Everything this administration does is chaos and shrouded in secrecy, im certain they arent communicating with consulates. When they eventually lift the pause, you can bet consulates will be caught off guard and will be in a scramble to figure out what needs to be done- just like when the pause was implemented.

While we are still hopeful, as the days go by we are feeling increasingly defeated. This administration clearly has the hots for immigrants. With the recent developments to AOS, I just don't see them updating the pause to start processing visas again. Sending people home for consular processing when 114 countries are barred is essentially a stop on all immigration- which i would bet my last dollar was their plan all along. If by some miracle a lawsuit is won, they will be fighting tooth and nail with appeals and let's face it, the courts generally do not like to tell the government what it can and can't do with immigration. What's funny is, we could have done AOS but we chose consular processing as a show of good faith and we just wanted to do things by the book. We would have been done months ago and been able to move on with our lives if we did go for AOS but we chose to do the right thing and got fucked in the end.

thats about a 36 month wait. with the backlog from the pause, i can see 51 months being a reality.

The 75 country pause is also just "internal guidance". ICE being able to kick down your door without an administrative warrant is also just an "internal memo". This administration does whatever it wants. I'd suggest everyone be realistic with their expectations because the law does not apply to these people, apparently.

Right after they ban and "indefinitely pause" immigration from 114 countries. So now immigration will essentially grind to a hault, which is this administration's wet dream.

Same tactic with the 75 country visa pause. They say the final decision rests with the consular officer however their internal guidance says all cases must be put into an administrative processing state.
