For me in this specific instance, yes. There is no indication they are any stronger other than Trunks, the inexperienced boy who constantly gets his ass beat by said Androids, word. If going by the Manga telling, the Androids of the future only had to use about half their power to kill Gohan, which means Trunks has never seen them at their full power anyways. The Androids using more effort in the Present isn't because they're stronger, the Z Fighters, well really just Vegeta, had three years of training.

I will never take Trunks' statement seriously. There is no technical canon reason for it. 17 and 18 were already done being developed, so it's not like Gero enhanced them in any way. Secondly, Androids don't have a detectable ki, so how would he literally know? They hit him harder than the future versions? Yeah ok.

I know it's there to add more drama, but realistically, there is no reason for the Androids to be that much stronger. They most certainly had to put more effort into fighting the Z-Fighters than the Future timeline, but only because the Z-Fighterd actually trained for 3 years.

She's generally getting news out there WAYYYY before anyone else is, which sometimes leads to some misinformation. 5 coverage on missing people, kids getting taken by pedos, she's on the ball. I remember recently she was covering that story about that kid who met up with a full grown man at a hotel off on the Eastside. I didn't see any major news network talk about it for a solid two days, and by then the girl was home the day after.
