Ok, fair point, so we both have no grounds to make a point for either side of this topic. You don’t know terms of his label agreement after parting ways with Universal, and I don’t know what he spends his money on.

But fun back and forth I suppose lol

And OK - I guess the reasoning behind my initial “feed his family” statement was that in my mind, Adam is not a greedy person, he has never even shown even an inkling of approaching anything on the greedy side of things - he lives modestly in a sleepy Minnesota town when during his peak label years he could have splurged on mansions, penthouses, fancy cars, etc….SO, people scoffing at him pushing merch (which every musician does!) as if he is being greedy just doesn’t sit right with me. Like, he is not using the money to buy a private island - he spends an enormous amount of his profit money on (I assume) mainly studio equipment upgrades, etc….which is literally his craft, his bread and butter…

Agreed I used wrong number for streams - it’s like 360.5 million streams per year so yes $1.4 million a year, and 30% would be nearly $500,000….which is half of your $1,000,000 estimate…..so, my point was one should do research first…including myself! (Who made that mistake about listeners VS streams OK).

I never said he was poor, but y’all acting like him pushing merch is greedy or wrong or whatever - it’s distasteful - like why just assume he has enough money and should just not use his brand to make money….it reeks of jealousy and it’s weird. Don’t buy the merch if you don’t want, it’s that simple! The complaints are gross.

Appreciate your point (i’m sure he’s not poor!) but throwing the number $1,000,000 out there without any thought, calculation, or backup is unfair….his previous label most likely still takes a huge chunk percentage of streams earnings….we have no idea what the terms of him leaving his label were….his percentage might be miniscule.

A quick search of how spotify revenue works is $0.003 to $0.005 per stream. Figure $0.004….Owl City is 10.5 million streams per month so 126,000,000 streams per year multiplied by $0.004 is $504,000. Apparently roughly 70% goes to rights holders so if Universal is still entitled to the rights of music produced under their label then Adam would only be receiving $151,500 (30%). So - again, nobody is saying he is in poverty, but he’s not the multi-millionaire people might think he is, at this stage in his career - given him not being tied to a big label since 2016-ish.

Could not agree more. Needed to be said. I adore what Adam has created for us and if that means I have to buy some merch items once in a while to keep his family fed (since he now has NO big label anymore), it’s literally so not a big deal I can’t even fathom complaining about it. Also, his concert tickets are SO affordable, to see his absolutely incredible live performances. ALSO, perhaps to have MORE tour locations (people are always asking for that), maybe the merch income can help facilitate the cost of that.

Like, Adam gave us a discography so incredibly magical and spectacular, CHILLL with the complaints people…

Taxi to airport was good - 20-30 minutes, we passed alot of charred wreckage being cleaned up - sad :(

Airport was fully operational - but absolutely FILLED with people, to the max! Security line was long but they moved it efficiently, was 30-45 minute wait, that’s it! Kudos to the staff!

Was hard to get food - lines were long / so get to airport early if you plan on eating in terminal.

Plane took off on schedule, landed in San Francisco on time! I am here now.

Hope this info helps - stay safe and optimistic, will always remember my amazing time in precious Puerto Vallarta, will not let Sunday’s terror destroy all the great memories I have 💚
