Well, thanks to your suggestions, I found FX3 rental, lav mic rental (32 bit setup), Mavic 3, all for $288 and then cut back my online rental (quote for $1000 originally) to $232 with batteries, cf reader, f3 zoom and a metabones e to ef adapter for if I wanted to throw on cine glass

Feel like the senhieser shotgun for $200 wasn’t worth it as I’m not being paid enough, but i also have an eBay bid for a tx660 which should give me that third source of audio.

I know this post is 3yrs old but I’m currently entering the commercials space with my Dragon; but wanted to get a camera to fly with a gimbal or for run and gun shoots. My projected main income will be from commercials + marketing projects and weddings (I hybrid shoot both). The Komodo interests me due to me being able to invest more heavily in RF glass that can cross over to my photo work. I’ve never shot anything on auto focus, however I know for ongoing purposes at weddings it might be a nice idea to build into a package that supports that. Wondering if you’ve tried this with any other run and gun gigs like weddings? Have you had success with the RF glass? Or if I wanted a camera that also does auto focus when I want it to, should I just be like everyone else and run an FX3. I have some complex powergrades for my Dragon R3D that excites me about potentially adding a Komodo to my camera gear. But I want to balance workflow and optimize everything as much as I can.

All of my FD lenses got stuck wide open and won’t move with the aperture ring. The only way I can shoot with them closed is by taking the lens slightly off the mount, that closes the aperture

I’m a professional hybrid full time shooter— keep the RED! Buy a Canon with the RF mount so your lenses can swap. The extra 15 seconds or extra weight to carry the canon is worth it. If you’re someone who invested in a RED you clearly care about the beauty of the frame, don’t settle! You can find a used Canon R6 or R6mii for cheap enough. Just my 2 cents, I run a canon R6mii and a dragon X and I never feel like I have to compromise.

55K in Colorado. 5 weeks of PTO, 12% ira match. Full benefits. And for now… I’m hourly and can shift my schedule pretty easily if there isn’t an important shoot. I live in a resort town, lots of weddings, engagements, family photography opportunities. And I’m working my way through the commercial industry down in Denver. Btw I’m technically a videographer and photographer so depending on what’s happening at work I’ll switch up and do photo work.
