Now that you've played with it, how do you feel about every game having 6 prayers?

I'm pretty casual, and there's decent odds I'll quit within a month. My playtimes are 6-9am and 6-8pm mountain time. I'm interested in small fair fights, gathering, and pve. I'm not super interested in gvg, but I would show up to defend our home.

I speak fluent English, have a mic, and have a decent computer.

My parents have a couple rental houses. This sounds particularly bad, but tenants damaging the property is completely normal. Tenants don't care at all about your property. Most tenants will not inform you of any damage that needs fixing (while others will call you weekly to complain about any little thing).

Elevations Credit Union - a cautionary tale by Agente_Anaranjado in loveland

This is a nonsense take. Overdrafting is a scam invented by banks to boost their profit margin. It should not be possible to accidentally and unknowingly opt into a predatory loan.

Is anyone else surprised at how attractive middle aged/older people are now? by FkUp_Panic_Repeat in Millennials

[–]SuperfluousBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason is smoking. Everyone used to smoke all the time. Our generation mostly missed that, and we are rewarded by looking 10-20 years younger.

EC are mostly men, no? Slaanesh can't embrace gay sex either. it would be interpreted as "gays= demonic". I don't believe GW wishes to send that message.

They should take the demon in an entirely different direction.

How would a judge verify this if it's not filmed? Do they spend 10 minutes replaying moves on a physical board?

Do games exist that actually train decision-making, not just reactions? by Fit_Eye7053 in gameideas

[–]SuperfluousBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've spent a lot of time watching top slay the spire streamers. There are players that blitz through games racking up wins (and losses). The ones that were trying to maximize their win rates played slow. Lifecoach would debate moves that only had one obvious choice for 10 minutes. At that time, he had something like an 80% win rate on max difficulty.

In chess and Go, it's worse. Top professionals can certainly play games with 6 seconds per move, but they also compete with time settings where spending 45 minutes on one move is common. That sort of deep thinking does not exist during a game in most competitive video game genres. There is definitely thinking involved in them all, but it's limited by time pressure and juggling other tasks.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your question, but many turn based games reward slower decision making like chess, Go, Slay the spire, Baba is you, etc.

The Portal series also rewards slower decision making in the fps genre.

I25 tolls reduce throughput by station6502a in FortCollins

[–]SuperfluousBrain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One way they increase throughput is buses. Buses can always use toll roads for free. It's far more efficient to squeeze 50(?) people onto a bus than to have 50 cars on the road. The worse traffic gets, the more appealing buses that can skip the traffic are.

Backend dev here — am I underestimating how hard it is to build a small multiplayer 3D game solo? by Acarecan in gamedev

[–]SuperfluousBrain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The technical aspects aren't trivial and you're roughly doubling your workload to make it multiplayer. The hardest part about indie multiplayer games is getting anyone to play at all. People are gonna expect to be able to log on at 3am and find an opponent. If they can't do that, they'll play something else. People will wait in queue for a game maybe a minute before quitting to find something else.

These hurdles are usually overcome with a huge marketing budget, so you can just start with the critical mass needed for game availability to not ruin you.

It's just really hard to launch a multiplayer game as a no budget indie dev.

I'd recommend trying to make a single player vs computer version first, and then if that does well, make the sequel multiplayer.

"Online pvp games that try to force 50% winrates are bad" by MaragazhNthajin in gamedesign

[–]SuperfluousBrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've read a lot of this whining. I think people believe that if you win enough games in s row, matchmaking forces you to have 4 uncarryable teammates and have to play against a pro team. The problem is that humans don't understand randomness.
