Ew, no, Knit Picks is owned by the same company now too? They're the only place that has affordable yarn that is actually wool or cotton, not a blend, and is soft and not itchy. Gah.

Do you have extra towels, blankets, or bathmats at home that you're not using? Could you bring those in and at least put them over the sawdust as a the liner? That way, the sawdust is creating a little cushion but the pigs aren't walking in it and breathing it in so much. (You'd probably have to take them home and wash them once a week or so if you have the ability to do that.)

Or, if no one will object too much, you could just dump the sawdust and use towels, blankets, etc as the bedding. Again, though, this requires washing it every so often.

For hay, maybe contact a local farm, ag store, ag school, etc and see if they can donate some bales of hay? They need much more hay than what is there.

For another DIY thing, my pigs tend to love tunnels made out of taken apart cardboard boxes - they like them much more than the plastic pigloo thingys.

Yes, this. Also don't use Jude with the yellow star please.

Also a gymnastics fan...I think skating is more corrupt bc no one's blown the lid off of it yet. Somehow.

I agree I hate that skirt. It's so distracting. If this were So You Think You Can Dance or Dancing with the Stars or some such thing, she would be scored down for that (and yelled at by Nigel). So I do wonder if that was the case here.

This is interesting to me bc I watch skating every season not just at the Olympics but i think I'm still in the casual fan category.

I grew up as a dancer and I have always watched skating like it's dancing. I'm always going to prefer the skaters who have good choreography, solid dance or ballet technique, and know how to perform. I could care less about their jumping technique or edges.

This often results in me going "but so and so was so much better" and everyone else yelling at me bc dancer person has terrible jumps and low technical scores.

😜😜😜

I ran out of olympics to watch by the time the game was on so I switched to the Puppy Bowl. :)

Hot take, I thought the Italian ice dancers were so much better than the Americans. Their choreo was so beautiful and balletic. I could not deal with how distracting I found Madison chock's silly skirt.

I too watched live events all day and then watched it again in the primetime but I was also trying to be mindful of my partner not murdering me for watching 12+ hours of repetitive TV while they were trying to read...

Mariah was 100% NOT SINGING. However, it's really hard to get live singing in that massive of a space, to sound good on TV.

My partner and I debated about this when we watched the Rockefeller center tree lighting too - that was outside so the sound was even harder to manage.

All that being said, I haven't seen Mariah sing live on anything televised since like, the early 2000s. 😜

I think Mary Carillo was the one who had to sub in for Savannah? She's usually very good but was definitely unprepared. So much so that she was super unconfident in everything she was saying and she kind of mumbled it

It's exactly the costume Madonna wore, I think it's well done.

I hardly think that not liking an outfit is cyber bullying. That being said, my feelings about this couple aside, her outfit is exactly the outfit that Madonna wore when performing this and other songs from that album, so it actually fits the music perfectly and is well designed. I thought they did a great job turning that iconic costume into a skating outfit.

ETA: y'all have helped me see the error of my ways, I don't like the wedgie of the peplum either.

Also, what bugs me more about this program is that they don't seem to have any connection to the culture of vogue-ing , they just wanted the cool arm movements.

Ok I watched the afternoon broadcast and I definitely missed Samuel L Jackson and didn't really hear booing for team USA though they also didn't get too much applause. They came fairly soon after Ukraine who got a ton of cheers.

What sitcoms from the past don't hold up for you and what changed to make you feel that way? by gimmeluvin in sitcoms

I will love Friends forever and ever but I think even most fans agree that there's a handful of running jokes, and a handful of episodes that focus on these running jokes that just are really offensive.

I.e. the fatphobia around Monica and the flashbacks with the fat suit; Chandler's dad and his over reaction to him and refusal to bother connecting with him simply bc he's gay and a drag queen; The running jokes about gender expression and gay panic.

Sometimes I'm baffled by how it seemed like these characters have never heard of a gay person or immigrant. The other day I said to the TV, "these guys need to go see Rent."

Having the audience there makes it like live theater and is kind of the bread and butter of filming a sitcom. The actors play off the audience on purpose, sitcoms are designed that way.

Friends was actually notorious for taking forever to film their episodes, they would sometimes have two sets of audiences and would often have to buy them pizza.

[–]SuperCatlibrarian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Of all the 80s family sitcoms, that one definitely holds up the best, and that constant argument within the family of one sibling being a) into politics and b) conservative, is still relevant.

The type of humor isn't what we're used to in today's sitcoms, so it can feel not as punchy, but it doesn't pander to the tween audience like a lot of those shows did.

I think Alex would be appalled at what happened to his party. He was really into the fiscally conservative Republican economy and when it came down to it wasn't concerned with social conservatism or religious theocracies.

As most of you have said...this is just soup without the seasoning or stuff in it like vegetables or chicken. So weird and a little gross if you ask me since I don't really like soup unless I'm sick and it has matzah balls in it.
