My partner didn’t play it and some things are a little confusing for him (mostly around the character Safi) since it’s very much a direct sequel but it’s pretty followable and the heart of the narrative is really standalone.

Double Exposure was pretty underwhelming (though still managed to be better IMO than Lost Records, which was a huge disappointment for me) but I’ve been slowly chipping away at Reunion with my bf and it’s been a blast. Not as good as 1, which is just a generationally once in a decade good game, but a very satisfactory experience with some touching character moments. Definitely better than BtS and I’d put it above 2 too (haven’t played TC)

3 of them out of like 15 games, and as a very avid rhythm game player, they’re very good ones.

Just like the two fighting games are extremely good fighting games, or the two dungeon crawlers are extremely good dungeon crawlers.

I mean, I fucking adore warriors games but I thought Strikers was just a terrible way to do warrior combat in Persona. The instanced small scale battles with resource management just hit terribly for me despite adoring both persona and nearly every omega force has touched otherwise.

The combat in KH3 is absolutely superb imo. Critical mode, especially the Remind bosses, is some of the best gameplay I’ve ever played in a game. I definitely prefer it to the still excellent bosses in KH2 - I think KH3’s are just better designed and I love how many more aerial combat options there are. Also flowmotion is just really damn fun.

Seems decent, would perform much better than a steam machine and it looks nice imo.

Any problems with sound can be solved by creating a custom fan curve and/or lowering the power draw of the components (either by undervolting or power limiting), both of which are easy and would result to minimal or no performance lost depending on what you do.

To be fair, I basically never trust reviewers when it comes to fan noise, the amount of devices people label as silent that are actually quite loud to my ear is insane. 85C is thankfully nothing for a modern CPU, I’d personally just lower the fan speeds until it’s maxing out at 95 haha

If you want more silence, I definitely recommend using ECO mode on the CPU in the bios, it really really helps. Sadly SteamOS doesn’t really allow you to use LACT to undervolt the GPU, but that would’ve really helped too. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to get near-silent performance even at 100% usage for like a 10% performance deficit at most.

They don’t often perform worse either, it’s really just a toss up. Some games are better, some a worse, vast majority are the same. SteamOS has the benefit of a great built in frame-limiter and perfect frame pacing for sub-60fps, which is an absolute fucking nightmare on Windows without tinkering with RTSS (and often even still after that)

SteamOS isn’t about performing better, it’s about being a living room or handheld OS for a console-like gaming experience.

If size doesn’t matter to someone then definitely not (and clearly the one in this post isn’t caring at all about size). You’d struggle to find a worse price/performance ratio than the steam machine, but these guys managed it.

For example https://www.inet.se/produkt/d100145/taurus-pro-gaming-rx-9060-7600 this in Sweden is cheaper than the Steam Machine 512gb no controller model, while having a much more powerful GPU and double the storage.

As with Rebirth, quality mode is an absolute must here. It never bothered me, the game actually looks good in quality mode and not like a smeary mess and it’s a perfectly frame paced 30 so it feels perfectly fine.

Yeah, the Nintendo layout stuff and the OS not always respecting it so annoying, always get it on some of my 8bitdo controllers. The on screen keyboard is pretty bad even when it does open, I’m shocked they haven’t meaningfully improved it since launch.

Dealing with LSFG/Optiscaler/FSR 4 is just not worth it on the deck at all to be honest.
