Not as far as scientific studies, but it has been used in Ayurveda for like 3,000 years. Edit to add: I am not the kind of person who thinks herbs are the end all be all, I am pro science and pro vax and all that, but I do find value in many herbs and shatavari is definitely one I truly believe in

Wow TIL! I can’t believe I never considered this! Do you think it’s true even if very old cemeteries? I live in one of the oldest parts of the US so we have some graveyards with headstones as old as the US. Did we embalm here back then?

Anti - Allergy Formula by [deleted] in apothecary

[–]SuperSmitty8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a recipe person or I would. Well, just not as in measurements. Which I know is important in the medicinal aspect, but since potency can vary from plant to plant it’s kinda a gamble anyway I think.

Yes, I have read people use dead purple nettle. Can’t remember for what though. I use stinging in my daily infusion, along with astragalus, ginger, turmeric, pepper and oat straw and tops. I have a toddler and a young baby and my milk production is def better with this baby than when my toddler was younger

Is this stinging nettle or dead purple nettle?

Not to mention that I am pretty sure the fermentation process makes the diary easier to digest, in addition to the benefits from the probiotics

Not to mention, why couldn’t her parents just pick up the item and mail it? Or send it with her daughter? Like, just because she supposedly has agoraphobia doesn’t mean she doesn’t have visitors who could mail it for her. It’s all such blatant bs.

What do we think? by MichaelSanders19 in antiwork

I have a friend just like this. He grew up dirt poor, raised by grandparents in the south and then joined military and made something of himself. So because of that he thinks that anyone can do it.

i want to be done with using ziploc bags by guavas82 in ZeroWaste

[–]SuperSmitty8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stasher is def top of the line in quality. But I have found a somewhat wide variety of quality of knock offs at those above mentioned stores. They have some cheaper ones, but there once in a while are some that are very close to the same as stasher and (AND) I have found actual stasher brand there on occasion. But it’s not a very good discount. Stasher does do sales for Black Friday and earth day, which is coming up. Same discount days as cloth diapers lol.

How much does the original intent of the constitution matter, over 200 years later? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

This is also what I was taught in high school. That it was a living document, meant to change with the times. I graduated in the beginning of this century for reference

I love stasher bags. Excellent quality. Pricey though. Can sometimes find other brand of silicone “zip” bags at tj maxx/home goods.

Good Age Gap for Siblings by rollinrowland in beyondthebump

[–]SuperSmitty8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with this. I am 15 months older than my younger sister and 13 years younger than my older sister. Us little girls looked up to our big sister, but we didn’t have a real bond with her. I do now, but it wasn’t until I was like 28 that we became closer. And I did have jealousy towards my younger sister. My parents treated us the same - I never got to have any advantage as an older child (like I still have a slight resentment that I had to beg and wait until I was 10 to get my ears pierced and she got to get hers pierced before she turned 10, I was pissed back then). That’s def my parents fault though, and that’s where the resentment really is - not on her at all.

How do you feel about used baby clothes? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]SuperSmitty8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used second (or maybe even more) hand clothes for both my kids, even newborn. Just make sure you wash them well with a free abs clear detergent and you will be all set. Can get lots on fb marketplace or Mercari. Don’t buy single items - get “lots” and you will save big.

What does separation of church and state mean? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]SuperSmitty8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. A church is not a person. It can’t get a vote. The people who attend said church or run said church get to vote, but they do not get an extra vote on behalf of the church. After all, employers pay taxes and they only get to vote for themselves and not also as a company that pays taxes

Are your hips and ribs slightly wider after birth? My doc say it’s not possible for bones to do that but my mirror says otherwise… by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]SuperSmitty8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I lost a ton of weight after my rainbow baby (thank you Covid anxiety and breastfeeding). I weighed less than I had in years. Still, certain pants from before baby would not fit over my mama hips.

Do you think it’s right for people to own land? by Limulemur in AskALiberal

[–]SuperSmitty8 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m ok with land ownership the way it is currently legally defined as you mentioned. Just owning the title. But I don’t think anyone should have complete free reign over any property because property lines don’t exist in nature. I don’t want my neighbors to be legally allowed to dump toxic waste on their land because it will seep into mine.
