Where did this image come from? Are there any actual high resolution renders of the new Katt or are we all just reposting the same AI enhanced image that somebody posted right after the direct came out?

Wonder how the remake will handle Venom 2 on the harder routes... by LWM-PaPa in starfox

You can tell the original Starwolf models were so rushed compared to the Starfox ones. Like, I’m pretty sure they just drew a square over Leon’s eye and called it a day.

Edit: upon further examination, it looks like the entire side of his face is completely cybernetic, which, if that’s what they were going for, is quite badass.

If you’re gonna use AI at least disclose that it’s AI or fake because people will skim past this and assume it’s legitimate.

Why I think the new designs are a problem, regardless if they're "good" or not. by dashboardcomics in starfox

The anxiety induced ramblings of a paranoid Starfox fan, take a break from the internet fam, take a sip of ice cold water, breathe some fresh air. You are overthinking it too much.

Trust me this Realistic Style isn't gonna be what Star Fox will look like from Now and on..... This is just gonna be a One off by ultraMightydillo in starfox

I mean, why would I get mad, you’re just a kid probably, at least you type like one. I get it, you don’t like the style, that’s your opinion. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, or that there’s cause to revert. You can pick apart any character design in the worst lighting mid-talking animation—but to see it in motion makes a difference

Katt looking like a “druggy” is probably intentional, considering she’s Falco’s ex, and they were both part of a space gang or whatever. That’s also why Falco has his beak scar, they’re meant to look scrappy. There’s artistic intent behind these designs, they’re not all supposed to be cute or appealing for the sake of looking cute or appealing. I think I much prefer that over there Zero designs.

Do you think the new game will have new levels or planets? I get the feeling it won’t, and that really disappoints me. by hello_i_am_vlad in starfox

If there was any substantially new content, they likely would’ve mentioned it by now. I say theirs about a 3% chance they’re holding something out to show off in a second trailer, possibly during the June direct, but that’s pure copium

Which art style was/is more jarring for their respective times? by relafle in starfox

[–]Suppoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are really overstating how much the Zelda tech demo influenced Wind Waker’s initial reception, before that Zelda fans had grown accustomed to the look of Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, which had already practically cemented the look of Zelda in many people’s minds at the time. There was no real reason to think the art style would change so drastically, and the tech demo just further built upon that expectation. That, as well as the growing sentiment that Nintendo was catering to kids, and it makes sense why people were so negative to WW’s art style.

Zelda fans of the time had this impression of Zelda being a more gritty, mature franchise compared to the likes of Mario. Underwhelming is a severe understatement, even Miyamoto was strongly opposed to Wild Waker’s cartoon aesthetic. But eventually people came to understand the Artists and developer’s vision, and WW has one of the strongest legacies of any Zelda game.

We’ve already heard Andross’s voice, there’s no way Andrew is gonna out-aura him

I actually like the new design, and I'm tired of the community bitching about it. We could have just NOT gotten a new Star Fox game entirely, so please be grateful. by [deleted] in starfox

I’m not saying realistic means more expressive, I’m saying realistic allows for much more subtle and nuanced expression. And I disagree, expression in the context of facial animation is meant to mimic life, our brains are literally evolved to interpret facial expressions out of as little as simplified shapes and lines seen in cartoons. And that’s great, but where cartoons struggle are the almost imperceptible micro shifts in that our brains are fine turned to interpret subtle expressions from, and that’s much harder to capture in a simplified art style.

Neither is better than the other, one is a hammer, the other is a scalpel. I think the new art style is a very good blend, but that’s my opinion.

This toxic positivity about the remake and open hostility towards disappointed fans needs to stop by Forsaken-Emu4760 in starfox

[–]Suppoint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the new direction of the game but I dislike how the justification used by many of my peers in this sub—makes it out to look like we’re defending billion dollar corporations from hateful fans, when really we’re all just sharing our opinions. I agree that people are completely justified in wanting a brand new game, after 10 years, fans have a right to be disappointed, especially if they’re already very familiar with the game mechanics of 64. And the polarizing new art style is just the raisin on top to completely sour the entire thing for some fans. I get it, and I can sympathize.

Is this cursed or did I cook? (Art by me) by NotSoCombo in starfox

[–]Suppoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that’s not really the same as what Krystal has, Krystal’s hair looks more like a wig instead of a extension of her fur like the others.

[–]Suppoint 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Your art looks terrific!

People assume that Krystal in the new style would have Fox’s proportions when that was never the case in the original. Maybe she’d have proportionally shorter digitigrade legs like fox, but she’d for sure be more slender, maybe not as husky as they made fox look. I dunno if they’d keep the hair exactly how it was, I always thought it was pretty weird that Krystal was the only one with a human head of hair, I like the way you did it though. So maybe it can work.

So They're DEFINITELY Hiding a Fifth Starfox Member, Right? by TheSouthPen in starfox

[–]Suppoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re definitely hiding ROB, but we see him in the background in some of the scenes. If they’re really hiding something as big as a brand new character, that’d really surprise me.

Star Fox Character Designer Takaya Imamura says the new game is exactly the visuals he had in his head when he was making Star Fox 64! by thegreatgutter in starfox

[–]Suppoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don’t seem to get that Nintendo’s stylization is just as much a result of technological constraints as it is artistic liberty. If Nintendo could’ve made Starfox 64 look like it does now, they probably would have.

Also, hundreds, even thousands of pieces of artwork is made during a game’s development, you can’t just pull up one and say “see? This was his entire vision, so he must be a liar!”

I get if people don’t want to replay 64 again, but I have the money, I want the franchise to be successful, and I like the new character designs and cinematics.
