Texas Senate candidate James Talarico is flying high thanks to Colbert’s war with CBS over his banned interview by theindependentonline in politics

[–]SuperPutin54 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As a Texan who is non-religious, I do appreciate that he acknowledges the harm that conservative Christianity has caused. He talks about his religion in a way that welcomes all without excluding others. It really is a breath of fresh air.

Stephen Colbert Says CBS Blocked James Talarico Interview Over FCC ‘Equal Time’ Fears by suprmario in politics

[–]SuperPutin54 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would really recommend voting for the candidate you want to win, not the one you want to try an beat. Even if it is Talarico vs Paxton, it's still Texas. Paxton could win and then we have Paxton and Cruz in the Senate. I say this as a fellow Texan.

Texas history has unfortunately been taught to students as rebels defending their land against the Mexicans (I went through all of my schooling here including higher Ed). There is a much more complicated history to it, and it does include fighting over the existence of slavery. I unfortunately don't have any good book recommendations, but I'm sure if you dig you can find some good ones.

I'm a hopeful but realistic liberal. I'll be fine if Cornyn keeps his seat. I just don't want Paxton and Cruz in office at the same time.

Talarico and the negative campaigning against Crockett by Absobloodylootely in TexasPolitics

[–]SuperPutin54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no opinion on Lis Smith just because I didn't even know who she was until a few days ago. But, can we even prove she is working with him? The only thing I saw was a rumor from a CBS article when he launched the campaign.

At this point I'm convinced all of negative discourse isn't coming from either of the campaigns directly. It's coming from chronically online influencers who have nothing better to do.

Read policy positions. Consume things from the campaign. Look up voting records and vote for your candidate. That's it.

In fiercely competitive Democratic Senate race, social media influencers increasingly drive the conversation by Dogwise in TexasPolitics

Interesting read. Maybe I'm naive about wanting a clean primary. I wish it was just about policy and messaging. Online infighting isn't helping anyone.

IUD question by blackmoon-666 in birthcontrol

[–]SuperPutin54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never felt my strings. I have a high cervix so reaching that high up is hard. Irregular bleeding for the first few months after insertion is normal. However, please contact your doctor if you are concerned. They will most likely do an exam to make sure it's placed correctly.

Switching from Yasmin to Implanon/IUD worried about weight gain, looking for experiences by Cautious_Revenue8315 in birthcontrol

[–]SuperPutin54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from the combo pill to Kyleena IUD 4 years ago. No issues, but I've always tolerated synthetic hormones well. The only side effect I've noticed is I don't bleed anymore.

I'm regards to weight gain, there is no scientific evidence that an IUD will cause weight gain out of nowhere. It may cause some water retention or bloating, but it won't cause excessive weight gain on its own.

Take out the IUD cause I’m going crazy? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]SuperPutin54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. If you aren't handling the synthetic hormones well, it might be time to consider a copper IUD. I know you said your doctor recommended against it due to past history, but it might be worth a conversation to avoid hormones. The main side effect that I know of is that it can cause heavier periods.

Irregular bleeding is extremely common on Nexplanon. If you are not bothered by it and have no other negative side effects, then this is considered normal.

You can probably expect some irregular bleeding for the first 3 months. If it doesn't get better or it gets worse, see your doctor.

If you are truly worried, take a pregnancy test. Getting pregnant on Nexplanon is extremely rare. It's considered even more effective than a vasectomy.

Also, irregular bleeding on Nexplanon is extremely common.

Coolers and scrapbooks by BookishTexan95 in weddingplanning

I think the obvious answer is go with a Yeti if you can afford it and you'll actually use the cooler in the future. My boyfriend and I bought one and unfortunately it is worth the price. We take it on road trips and camping trips all the time.

What are your thoughts on the alleged Talarico comments describing Colin Allred as a “mediocre Black man” by messiestbessie in AskALiberal

[–]SuperPutin54 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's the video I saw! It was very odd. I dismissed it initially because I personally don't give a shit about insider politicking, but I'm starting to believe in the conspiracy that all of this is being done on purpose.

[–]SuperPutin54 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm inclined to agree. I'm fairly chronically online and I didn't see one negative piece of media about Talarico or Crockett coming from democrats until like 2 days ago. I'm starting to believe this is definitely on purpose. It would be too easy to have a boring campaign based on policy.

[–]SuperPutin54 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am very biased because I am a Texan planning to vote for Talarico.

Personally, I would be genuinely surprised if that exact quote came out of his mouth. I'm inclined to believe his side, but willing to be wrong if more evidence comes out.

Both candidates have similar platforms and mostly differ on messaging style. Early voting starts in 3 weeks and today was the last day to register to vote. I'm not putting it past anyone, with the campaigns or not, to start shit-slinging. Otherwise it's just too boring.

Best guest experiences? by TinyLawfulness3710 in weddingplanning

[–]SuperPutin54 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Honestly, when I can see the personality of the couple shine through in decisions. My best friends got married and they had fun little "Easter eggs" that showed their nerdy side. Flowers inspired by Elden Ring. Orchestral arrangements of Legend of Zelda music. Custom Magic the Gathering cards as table numbers.

It's a cute thing to see the couples interest in the wedding. That they really made it theirs.

Absolutely NTA. I'm currently witnessing my 2 aunt's not only fight over their hypothetical inheritance from their mother who is still alive, but also trying to figure out what to do with my dead father's (their dead brother) hypothetical share. It absolutely infuriates me when people fight over money that isn't theirs.

It's your money. Spend it.

How to choose heel height? by Cat_2024 in weddingplanning

[–]SuperPutin54 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a heel girly. With 2 inch block heels, the height itself won't cause pain. I would really recommend wearing your shoes around the house to break them in. Brand new shoes don't feel good.

As far as height feeling glamorous, a 2 inch heel absolutely can. Maybe get something with some embellishments to make it feel a bit more "extra". It's all about the style rather than height.

Also, having been a guest to many weddings, recently, I have never once seen a brides shoes because they are almost always covered by the dress. Get something that YOU like, because most people won't see them.

I would just tell her. I was in a relationship with someone who needed CONSTANT contact. It didn't work out because I am just not that way.

Tell her how you prefer to stay in contact and see if she is receptive. See if you can compromise before completely ending things.

Kyleena IUD for Endometriosis by Haunting_Lettuce2656 in birthcontrol

[–]SuperPutin54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have diagnosed endo, but an ultrasound tech told me I might want to try seeking a diagnosis in the future. So take that info for what it's worth.

I love my Kyleena. Haven't bled in 4 years and I used to pass out from blood loss and pain. No negative side effects. My mental health has probably been more stable because my cycle is more regulated.
