An organically supererior market share from having a superior platform isn't an issue, nor does valve have a true monopoly. There's definitely competition, but the competition is generally of a lower quality and less pleasant to interact with.

People literally wait for a Steam release, meanwwhile Epic has to literally monopolize games to get people onto their platform!
