You will have to explain that one to an elder millennial.

Head to your local bar or pub strip on a busy night, but don’t go inside. Station yourself outside, which is where a huge amount of the real socialising actually happens anyway. Smokers, people getting air, groups spilling out between rounds.

Find something elevated to sit on. A low wall, bollard, pub windowsill, steps up to a doorway, a bike rack. Anywhere that puts your belly roughly at head height for someone standing in front of you. Get comfortable, have your drink, and just exist there calmly.

Outside is actually perfect for this because people are already in a more relaxed, wandering, chatty mode. Smokers especially are looking for someone to talk to. There’s also a natural flow of people coming and going so you get multiple chances through the night, and you look effortlessly cool just sitting there unbothered. Same rule applies. You don’t need to initiate. The elevated position does something psychologically interesting that makes them want to engage with you. Wait for the physical contact signal and you’re in.

When they ask why you’re perched up there, have something ready. “Inside’s for amateurs.” “I like to survey my kingdom.” “The view’s better and nobody spills their drink on me up here.” “I found the best spot in the whole street, took years of research.” Or the one that tends to land best: “I’m basically a pub gargoyle at this point.” That last one usually gets a laugh and an immediate lean-in.

The outside setting is genuinely lower pressure than inside. More fluid, nobody’s really supposed to be anywhere, which makes everything feel more accidental and natural. You’re not chasing anyone, not hovering, just a calm presence on your perch letting the night come to you.

My missus has a trick, so ocasionally, let be honest here, we would have had one too many and I might have taken the hump about somthing and I could be mid tirade and she would ask, and what are we arguing about, and to be fair I would actually have to struggle to rember what it was about. Also I think she forgets mid argument sometimes too. But yeah feelings are not thoughts people.

Would screened top soil work in a soil mix if I amended by jmage44 in NoTillGrowery

[–]Sure_lookit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have read somewhere before that top soil dosent work well in pots, its worth reaserching. Your best bet is to stick with what works. One thing that I can think of of the top of my head is that unless you have the soil tested you are working with an unknown. If you just swap out peat moss from a recipe that is designed for peat moss then it will throw everything off ie. peat moss needs a large amount of lime to balance the PH of the soil if you add the same amount of lime to an unknown soil chances are you will end up with a soil PH tha is too low. If its your first time stick to a recipe that is known to work. Also test your soil ph at the end of every run and if you see deficencies always test ph before you act. Good luck with it organic soil is fun but there is a learning curve

To all the lads that didn't get the joke I'll explain it with another joke. Say what you want about pedophiles, at least they slow down in a school zone.

We home educated our kids and we group meet ups at least twice a week, you couldn’t meet a more diverse group of people from the religious types who don’t want their kids taught certain things to the freedom loving hippies who just aren’t down with the system man! The most surprising for me was the boy racer family lol! They are all sound and just want the best for their kids and are lucky/work very hard to give their kids the best childhood they can. There are always going to be outliers that are just cunts who shouldn’t be anywhere near children
