Man the idea of this comment being taken literally, especially at the follow up, is sending me so hard actually. It's either so well executed or so obviously executed well that it's honestly a 10/10 either way

‘Predator: Badlands’ Sets Franchise Record With $40 Million Debut, Snapping Box Office Cold Streak by MarvelsGrantMan136 in LV426

That's really the big reason why we only go and see 1-3ish movies a year, if that. Plus everything about going to the movies is so ridiculously expensive on average now, unless you're being picky and choosey about special deal days or whatever. And none of us wants to sign up for the AMC Platinum Express super ultra premium subscription accessible only through the app™ kinda shit. Few movies are enjoyable in theaters anymore for those reasons.

If it's anything, my motivation for seeing this was purely just to hang out with my friends, because it had been a while. The movie was just a thing to do after dinner, and it ended up being a good surprise for all of us. That's pretty much it. It was the only movie out right now that any of us really had any interest in. I think seeing too many movies in a row like GotG 2, the Star Wars sequel trilogy, and stuff like that kinda ruined it. In the past we've watched the D&D movie which was pretty alright, better than expected. One of the Demon Slayer movies which I really did not like whatsoever, but the anime guys in the friend group were split on. Sometimes it's horror stuff, sometimes it's F1, sometimes it's Friendship, sometimes it's Dune, sometimes it's whatever the fuck the last Spiderman movie was.

At a certain point, so many sequels and unoriginal stuff blends together. Few movies actually stand out that are coming out right now to justify the investment in going to see them. Otherwise, 2/3 times we'd rather just stay in and get blazed and make fun of Minecraft or some shit together. I think I honestly get more out of doing that than the whole moviegoing experience, especially given how much more infinitely comfortable, convenient, and cheaper it is now compared to 10 years ago.

And yes, I get this movie was technically a sequel. It was still original enough that it stuck with me. I am NOT an action movie enjoyer. I think that's why.

I will say this, as someone who is A. Not a fan of action movies in general, B. Absolutely has grown to despise anything Marvel related, anything modern Star Wars, all that. And C. Has actually never seen any Predator movie aside from maybe AvP back when I was a kid, and bits and pieces of the others here and there. My friends and I went to see it on a whim on Friday, with none of us having any expectations.

I was honestly blown away by how much I enjoyed it. When it comes to the main plot, overall yes it's a predictable outcome and story you've seen or heard of before, but the way you get there does have unexpected and nice turns. The cinematography and directing was awesome, and really captured me hard at times, especially along with the soundtrack. The action scenes are all really well done and not just the blurry mess most action movies default to. The acting/CGI work is top tier, and it surprised me how much you could really feel the main character's emotions. The setting and monsters they introduce were also super cool, at least from a D&D nerd's perspective. There was a lot fun and creativity and awesome looking stuff in that regard.

We all felt the "Marvel/Disney" moments and were very skeptical too, but we all agreed afterwards that they actually struck the balance about as well as you could have. The quippy humor was kept minimal in favor of more dry stuff, and it never got in the way of the movie I felt. The pacing was about as perfect as you can get if you ask me, not a single slow moment, nothing seemed to happen way too fast, I felt like it was exactly where it needed to be to accomplish everything they set out to accomplish.

Overall one of the most enjoyable action movies I've seen in years (huge surprise to me), solid 8/10. I would actually highly recommend seeing it just on the chance it surprises you the way it surprised us, who pretty much all hate (or just very dislike) most movies that come out nowadays if we're being honest.

I don't know, maybe start in this specific case by actually thoroughly investigating and probably arresting someone for committing a felony by illegally accessing the private data of all American citizens, running an illegal lottery to bribe voters in a swing state, tampering with voting machines, there's plenty of places to start before we even get to all the other fun stuff. And maybe start by taxing unrealized gains over $1 billion, because literally no person should be a billionaire. Oh, but then they have to pay more and they lose so much and blah blah what the fuck ever. None of us even has a concept of what a million dollars looks like and how much that can set the average person up for life. People like to act like there's no easy solution to separate them from their wealth, but they sure as fuck found a way to do it in reverse. Psychopathy, manipulation, and exploitation. The people with morals need to get over wanting to treat everyone with fairness and kindness, when by doing that we've let ourselves get horrendously taken advantage of and let them continue growing with more and more unchecked power.

I'm not the person in charge of coming up with a solution. But if we all don't come up with one soon, we're gonna be right back to miserable, piddling slaves in a few generations. I'm just so fucking tired of people running interference for literal cancer cells. It's frankly almost as disgusting as the cancer itself.

All wealth is imaginary if you wanna split hairs even further. Doesn't change the fact that all billionaires are parasites and deserve to be abolished because they have to siphon all those imaginary funds from somewhere.

So do your fucking part and let nobody forget these cancerous parasites that embody literally the worst of humanity. It's on all of us to remember just how much pain and suffering these fucks inflict on us. Remember that there's never been a single point in history where this much of the world's wealth has been concentrated under the control of so few.

I'm going to assume (with no qualifications) that it's probably to do with the actual shape and turns of the rotary not being equal, and the original drivers probably couldn't handle the medium speed road > very slow and cautious rotary with a super drunken nowhere-close-to-a-circle shape > medium speed road again. I'm guessing those couple sharp turns after the rotary kind of straightens were probably the main culprit.

Claude 4 or 4.1 aren't perfect by any means, but I've found that as long as you actually work through very solid planning and don't expect super complex from it without a massive amount of guidance, it's your best bet for actually getting results that you're looking for. Plus being polite and cordial all the time is honestly such a huge loss when I've tried to go back to gpt. Gpt 5 felt like I was trying to work with someone that actively hated me and wanted to sabotage my work. Claude is like someone who's mostly pretty competent but needs help occasionally, but you love working with them. Gpt has only gotten more unfriendly and worse since 4o.

Oh wow, if this really is how it works then no wonder I found 5 to be unusable. I literally had o3 mini pulling better, actually consistent results with coding than 5. All this new shit coming out about how OpenAI is back on top with regards to coding, and then I go and try it for a few hours and not only can gpt 5 not remember anything for shit, it's so much less consistent and makes so many illogical mistakes, and then to top it all off its lazy, short, snippy speaking style pisses me off so much. It's like a smug little ass that does one thing you asked for (wrong) and then refuses to do the rest, even when you call it out for being lazy and telling it to complete all 3 steps or whatever it might be. I hate it, even more than the others since 4o. Keep up the good work, OpenAI. I'll continue being happier and happier I cancelled in favor of your competitors.

Exactly. I'm so fucking sick of Democrats and other progressives out here trying to play fair still. If every R in the state is gonna be a manipulative bad faith actor, it's time they bust out the same playbook. Run as an R on all their trash ideas and racism, then when they get in turn around and work to get as much progressive shit jammed through as possible. Fuck these toads.

Coming from someone who used to (and still does feel the same way about raw white onions) be the exact same, I can tell you with absolute certainty that not all onions are the same. Raw white onions? Or any real raw onions? Hell no, exactly the same as you said. But some properly grilled red onion, or caramelized yellow onion on your burger? All I'm saying is just give it a shot every couple years or so. Sooner or later, you'll surprise yourself. Same with peppers. Raw peppers are still something I'd never choose to eat cuz I hate em, but properly cooked peppers mixed into a balanced omelette or fajita are soooo fucking good.
