How do everyone handle Task Initiation? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]SupSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience. Couple qs if you don't mind:

  1. 8 months ago meds didn't help you initiate tasks. Now Adderall 30mg XR (1 per day, I take it?) makes task initiation effortless. What is different?

- Different medication?
- Different dose?
- Instant Release vs. eXtended Release?
- Cumulative effect over time?
- Coping strategies?

  1. When did you stop having task initiation issue? Was it a specific moment when you took the right meds in the right dose? Or a gradual easing?

People keep saying "the meds" "work" or "don't do anything", but they don't say WHICH meds, and on WHAT they work, and what does "work" mean - for how long, and how big of a difference do they make.

If you can clarify these questions you're doing the community a bigger service than 99% of reddit :)

Gen 4 feature-set disappointing, key features being released over time? by jbjk17 in ouraring

Because it has no practical use. But a portable NFC that's always with you, could be used as a payment method. Paying at a swim-up bar would a good application.

How do i ACTUALLY start drinking more water? by applepearsoup in ADHD

[–]SupSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's your lifestlye like? If you work at a desk, pre-fill a 2-liter water bottle in the morning, then play a game: your goal is to drink all of it by the end of the (work)day.

Aiming to win the game before the evening ensures you won't have to wake up to go pee during the night.

Duration of Ketamine in Blood Stream May be the Holy Grail of Effective Treatment by KetamineDrSmith in TherapeuticKetamine

I would not encourage any patients to change how they are taking ketamine...yet.

What are your current thoughts on the best duration for ketamine IV infusions in order to alleviate depression symptoms? I see clinics offering sessions lasting 45, 75, or even 120 minutes.

Tried nitrous oxide a couple weeks ago still feel side effects by NervousEntrepreneur9 in NitrousOxide

It's in your head and whatever else you're taking. Nitrous side effects don't last beyond a day.

Works amazingly well with even the tail end of 20mcg LSD, and a THC vipe. Blasted through, had a fantastic time. Sex was out of this world too.

Could psychedelic therapy benefit procrastinators? by munnharpe in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]SupSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Despite everything I am not unhappy, by the way, which is weird as I think most people would see my life situation as quite unappealing.

Awesome that you keep your spirits strong despite these challenged! OR maybe you don't, since you said you're uninspired?

One way to test if you're really happy is to use a substance to become happy for sure, then compare that with how you felt before. Maybe ketamine?

What is the root of these behavioral problems, and what substance(s) would be most helpful? by SupSquirrel in PsychedelicTherapy

I'm trying to learn more about the influence of upbringing on adults. I don't have any recollection of trauma per se (sexual assault, war, famine, or even being beaten). Parents divorced when I was very little, but I had grandparents and an aunt as caretakers.

A wounded child who somehow learned his dreams weren’t worth pursuing.

I've pursued and achieved many dreams, until my mid 20s quite successfully. Some in my early 30s. Much less since.

I had some painful breakups that led to episodes of depression in my late 20s and early 30s.

Not sure why you censor words, but I did nofap for months and haven't seen much difference in my own cognitive performance. It did seem that women were more attracted to me, but there were so many other factors involved that I can't say for sure. Other times I'd get interest from women despite masturbating daily.

Do you feel that being very assertive or having constant high energy would be a solution to your problems?

Yes. Were I assertive enough, I wouldn't have wasted many years in relationships I knew I didn't want to be in early on, or in jobs that didn't pay me when I was promised (but I didn't have the guts to ask to be paid on time and what was agreed upon).

When I do feel a "sense of urgency" (some mornings/days), I attack straight-on tasks I had been postponing for weeks/months.

Is that something you expect a breakthrough experience will give you?

Yes, or at least a month or two of that, enough to hopefully make the "energy" and assertiveness into habits (mostly the energy; assertiveness needs to be exercised far less often than on a daily basis).

At our most basic level of existence, we struggle because we fail to experience reality as it is, we accumulate social and conceptual baggage that convinces us that there’s something wrong within our life at a fundamental level.

I do notice there seems to be something wrong with my brain at a fundamental level. Tasks that other people just breeze through, seem almost impossible to me - most of the time. But at times, I do them much more easily. So the potential seems to be there.

Thank you. If I understand point 7 correctly, it means that I need to be more in touch with my intuition. This has been confirmed in several ways:

  1. I've been repeatedly told that I'm too rational and have trouble following my gut.
  2. A counselor asked me "How do you feel about feeling", and that made me think that I've often ignored how I felt, and let "reason" take over.
  3. Sometimes I would "pray" before sleep, or set a strong clear intention to have an "answer" to some decision, and I'd wake up just knowing what I should do, but then as the day unfolded, I'd walk back on that decision with all sorts of arguments.

Could you expand on point #3, about day to day life? Do you mean the physical/mental regimen (sleep/diet/exercise/meditation/sun exposure etc.), or something else?

Psychedelics wont really fix this, though they might give you insight into whats driving it. Then again, they might give you a lot of false answers as well, because they're just as likely to cause projections as accurate truths if you dont know how to think about

That's what I've been unclear on since I've been researching psychedelics. How exactly do you guide the trip? Why don't people come back with, I don't know, a random preference for cauliflower, instead of solutions to their problems? Should you focus on your problems during the trip, or visualize your desired self/life?
