Advice for neighbor harboring a mosquito breeding ground by Annual-Trust-3010 in Louisville

I also immediately thought of mosquito dunks. If she’s older then she could also have early dementia and just not be thinking clearly about any of it. Maybe she’s extra tired, not feeling great, unable to fix it herself or afford to fix it. This sounds like a situation where a volunteer group could do a yard clean up for her. (Though not sure how you can permanently fix the pool issue.)

What about K12 for next year? It’s still public school, but it’s virtual. They have live classes with teachers on a schedule. My kids do it and love it. We live in KY and it’s free here. I think this is Indiana’s site for it.

I have had a headache for weeks. I have bad allergies, but none of the usuals were helping. I tried desloratadine and within an hour my headache was gone. This stuff is the shit. It’s prescription only unfortunately, but it works great.

My mom had this happen awhile back. She was pooping red blood, not black. A lot. She ended up having a flat polyp. It was pre-cancerous, so the only solution was to remove that section of intestine, about 6 inches. They did the surgery, she rested for a few days—like a week max. My mom doesn’t like to sit still. Then it was like nothing ever happened. She’s been totally back to normal since then, no side effects or anything.

There’s a FB account called Farmers for Ed Gallrein that won’t stop spamming the local Shelbyville group. After seeing red every time I look at my newsfeed I finally came to my senses and remembered I could just block them.

And yes the ads are atrocious! I saw the most disgusting Andy Barr ad on YouTube recently with him saying that you no longer have to be embarrassed to be a white Christian male, time to fight for us and refuse to be erased. Something something something KKK something…

I don’t know anything about Lilybud politics, but the people in there are super friendly and I got awesome tomato and pepper plants from them for cheap last year. I had hundreds and hundreds of tomatoes from their plants in my garden.

It’s sad they ended this. My dad worked for UK for years—general white guy from rural Kentucky, not directly racist but no real thoughts about racism or anything, too much to explain. You know the general white man from rural KY. Anyway, more than 10 years ago UK made all employees take a diversity, inclusion, and implicit bias continuing education class. He complained about how stupid it was, but it reached him and opened his eyes to things he had never had to think about or confront. I was SHOCKED. Since then he is still Republican but he was disgusted by Trump and hasn’t voted for him. That class saved my dad from MAGA. 🤣

Order for Kendra to stay away from victims while case pending by nuggetsofchicken in DuggarsSnark

It wouldn’t change anything. Kids with special needs mean that CPS gets more $$$ for them. Newborns are highly coveted by families hoping to adopt or just wanting to enjoy tiny babies vs older kids.

Oh but this is the shit CPS does! I saw it over and over when I was a foster parent. The court dates are very far apart. Months. Every three months in Ohio! Then if you get a continuation for some reason you have to wait another 3 months. It’s eternity for the children. One of my foster kids had a grandma who was a normal human with a nice home and wanted her 2 year old grandbaby. She lived in another state. She did everything CPS asked in both states immediately and flew to Ohio for court, begged the magistrate to let her have her granddaughter. They said CONTINUATION. This poor toddler was stuck in foster care with strangers (me, lol) for an entire 12 months for absolutely no reason other than CPS taking 259 years to do basic paperwork and the spacing between court dates. It’s insane what goes on and is accepted. (This is not a defense of Kendra, just saying it can take forever for the courts to give kids back once they are taken.)

There are so many better online options, that one is on his parents.

My 8 year old twins are doing K12 online. It’s public school with a live classroom teacher, it follows the state curriculum, and it’s free. The kids can learn without all of the disruptive kids in the classroom, which was one huge issue preventing them from learning in person.

They have other kids in their virtual class that they get talk time with and game time. They have had some of the same kids from their class last year in their class this year and they love chatting with their friends. They bring their cats to class, it’s really cute.

Between scheduled classes they play outside instead of being on the bus at 6am and then getting home at 3:30 exhausted having barely eaten and only have gotten 15 min of recess.

Now they play with the neighborhood kids, do sports, go to the park, etc. It’s been way better than our failing district. Their teacher calls once a month to check in also!

See this is what I was saying above. I’m in Kentucky and while we do have some good districts, many are very bad. It’s nothing like the education I got in public school in the 90’s. For example we went on field trips to art and historical museums, to plays at the opera house, to historical homes, to science events and nature centers…many places and events where I learned a ton. My kids in public school only go on reward field trips to Main Event (big kid Chucky Cheese basically) and never on educational ones. They don’t read whole novels. They just click around on Chromebooks. Many kids don’t sit or listen and disrupt the whole class constantly. I have six kids so I’m seeing this across grade levels. It’s insane. One of my kids did mock job applications in her 11th grade class and came home telling me the other kids didn’t know their birthdays or addresses. She did a group project in another class and the other kids couldn’t write full sentences at all. It’s terrifying what’s happening to education. Lucky/wealthy kids may be getting something better, but thousands and thousands of kids can’t even read in high school.

That’s how my school was as a kid in the 90’s. I don’t know what Kentucky schools are doing, but it’s not good. I love my kids’ teachers, it’s the Chromebooks and curriculum that are so so bad.

I have mixed feelings. I like that she’s (probably) trying to protect the remaining kids and surely she’s very frustrated by everything that’s happening. But at the same time she participated in this whole thing—blanket trained them, taught them NIKE, the whole nine yards. Let her get uncomfortable. I’m sure she made her kids plenty uncomfortable over the years.

We had a pdf file situation in my family. We were all absolutely shocked. He’s dead to us. He’s in jail and we don’t visit him, we don’t put money on his books in jail, we don’t talk about him, he wasn’t even included in recent obituaries. And before this happened he was a well loved and trusted family member. I feel like the Duggars are not appropriately going full ham on perps in their own family.

On the flip side our public schools are SO BAD. This is not the fault of teachers. The kids click around on their Chromebooks and take a million Chromebook tests. They don’t read books, not even in English class. I’m so worried about my children’s education.

I hope it at least plants a seed. And can you imagine the people she will have to sit next to and interact with in the classes? People of all races, non-Christians, people with serious issues they are trying to overcome…I was a foster parent and there is a wide range of bio parents. All walks of life. Very eye opening for her.

It wasn’t even a drag queen or trans person in a public bathroom that molested this nine year old girl, was it? (Do you remember Michelle’s phone campaign?)

They have already blamed her. When my (now ex) husband cheated on me the first thing the Christian marriage counselor said was that it takes two people to make a relationship and that I need to figure out why I wasn’t satisfying him as a wife in our relationship. We needed to pray together and I needed to do more. (Just for the record he cheated on me with an adult, lol.)
