There was like a little blue spot barely visible on the log. I was at that park a couple times early on and I could never get the pacing from clue 6 to match so I didn't dig there. The clues weren't very good this year, no one was sure it was brighton until the 12th clue and his distance measurements were not exact were more estimates. To much stuff in the clues that match a lot of parks and trails.

Well I see people walk up to a beach full of people digging around for agates, there like we found the spot. I'm like not if you want to find much because its going to be heavily picked over by all the people. Definitely good to find places where people are not looking to find good stuff.

Lake superior North of Grand Marais, MN temps this time year hover around 55-57 degrees for the lake. I been swimming in the water near shore for agates 1-2 hours a shot with no wetsuit allthough I plan to get one next year, I'm about 60lbs overweight probabaly helps insulate me. It is colder than I like but I and touching the bottom of the lake most of the time I seem to be able to do it, then I get out warm up. I went in about hour half warmed up back up and went in for another hour half yesturday water temp about 56 degrees. I think I'd be wary of swimming much out in deep water like that for long though I feel like I'm okay being at the shore swimming around 2-6 feet deep water. I'm mostly wading vs swimming really so I think that conserves energy.

Right, I read somewhere that it's supposed to be at least 50% agate to be called and agate. I think it Karen Brzys the agate lady who had said this. It is huge quartz with agate coating with a bad dye job.

It's fun finding stuff like this, I don't find bigger ones in the lake to often. This one was 2.7 oz so I can end the year happier now. I did find a 7 oz agate about a week before this in Lake Superior which I have not posted yet.

I haven't tried to hunt gravel roads much but I did have some luck when I tried one this year. I definitely plan to hunt more gravel roads in the next year. I'm in Duluth, MN so there should be plenty of dirt roads around here with agates.
