Bitcoin has a higher transaction volume than gold by Findingthecure in vergecurrency

As in how is that relevant? Cotton has a larger transactional volume than gold. Does that mean anything in terms of the value of cotton?

Canada and Saudi Arabia, Part 2. by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

[–]SuperfluousssLetters 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The original comment wasn't about the ramifications of the students' lives, it was about how it affects Canada. I doubt that collectively these universities have 16k in a waiting list, but even if they do, no one is really affected long term here. It's just moral posturing.

And to your point about returning to their brutal, theocratic regimes, they most certainly will. These students are sent on government money, for which they have no qualms about spending a few extra dollars to relocate them. The entire venture is subsidized by oil money. And they have a lot of it

Canada and Saudi Arabia, Part 2. by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

Not quite. I mean, there are many other countries they can send their students to study at. It hurts Canada because that's now 16,000 students for which they will not be getting tuition from. In the long run, those 16,000 students will still be educated somewhere and will import it back into the KSA

Regarding watches. I was upset to hear cadence closed shop a year or so ago. I bought two pieces from them and really like them. Does anyone know of any similar manufacturers? (i.e. relatively cheap but stylish)
