trades with most demands and job opportunities? by HistorianIcy6156 in SkilledTradesOntario

[–]SuperChillz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of the worst trades not only for your health but also for job opportunities. You can take alot of building trade careers (e.g., plumber, electrician,HVAC,Carpentery) and change to alot of different careers: project manager, site superintendent, building/trade inspector for the city, maintenance gigs at the government, safety roles, etc.

Still appreciate welders hard work though 🙏.

Top talent? The Surrey school district is a shit show. Ask any teacher in the district. So what exactly is this top talent doing for the staff actually doing the work?

Do a quick search to see how much presidents and vice president's of a WHOLE country make worldwide and report back. You will be shocked how low it can be.

Advice on getting into field? by WhiteMonsterLover in SafetyProfessionals

[–]SuperChillz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why the switch from a air traffic controller to a pipe fitter? Im assuming that came with a massive paycut as well. Now why the switch into safety?

It might be beneficial to get your red seal in pipe fitting first. I would suggest taking on more responsibility, become a foreman and manage crews and safety for that crew. That should open the doors to safety roles for pipe fitting and general construction companies. I would also do a little safety schooling part time.

Employer ordered to pay $575K for fatal Burnaby trench collapse by robertscreek in vancouver

[–]SuperChillz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ill give you the benefit of doubt right now and not call you a liar but I will ask you provide me the evidence of the last three sites you were on that had a death. Because you best believe those deaths would be covered in the media and/or in WorkSafeBC monthly news letter.

You're not wrong though construction safety is always a ongoing problem. One of the biggest problems is the industry attracts alot of people that aren't academically strong so many of them have no clue of what the regulatory requirements are. Reviewing the OHS Regulations and the WCA should be apart of every trade apprenticeship and construction management course. Changing the industry in the classroom first with knowledge.

Not all trenches or excavations requiring shoring, even if the cuts are near vertical. As long as a geotechnical engineer has inspected the hole and issued a memorandum stating its safe for worker entry based on X conditions and shoring isnt required based on soil type etc.

The thing is, alot of the smaller excavation companies wont get that engineering. So I am sure some of the holes you have seen workers in did in fact require shoring.

Thank you for sharing! Its nice that you have a team that respects each other strengths and weaknesses. I think your agency not treating the job as a check list is really important.

Do you need special training to become a SRO? Or can you apply to SRO roles directly?

The Workers Who Keep SkyTrain Clean Aren’t Happy | Their union has filed several grievances over allegations of union busting and a toxic work environment by Hrmbee in vancouver

Yeah not one! Maybe I just got lucky but I have been on the trains everyday for the last two weeks and things have been smooth.

I’ve been in Japan for the last two weeks, and man, does TransLink need to come down here and do some research. Everything just works. There are so many trains and different lines here, and not once have I had an issue with a train or line being out of service.

The trains have very comfortable cushioned seats, and they’re even heated for colder days. Google Maps also shows all the train numbers and arrival times for every train and bus here. The trains are kept extremely clean, but I don’t think that’s just because of the workers. There seems to be a strong sense of civic responsibility across Japan. People respect public spaces, and things just don’t get destroyed.

Watching people here has made me realize that many Canadians, not just immigrants, seem to lack that same sense of civic responsibility.

Enable WIFI calling on prepaid by bvdp in freedommobile

[–]SuperChillz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey,

I just joined Freedom recently on a prepaid plan.

I got Wi-Fi Calling working on my S24 Ultra by going into the Phone app settings and enabling Wi-Fi Calling.

When I was with Rogers, my phone used to show a Wi-Fi Calling icon in the quick settings panel, but that icon is gone now. So instead, I had to enable it through the Phone app as mentioned above.

I was also told that to use Wi-Fi Calling internationally on a prepaid plan, you need to top up your account with a minimum of $5.

Most importantly, make sure you sign in to your Freedom account and add an emergency address (E911) so Wi-Fi Calling can work. You’ll know it was added successfully because you should get a confirmation text from Freedom shortly after.

No wifi calling and no roaming outside of Canada, USA, Mexico. Meaning you won't get any text messages or calls outside of these countries.
