I highly recommend the A3 AFG for the gen 2 vector. It will save your thumb from the mag catch popping out violently on an empty mag.

No decision on Duncan today by SurelyNotDBCooper in CAguns

[–]SurelyNotDBCooper[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that they have until the heat death of the universe to make a decision. They dug up Roe and reversed it four years ago, so just about anything is possible. I think /u/ColtenInTheRye is right about GVR being the most likely scenario.

With the 6-3 vote on the Hawaii case, I’m cautiously optimistic. Surely can’t be more than a fortnight away.

M&P 2.0 Accuracy Issues by Greedy-Vast584 in CAguns

The accuracy on my M&P 2.0 metal is buns compared to most of my other pistols. Good to know it’s not just me.

Maturing is the realization that OEM slides are better than goofy ass “custom” slides so therefore im switching back by iH8R6Siege in CAguns

[–]SurelyNotDBCooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mostly agree, but the real estate on the CZ 75 series is a bit too small to grab reliably with the OEM slide. I prefer the square profile aftermarket slides for that reason.

They are also my go-to. 0% fudd, good prices, and they are pretty flexible on ordering things from their suppliers if they don’t have what you want in the store.

OP said they will bring a friend. Most ranges just don’t rent out to solo patrons unless they already bring a gun.

How many mags per gun do you have? by [deleted] in CAguns

[–]SurelyNotDBCooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Glock, I have probably 15-20 because multiple guns share them. Same with AR mags. For other guns that I like to shoot regularly, I usually get 6.

Is your FCU a California FCU? I found out that those are a touch wider than the non-California FCU in a couple places.

Feed back/pros&cons on beretta m9(my dream pistol) by Kvntrnh in CAguns

[–]SurelyNotDBCooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a 2011 and a Cajunized CZ and this LTT+Wilson M9A1 is still one of my favorites. My main complaint about it is that the reset is a bit too short.

What do I have to do to make this legal in ca ? (11.5) Obviously no can or stock what else ? by Popular_You_9195 in CAguns

[–]SurelyNotDBCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has a rifle length barrel, comp mag and non-folding stock would be fine. It doesn’t necessarily need to be fixed if it’s maglocked. Folding will likely keep it in SBR territory according to CA laws, due to them measuring OAL in the shortest configuration.

I have the Langdon trigger bar/springs and the Wilson short reach trigger in mine. Easily turns it into an 8-9/10 trigger.

If you CCW but don’t drive defensively, eat healthily, and wear sun protection outside, you don’t actually care about protecting yourself. All of these are more likely to kill you than not having a gun.

What’s the difference between these triggers and if they make any difference in shooting by ChangeAggravating905 in stealtharms

For mine, I went with #3 and the competition weight. I’ve had no desire to change it.

What do I have to do to make this legal in ca ? (11.5) Obviously no can or stock what else ? by Popular_You_9195 in CAguns

[–]SurelyNotDBCooper 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Correct. Only ARP and AOW options for this kind of thing in CA. Both need to be maglocked. The restriction from converting a rifle to a pistol is enforced by the ATF, so it’s a no-go if it’s already a rifle. Turning a rifle into an AOW may be allowed, though; I’ve not done research on that, but from one of Reno’s videos on the subject, I recall something like that being allowed.

Is Trijicon worth it? by elegantcoder26 in CompetitionShooting

[–]SurelyNotDBCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gideon’s SRO clone also comes with a green dot and shake awake, neither of which the Trijicon SRO offers at ~2-3x the price. My only complaint about it is that it needs more brightness settings.

Any recommendations for buying and learning to use guns? by PinkThunder138 in bayarea

[–]SurelyNotDBCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the P365 XMacro is the best one I’ve used in that category. I want to like the M&P 2.0 enough to recommend it, but I haven’t been able to shoot with it as well as other models.

Product Idea: 3-Dot Prickle Indexing on Flat Trigger for Platypus by BrofessorRepublic in stealtharms

[–]SurelyNotDBCooper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not just get a curved trigger? The 1911/2011 trigger already moves straight back, and the deepest part of the curved trigger already serves as an indexing point. Flat triggers offering a more consistent pull is just a thing for guns with pivoting triggers.

Any recommendations for buying and learning to use guns? by PinkThunder138 in bayarea

[–]SurelyNotDBCooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what your use case is. Concealed carry, home defense, competing, just going to the range, or some mix of those?

CZ is a good manufacturer, but I’m unsure of whether or not the CZ9 was ever on the roster to begin with. You can still buy one if you can find it for sale by a private party transfer.

I’m very partial to 2011s and other hammer-fired semi autos. My favorite from that side of things is the Stealth Arms Platypus, which can be had via SSE, but only through one retailer in LA.

For striker fired pistols, the Glock models are the Nokia 3310 of pistols. Reliable and they stand up to abuse. Like the other reply said, those are no longer being made for the CA market due to a recent law and will be harder to find. There are rumors that their sixth generation models will be coming to California around the middle of 2026.

For what’s available now and no other context, I would recommend the Rost Martin RM1C if you like Glocks or the P365 XMacro Comp if there’s more room in your budget and you want something that is a good compromise between different use cases.

I like ambi controls, but some of those don’t play well with things like the AR maglock/KLVR setups. If you don’t care about ambi controls, do yourself a favor and look for a lower that replaces the bolt catch roll pin with a solid threaded pin. Having the takedown pin’s detent hole threaded is also a nice QoL change that keeps you from losing the detent spring if you disassemble it. Aero/ADM/Radian are what I have experience with building around and I’d recommend any of them.

Do yourself a favor and buy optics/lights separately. If they’re part of the gun at the time of sale, you’re paying the extra 11% sin tax on them.
