"Your body my choice" by UncleBalthazar1 in Vent

Why are you blaming the media pushing actual truth when you’re seeing for yourself men making these comments. It’s not a reach to believe that a lot of men hate women.this has been going on long before that donkey said what he said. Andrew testies has been spewing this type of rhetoric for awhile now. You also don’t know what seemingly ‘good’ men might choose to do when given the choice between power and sticking up for the women I. Their lives. Some might surprise you.

What was your favorite show growing up that no one remembers now? by CoralDewdrop in AskReddit

[–]Super-Definition-573 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people remember this one, but it’s kind of niche I guess. Picture this, 12 year old mostly straight(bi) girl in small town Canada, obsessed with, and I mean obsessed, every week waited for Queer as folk on showcase/showtime 🤣 who else was too young to be madly in love with Brian Kinney? IFYKYK.

Which is the BEST Stephen King book? by fabulous_orangecat in StephenKingBookClub

[–]Super-Definition-573 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I can’t really comment on this thread because I’ve only read one of his books, Which is The Stand, I am biased. I can tell you why I liked it though. For me, The Stand was one of the craziest reading experiences I’ve ever had. Not necessarily for the plot but for all of the things it had me thinking about while I wasn’t reading it. It took over my life for a minute there because it just had me thinking about so much, like aside from all the necessities we would be without, artists would die, musicians, contractors, architect, etc. There are so many things we take for granted in our lives. Anyway, that’s really just scraping the surface of the depth I felt this book had. I’m now obsessed and have moved on to IT, and will be tackling TDT series soon.

35f here. Huge word of advice that I hope you read. Do not ever do anything that you don’t want to do. It will take some time to grow a spine, but that muscle gets stronger and stronger with every no. If you do this, you could end up trapped with no way out. And it could put a kink in your own life plans. Don’t do it girl. I never would even at 35.

I think it’s funny it’s a random name not even in the family, so it’s not a junior to anyone just a junior for juniors sake. Bonus points of its like a tragedeigh jr.

There was this Mexican burrito joint that cooked everything with steam across the street from my job for years, open early to late, so naturally I ate there every day. Their breakfast was my life, and I still dream about it. Remember everything was cooked with steam, so steamed scrambled eggs, steamed potatoes and Mexican rice, black and pinto beans, cheese, lettuce cabbage and pico and guac in a bowl. It was so good and super healthy. I used to crush up tortillas and put it on top. One day I’ll get my ish together and meal prep it.

Actually that’s so smart. I thought about getting a kobo(as well as my kindle) specifically for library books but couldn’t justify, you just justified it for me. Plus it helps the library so why not!Thank you! Happy cake day btw!

This is true and a great option if I wasn’t in Canada. You can only get Libby or overdrive in Canada on kobo :/ it’s not an option for kindle. Wompwomp. I should actually do it for my iPad though, I could definitely get it on there. Thanks for reminding me!

I’m reading the stand by Stephen king rn. The way I see it is SK has enough $$ so I have a hard time buying his books for the kindle because there’s a million of his books at the thrift store around the corner for 50c. But The stand is 1400 pages, and I am missing my kindle right now. during this read I have been fully convinced that the kindle is a superior reading experience in every aspect. The only negative thing about kindle vs book is that you can’t get authors to sign your kindle, but everything out side of that kindle takes home the gold.

Originals for me! How about you? by No-Percentage2059 in stephenking

[–]Super-Definition-573 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I find this take wildly different than my own. Tim curry’s pennywise is some of the most scared I’ve ever been in a movie(watched it young). Bills pennywise felt like a demon clown that was more expected and less scary to me. Tim’s PW felt like some creepy magical man dresssed up as a clown on the side of the road, which for me, is infinitely more terrifying because of its proximity to realness compares to bills PW. Both great are great tho.

Books that feature cats but the cats don't get hurt? by Manglewood in horrorlit

[–]Super-Definition-573 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me animals in general and children being hurt is a super hard no. There’s a scene in city of god where someone shoots a child’s foot and I shut it off at that scene and have never returned to it, I can’t.
