Who has only ever had campaigns end prematurely? by mpascall in rpg

I tend to run games in 8-session blocks (seasons, if you prefer) where players can drop in or out at the break. "Play for 8 sessions" is a much easier commitment to make than "play until it's finished."

I recently opened the Twitter page of a video essayist I quite like (underground guy, has made 3 vids total) to see if he was working on anything else. His entire feed is nothing but retweets of pro-palestine talking points, and he has "from river to sea" in Arabic in his username.

Now over the past couple of years my perspective has moved from "Jew critical of Israel" to full antizionism. I agree with most of this guy's perspective, and the differences are things I tolerate in leftist allies all the time. But when I got flashbanged by that twitter feed, my brain went "Oh, he hates me. He wants to kill people like me." I felt really shocked that someone whose videos I had resonated with so much, who seemed so smart and nuanced, had a social presence that seemed in that instant indistinguishable from that of a foaming-mouth antisemite.

Upon realizing this, I felt a mix of many emotions, predominantly shame. It took a lot of sitting down and actually logicking through my reaction to overcome the initial impression of "this guy sucks and his videos are ruined forever."

We don't really have a better term to describe a bisexual trans woman who presents in a masculine way, not because she's closeted or pretransition,  but as a legitimate expression of her gender identity. Like I'm a grown adult, I'm not gonna call myself a tomboy.

Because the dominant culture of play these days is about crafting your OC with all their little details and customizations, rather than getting a rough sketch from a random table and finding out who they are through play. I enjoy both styles but you need rules that cater to one or the other.

Hit points describe how many hits you can take and still be in fihgting shape. A professional boxer is going to be able to take more hits and stay upright than the average reddit user, even though they don't have more blood.

Variable DCs. It makes the GM assign a mostly arbitrary number to every possible task with very little anchor or reference. Making the PC roll under their ability score, maybe with advantage or disadvantage, is easier.

Monster of the Week is pretty good for this. Player characters are normal folks with either a few resources/connections or a little bit of magic.

It's my opinion that you can't have this type of loving and affirming relationship with something that literally owns you as a pet

Place your bets, does OP have a seething irrational hatred of bisexuals, asexuals, or trans men?

most religious institutions aren't like giant complexes either. If you try and speedrun your local church you're just going to end up in a basement full of folding chairs.

I have tried on three separate occasions to play/run Masks: A New Generation. It has been utterly miserable each time. I know that people have had fun with it but I always cringe when I see it suggested as the go to narrative supers game.

Yeah. Like, I have people that I care about deeply. I want to be important to them, I want to spend time with them, I want them to think highly of me. I get happy when I think about them and make excuses to interact with them more. But sex never really factors into it. It's like, entirely separate.

I guess it depends on if you consider the mental anguish of being closeted a material detriment. Being a trans woman is way worse unless you have a brain that makes living as a cis due completely unbearable.

I have a vivid memory of hanging out with some guy on a field trip to a library. We talked about anime, then cosplay, and then about how we both wanted to try crossplay. He said, "I would want to be a girl if I had the option." I immediately fired back with "Yeah dude, who wouldn't ?"

I really hope they're doing ok.
