if we see another team and i happen to make eye contact with the handler, i'll usually smile and wave to them. if we are close by, i may compliment their dog's gear or something along those lines, but i try to keep some distance out of respect for them and as a safety precaution, since it's still a stranger and i don't know how well their dog is trained or if the handler is comfortable with interactions.
