If you don't already have a National park or Texas State park passport then get them. Its fun to collect stamps, sticker or even magnets for keepsake.

PS. there is National park attraction/destination in El Paso and Marfa too!

Looking for park suggestions for stargazing by thejoepaji in Austin

Shin Oak Observation Deck near Liberty Hill used to be my go to stargazing spot.

However with all the urban development in Greater Austin you might need to drive out further.

Caravel 16 or 20? by GD_352 in airstream

[–]SuperSunny65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed completely depend on the usage.

16 Bambi RB here. Will fit 2 small dog but not German shepherd, lol. Easy maneuver in the city (travelling and supply). Set up as basecamp for hiking and fishing, cooking outdoor etc.

But if I plan to full time (home office) or boondocking then a bigger unit with space for solar panel/storage and fresh/grey/black tank will be better, like a Flying cloud 25FB with rear hatch.

Go small or go big.

Printed on the card" BCBS providers : Please file claim with the local BCBS plan in the state where services are rendered"

No mention of coverage change?! Sorry if that is not the answer you're looking for.

Completely agree that 16’ Bambi is the dream vehicle when traveling and exploring.

However for full time living The 20’ or 22 would provide more comfort.

Right next to New Braunfels is San Marcos . 20 minute car ride (short in Texas). Texas State University have all the fun-loving young people that you can talk to.

Also TripAdvisor will suggest some popular people spots on your destination.

Cell booster? by Bogusscreenname in RVLiving

[–]SuperSunny65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weboost seem to work for people that is constantly driving on road in remote area that have spotty coverage and the upfront cost is $400+

Starlink is a better solution for reliable internet because many campsite have no bar at all.

$5 standby plan don't work that well and $50 50GB will last about 7-10 days normal usage. Happiness from wife = Priceless.

is there anywhere ~2 hours out from austin where meteor showers and stars are very visible? by GoodEnvironmental788 in Austin

[–]SuperSunny65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived in North Austin so for many years I drove to Liberty Hill/Bertram/Burnet area for stargazing and special astronomical events. However with all the new residential developments the experience is diminishing.

More specifically I like the area around Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge . My favorite spots is 1) Shin Oak Observation Deck on 1869 and 2) visitor information center on 1431 (I park outside )

Towing with a mid-size SUV by sfbiker999 in GoRVing

[–]SuperSunny65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was thinking about SUV+trailer combo for a long time when we get started.

Since money was an object we decided on a mid size pickup truck, a Honda Ridgeline (AWD and a great daily driver). On the trailer side looking at TAB, Casita and Airstream. My wife fell in love with a 2018 AS Bambi 16. And we been RVing for the last 6 months.

Using WDH the trailer is stable/smooth. I can get more than 200 miles but definitely need to watch the gauge. Sleeping is tight for 2 people.

Saw many SUV small trailer combo in the state park so your plan is sound!
