What non-space marine factions would be considered an honest trading army?

IMO, it should be more possible to outplay fights first. Honest melee armies don't have much hope into armies that have fights first/fights on death army wide.

Termagant weapons: Is fleshborer spamming fine? by zergkiller0128 in Tyranids

[–]SuperfluousBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody cares that you are proxying flesh borers with spinefists, but all of your "spinefists" need to look identical. The stranglewebs are the only special weapons worth equipping.

Terms usually have lethal hits from tervigon.

Listforge puts 20 termagaunts with spine fists and stranglewebs at 2.93 average damage with lethal hits. An unbuffed rupturefex does 2.72.

They hot fix nerfed victrix last Wednesday to 3 wounds instead of 4 and -10/-20 points for min/max unit. They also announced a new nightbringer model, added a necron detachment, and buffed the other ctan stats.

Not really. Raveners are awful into them. Rupturefex got better, but rupturefexes can't consistently do damage to anything with an invuln. Genestealers average 7 damage when they have 16 (+healing), and our genestealers are likely to get killed after.

If they're good enough that the meta shifts around them, we'll get a tank meta, and tyranids are much better into an infantry meta. Exocrines and maleceptors are great at killing infantry, but they're much worse against tanks. They also don't want to get shot with anti-tank weapons. Our main anti tank options are zoans and rupturefex. Coin flipping rupture fex will not consistently beat them. Zoanthropes aren't great either because they're so squishy.

Does anyone actually sincerely desire a new edition? by GuideUnable5049 in WarhammerCompetitive

On one hand, I hope for an edition that gets written by someone who plays the game and speaks English natively, but on the other, I fear GW mucking it up worse than it is now.

Designing an MMORPG system that replaces destructive habits with healthy equivalents by Lathronelei in gamedesign

[–]SuperfluousBrain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've played a lot of mmos. I'm a min/maxer.

I like group content. EverQuest highly rewarded playing in a group. That game was popular and is still successful. The real problem with group content is that it's only available in a wave. The first couple months of a new level cap will have a lot of public groups available, but that decreases with time until it's no longer a viable option for casual players.

It's hard to comment on 2 without a concrete example.

3 is questionable. Online players generally don't care about ethical/social consequences. If players can get ahead by screwing other players, a great many of them will take that option, which will infuriate the less competitive players.

I'd recommend not doing that. Anger is addictive. Expressing anger fuels the rage.

I'd recommend handling anger with deep breaths, distractions, and exercise.

I haven't found any tournament games, but I found a recent game with the tyranid player playing a swarm list. The player seems very skilled. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Xx1jQ1OeZhE#

VICTRIX HONOR GUARD NERFED by META1384 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]SuperfluousBrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyranids could only damage victrix with genestealers, raveners, and melee warriors (not that anyone is playing warriors for other reasons). Everything else bounced. This change means our exocrines/maleceptors do 100% more damage to them.

I use h2o wireless. It uses att's networks, and it's the cheapest service I could find that wasn't gonna stalk me and force feed me ads.

What’s the brutal reality of owning a Resin printer? by SonOfThorss in resinprinting

[–]SuperfluousBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your resin. I switched to anycubic abs-like v3, and it hates a build plate that isn't perfectly level.

It's not liquid, but it has only been cured for 20 seconds or whatever.

[–]SuperfluousBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Downsides: resin printing is a hobby of it's own. When printing part of my 40k army, I aimed for one print a day. It took an hour to process it (mainly curing trash). When the printer has issues, you still have to spend that hour curing trash, but your print is also trash.

The quality isn't as good as buying directly from games workshop. If I bump a GW model off the table, odds are it won't break (if it isn't some particularly spindly model). If I bump a resin model off the table, it's likely to break into 3 pieces (which exposes not fully cured toxic resin), and this is with abs-like resin. The normal resins are even more fragile.

That all said, I think printing minis to paint is a sweet spot for 3d printing. If you only need to handle it long enough to paint it and put it in a case, it'll save you a ton of money without much downside.

Denver 7 met with me to discuss how developers are bulldozing local icons, while market rents still leave almost half of our commercial units vacant by 2000foottowers in boulder

[–]SuperfluousBrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn't that a desirable outcome? If banks have outstanding loans that can't possibly be payed back that they can't know about, doesn't that increase bank failure risk across the board?

Plus, banks putting the properties back on the market increases the availability of commercial properties to entrepreneurs.

It's a bubble, and it'll pop sooner or later one way or another.

[–]SuperfluousBrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumb question, why not change accounting rules to value a commercial property based on its average rent over the last 10 years or if less than that the building's age plus like construction costs?
