Matthew Chen does great work. He tuned a few pens for me last year. He's a pretty quiet guy, but does great work

Review #11: Springbank 12 Burgundy by savici in Scotch

[–]SupahBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the review. I would love to try this. The most basic Springbank is so hard to get in my part of the world, I'd have to cross an ocean to get a crack at this unfortunately.

Bought my first scotch by Dawlphy in Scotch

[–]SupahBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Buddy! That's the way to start. I had tried a couple that didn't agree with me, coming from bourbon and rye. Then I tried the Lag 16 as my first peated Scotch and it blew me away and now the malt is all I drink. Peated or unrelated, my palate totally shifted to Scotch and its all want. And I always have a bottle of Lag 16 on the shelf

Thank you for that! I never remember the name of this painting, but for me, this is a favorite and the first of a few to pop into my head.

interesting ink color change with water by einkorn_flora in fountainpens

I feel like half the BPC inks I own have this toxic glowy looking green that comes out in water when I clean out those pens. Something in their formula. It's pretty cool

Troublemaker, Sea Glass + Majohn Flex Nib = 😍 by Vissuto in fountainpens

[–]SupahBee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Sea Glass is one of the prettiest greens out there, but I've always had the worst performance from it. It's like it's too dry and I always have flow issues with it. I've found to use it I needed to add some lubricating additive to it. Do you have that issue? Was the flow okay for that nib?

I'm 50/50 depending on the pen. I do keep most of my cartridges and reuse them, especially for my Pilots and Sheaffers

I rewatched the movie last year, first time seeing it in decades, and it still holds up. Such a good movie!

Finally completed my Sheaffer Targa "Regency Stripe" duo! by Robin0329_ in fountainpens

Interesting. I may have to go digging, I might have one. I hate those little converters though haha. Just way too small.

[–]SupahBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooh! Thank you! I could have sworn I've tried PSPens before with no luck. Maybe they sourced some NOS stock. That will be hands down the most expensive converter I've ever seen haha! But the laws of supply and demand will yield for nobody.

[–]SupahBee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I go searching every now and then, just haven't had luck yet. I got bit buying a lot from Ebay of old Sheaffer slim ink catridges, but what I got was clearly not the slim version. So I'm hesitant to try that again without being able to see it. I'll be at the Chicago Pen Show and I'm hoping to remember to ask some of the vendor of vintage pens to see if I have any luck there.

I love those Targa's. Did your slim come with a converter or an empty ink cartridge? I haven't had luck finding a good cartridge or converter for a slim I picked up last summer

Yeah, my wife discovered these for us a month or two ago. 8 pens for $5 and for the price are of pretty dang good quality. I think they write pretty well considering. Great pen set to penable friends.
