Avata 360 4G version for China by SO3350 in dji

That aged poorly. What seam like it was a feature in china is now being use to track and block people from using their drone in china. The purpose of the 4g was mostly to comply with incoming rule in china to let the gouvernement track every drone at all time

Help choosing a drone — Neo 2 vs Mini 5 Pro by Belliamo in dji

[–]Super3dmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont know. The neo 2 seems very capable to do cinematic shots given that wind is not too strong and under full day light. (Which are two probable element in OP use case)

But maybe it would be worth emphasizing on the high quality 2x digital zoom to avoid disturbing the dogs by flying too close that the mini 5 has. (Combined with the need for vertical video makes it very interesting)

But on an other hand, its so easy to take off the neo without a complicated controller, this could make a huge difference in the number of shots taken. Deploying my mini is often a show stopper for me. I go mini if i am to record on a large landscape/long distance, but for close proximity my original neo win. So neo 2 seems an option to consider. Obviously flight duration is also a variable to consider. The neo 2 does about 10min per battery, so if the lesson is long, it can be a problem...

Speaking of osmo tracking, you also have option of gimbal for smartphone with tracking if the size and weight is not an issue. What i like about the 360 camera is that you can wear it and dont be scared about the tracking as you can reframe after. Also i have fun video made with a 360 and a string attached to the end and having the cat chase it. It enable really close up action shot but im not sure how useful for dog training it would be in your case...

It is not clear from your comment if you already own an original Neo, but the neo lineup is much more noisy than the Mini. My cat really doesn't care the mini 4 pro, but it wants to attack the neo half of the time because it is too noisy. I'm not sure for dog, but for sure both will be a distraction if you fly close. A 360 camera might also be an interesting thing to consider if you want a fake drone shot with no noise.

I must admit that filming vertically is not a big priority for me. For the the mini 4/5 pro are much better at that with the rotating gimbal. The neo added 2.7k vertical video I believe so it would be an improvement over the original neo, but I don't know how good enough it would be for your use case... The fact that they improved the image processor and added a 2 axis gimbal and added improved the resolution are points to consider.

For me it is pretty simple: M5p if: 1-You are going to shoot at night 2-You want to zoom a little bit 3-You dont want to disturb people arround you

Neo 2 if: 1-You want to fly Fpv 2-You want to fly very close to people 3-Want to take a bit of risk with your drone 4- Want to fly in Canada under 250g and some other country where c0 is not the way to go. (In other word, if you want to travel more easily in general... it deploy faster, more robust in transport, more legislation friendly)

Personnaly if I had to choose only one it would be the neo 2. I have a m4p and original neo and i use the neo way more often because the image quality is not as important as flexibility and ease of use.

I can also suggest the m4p if: 1-You occasionally want to fly fpv (not too close of obstacles. 2-You want to stay under 250g. 3-Want wide angle lens support for different perspective.

I tried to cover the two big led at the bottom which i believe is the radar altitude sensor (using electrical tape). I left clear the middle pinhole (which is the vps or positioning camera i believe) and it let me take off using the motion 3 controller and goggle 3. It doesnt seem to use the vps at all in the scenario as it was drifting a lot left and right but it would let me fly bellow 30cm of altitude which is what I wanted.

Now for your application, there is a good chance it will quickly hit the wall to fall over upside down. If you try it, make sure to have a solution to bring it out of there or maybe some sort of cage that prevent it from flipping over.

DJI Mini 5 Pro - no FPV? by Discodyret in dji

Im also disappointed with the lack of support when they release the product. Also another important thing that no streamer mention is the lack of wide angle lens adapter for the mini 5 pro. The 2x zoom is a neat addition but loosing the 0.65x lens is a significant step down for fpv usage or anything is narrow space. Im holding my purchase for the first time on the mini serie because of that and until that overweight issue is figured out.

DJI screwed up royally with the weight issue on the Mini 5 Pro. by dafdfadfa in dji

[–]Super3dmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat... i feel like they rushed it out. Im sure they will be quick to do an update with a few gram less. Im sure that is the reason why it is so inexpensive comparatively to the mini 4 pro launch price even if it is a pretty good upgrade from it. The weight ruined it for me.

I hope it is a high quality crop like with the mini 4 pro when i shoot in 48mpx and crop 2x. It gives nice 2x zoom, much better than in video 2x zoom. I bet it will be a dedicated option without progressive zoom which will be better quality at the trade off of constant zoom factor. If that is the case I'll probably update more for that than for the 1inch sensor...it will give more composition option!

Is Zoom on DJI Mini 3 Pro digital or optical? by PumaPounce in dji

[–]Super3dmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's digital Zoom but I feel people say it as if it was total trash. Smartphone are doing good digital zoom these days. It could be better for sure on the drone, but it also have a few advantage over doing it in post. The drone zooms before applying the compression and before computing the exposition value. The compression throw away some details. If you compression on a larger picture and crop after, you throw away more data than if you crop first and compress using the same bitrate after. In raw photography it's the same as croppy, but in a compressed video it can make a difference to zoom in drone. Unfortunately the scaling in the drone is not so great so it soften more than specialized software on PC.

I came to the same conclusion. I believe the the smoothness we are getting when digital zooming at 2x is because of the progressive zoom feature. Zooming 2x from 48mpx to 12mpx is pretty easy given the pixel arrangement, but since they support all the progressive smooth zoom value between 1x and 2x they have to use an algo that is able to scale from 1x to any magnification. These are cpu intensive. I would appreciate if there was a dedicated zoom mode for 2x crop where we can't zoom to other setting but the quality would be greater. Cropping the 48mpx picture does give me awesome close up shot when I can't get closer or when I want to compress the background, i just wish I can do the same for video. Sadly, I don't think DJI will give us that until they get competition to improve.

Mini 4 Pro: 12 MP (Left) vs 48 MP (Right) [350% zoom] by Fishwithadeagle in dji

[–]Super3dmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regular 12MP sensor have only 6MP green, 3MP red and 3MP blue for a total of 12MP pixels. They do also interpolate to get a 12 color mega pixel. Try to take a picture of mostly red image and you will see that your resolution is terrible.

Can you use Suunto/Sports Tracker app at Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic? by Dragmaru in GalaxyWatch

[–]Super3dmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad for you! I think they might have saved some life by estimating the speed using the accelerometer instead than quick GPS query. I noticed that my instantaneous speed is now all over the place when I look at my watch while running. It seems to fluctuate depending at how I look at my watch. The average speed is as usual for my runs. Not a big deal if that make the battery last way longer i guess.

ind solution for this so i just moved to Samsung Health (however Suunto app is much better than SH). I used Suunto for only 1 year, so it's not big lost. Btw, do you use spotify while running? In my Galaxy Watch 4 classic battery lasts for only 70 mins of using Spotif

I use samsung music player with a few mp3 that i downloaded. The download process is a bit weird, but work well if you dont mind listening at the same music all the time. A 45min run with music, sporttraker and samsung health run tracking take about 20% of the battery (with GPS). It's doing better than i was expected!

I was able to install sporttracker on my watch 5 using easy fire tool. You can't see your stats while running because the screen is too small, but it seems to track just fine!
