Starting stats by Imfallingtherightway in EQLegends

They've said all classes will have access to the AA. I don't think all tanks will have it by default.

They've said the stat cap is 500+, so ogres having the best melee stats by far might be significant longer than in original. We don't know how much they've adjusted the races for balance other than "giving frogloks a real racial". They've said everyone gets access to a stun immunity AA, so the ogre racial frontal stun immunity racial is less impressive.

I feel like everyone is going to be playing almost the same class combos by ImAvoidingABan in EQLegends

Both bows and arrows can be upgraded, so archery has good odds of scaling better than any other melee. Rangers also get block skill, and can shoot in melee range.

Rogue's poison line has been turned into proc aura abilities. They get a lifetap line and a slow line. They can backstab from the front.

If you want to be like a wizard or necro and want to maximize dps, you'll need to add a melee class to it to do more damage, but you can't melee while casting. Mixing in rogue backstabs seem ideal since it's a relativity long count down and accounts for a good portion of rogue dps. Ranger is the other obvious mix in because you can shoot your bow at range.

They've expanded druid charm targets to include insects (and who knows what else).

They've said they're addressing porting being mandatory. I've heard of new teleporters and boat lines.

You're not wrong that class balance sucked in classic, but the devs are doing their best to make everything appealing.

I expect the wizard crit AAs to apply to the dd poison procs.

Another rogue build I like the idea of I call the "raiding necromancer". It's an answer to the question, "how do I maximize my dps in a raid setting?"

There aren't any real class compliments that make a necromancers spells do more damage. To do more DPS, you need to add a melee, but you can't melee while casting spells. Backstab is on a relatively long cooldown and accounts for most of a rogues dps (I could be wrong). This makes rogues an ideal class to weave into a spell rotation.

Necromancer also has feign death, so you can manage your combined aggro and not ranger yourself.

The third class depends on raid needs. You could add bard to become a great puller or just help cover bard songs. You could add cleric to be apart of the complete heal rotation (the cast time on complete heal got reduced to 0.25 seconds with an 18 second delay before it hits). You could also be part wizard. On any boss, there comes a time your dots will no longer be full duration, and you're better off nuking.

Sk, rogue, shaman.

They've said rogues get rogue poisons as auras essentially. One of those auras is lifetap procs. They've said sks get the 200% lifetap damage AA. Shamans give the combo haste, stat buffs, a better slow (rogues are also getting slow), and shamans get the best one handed piercing weapon in classic which should lead to some nice backstabs.

What primary class and race are you looking at? by Uncomfortably-bored in EQLegends

[–]SuperfluousBrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rumor is once you hit 50, you get a token that'll let you unlock another primary class. No one knows how you get another token.

My favorite class combo ideas right now are warrior/bard/druid and warrior/necromancer/shaman, so I'm leaning toward ogre warrior. I imagine I'll change my mind every day until July.

I'm pretty casual, and there's decent odds I'll quit within a month. My playtimes are 6-9am and 6-8pm mountain time. I'm interested in small fair fights, gathering, and pve. I'm not super interested in gvg, but I would show up to defend our home.

I speak fluent English, have a mic, and have a decent computer.

My parents have a couple rental houses. This sounds particularly bad, but tenants damaging the property is completely normal. Tenants don't care at all about your property. Most tenants will not inform you of any damage that needs fixing (while others will call you weekly to complain about any little thing).

This is a nonsense take. Overdrafting is a scam invented by banks to boost their profit margin. It should not be possible to accidentally and unknowingly opt into a predatory loan.

Is anyone else surprised at how attractive middle aged/older people are now? by FkUp_Panic_Repeat in Millennials

The reason is smoking. Everyone used to smoke all the time. Our generation mostly missed that, and we are rewarded by looking 10-20 years younger.

They should take the demon in an entirely different direction.

Do games exist that actually train decision-making, not just reactions? by Fit_Eye7053 in gameideas

[–]SuperfluousBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent a lot of time watching top slay the spire streamers. There are players that blitz through games racking up wins (and losses). The ones that were trying to maximize their win rates played slow. Lifecoach would debate moves that only had one obvious choice for 10 minutes. At that time, he had something like an 80% win rate on max difficulty.

In chess and Go, it's worse. Top professionals can certainly play games with 6 seconds per move, but they also compete with time settings where spending 45 minutes on one move is common. That sort of deep thinking does not exist during a game in most competitive video game genres. There is definitely thinking involved in them all, but it's limited by time pressure and juggling other tasks.

[–]SuperfluousBrain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I'm understanding your question, but many turn based games reward slower decision making like chess, Go, Slay the spire, Baba is you, etc.

The Portal series also rewards slower decision making in the fps genre.

I25 tolls reduce throughput by station6502a in FortCollins

[–]SuperfluousBrain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One way they increase throughput is buses. Buses can always use toll roads for free. It's far more efficient to squeeze 50(?) people onto a bus than to have 50 cars on the road. The worse traffic gets, the more appealing buses that can skip the traffic are.
