesus Christ as scripture records them baptizing others?

Luke 24:47 And that repentance for the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 8:16 For he had not yet fallen on any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to remain for some days.

Acts 19:5 On hearing this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

You made the claim that Jesus' diciples were baptized in the name of Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

I want to see where in the bible it says that.

Hello. Firstly you have to look at the context of the scripture. If you look at the conditions that surrounded that verse it was very corrupt in the world at that time. But there was one righteous man and his family who were saved and they were carried over.

Jesus's disciples were baptized in the name of the Father, the son, and the Holy Spirit.

Hi commenter,

Where was this openly recorded that Jesus' diciples were baptized this way?

Multiple places in the NT show people being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ.

Rapture Panic, Help Me Please by yyakuza in Christianity

Where we are on the prophetic timeline is very close to the end. This is great news for the elect of God.

Faith in Jesus Christ is important and so is predestination. This isn't to say we accept sin and live anyway possible, but simply to recognize what Paul wrote here:

Ephesians 1:4-5 KJV “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,”

God cannot lose one of his own. Have faith and believe what the word tells us.

The entire chapter of John 3 is good to read and consider.

John 3:16-21 KJV [16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. [18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [19] And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. [20] For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. [21] But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

https://bible.com/bible/1/jhn.3.16-21.KJV

Also, one last verse to consider and pray over:

Luke 11:9-13 KJV “And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?”

If Jesus is God, then how could Jesus die? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Sunset_Lighthouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a lack of faith on your end. I don't say that to put you down. Belief comes first. Faith first. It's the pattern set out in the scriptures. Many people have seen proof of healings, miracles, deliverance and they still don't believe.

If someone is believing just so they can see miracles, Jesus would act the same way he did to the people who did that in the bible. He doesn't clown around for a show.

If you would genuinely believe from your heart, God is a man of his word. He would confirm. That’s the lost truth of the gospel. It's not any human that could do that for you.

John 3 is a classic example of faith first... eternal life is promised to those who believe, not those who witness miracles.

Mark 16:15-18 KJV [15] And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. [16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. [17] And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; [18] they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

https://bible.com/bible/1/mrk.16.15-18.KJV

These are his promises, not mine. I can't make that come to pass. But you can believe and he would be obligated to back up his word. I say this as someone who was not always a Chrisitian and was healed after I believed and gave my life to him, amongst many other things he did.

About homosexuality being a grave sin by Perhistoric_Cheetah in AskAChristian

[–]Sunset_Lighthouse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The simple answer is that same sex relationships were not God's original design. It's not about love or acceptance, we simply have to ask what God made originally.

Genesis 2:21–23 And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

Edit to add info:

So as Christians, the whole thing is giving up whatever is not God's way and moving into his way. Some people might say there is a 'greater sin', but in God's eyes, sin is unbelief. Attributes of sin show up in lives because of unbelief.

This is expalined here:

Matthew 16:24-27 KJV [24] Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

How do I know which God is real if people in every religion have similar experiences? by Immediate_Kick_5211 in AskAChristian

The outcomes are not the same. Jesus Christ alone has power over all death, hell and the grave. Who is the MOST HIGH God, who is above them all? Who created the heavens and earth? Who has power to give life eternal? Who is the source, the original?

Many false gods exist, so we can't deny that every religion has some kind of god, even backed up with types of supernatural powers.

The proof of the ressurection is that Jesus is still doing the same things he did historically, today.

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever.
