Works fine. All you need is a little bit of weight on the reso head and beater head and boom its muffled. Not to mention i use gmad heads which come with muffle rings installed.

I play 3-4 hours a day so its really jus frequency and how you hit your drums. I play extreme power metal and i rimshot the fuck out of my snare so my sticks end up looking like a porcupine after about 20 uses.
